What is there to see besides the hotel? Sights, history, highlight of Bulgaria?
I am going to Bulgaria for the first time at the end of May, I heard a lot of good things. But I prefer active rest, so as not to spend 10 days in a hotel to eat and drink, but to see the sights, some historical places, maybe some temples, so that there are impressions, and not tell what kind of wife a German has or an English husband has and what nation drinks how much. We are going to the Sunny Beach hotel, it seems, so the question is whether there is something to see, how much it costs, and indeed approximate prices for this and that. I don’t like to go somewhere without knowing how much to take with me, I don’t want to row everything that I have at home, but taking a little is also not an option, if I feel that I don’t have enough money, I start to get nervous and rest for nothing. I would be grateful if there is someone who will tell, share what is there and how and for what.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to refuse you, I've been married for 20 years and love my husband. So look for someone else, in Ukraine almost all girls and women are like that. :) ;) :)

Good afternoon, it seems that a kindred spirit has appeared on the site - this is how my wife and I spend our holidays in Bulgaria and Turkey for many years. If someone from your family is a driver, then you need to rent a car and in two or three days you can visit the main nearby attractions, and there are quite a lot of them - Cape Kaliakra, Balchik (botanical garden), Varna, Aladzha Monastery, old Nessebar, Sozopol. You can ride to Sliven, Plovdiv, Dryanovo (monastery), Gabrovo, Shipka, be sure to Veliko Tarnovo. It is very interesting to visit remote villages, look at the life of the Bulgarians, buy some honey, rakia from local residents, not far from the SB there is the village of Medovo .We always drive our own car, so we have seen a lot, been everywhere except Sofia. I wish you a good rest and new impressions!

Igor_m thanks, I don't think that there are so few people who like to relax in the same way. Unfortunately, there are no drivers in the family, my husband believes that if the car is only with a driver, I’m still not going to pass everything on the rights, probably our daughter will get the rights sooner than we, I already mentioned such a desire, I think if I thought of it, I’ll do it . Thanks for the advice, if I go I will need to visit at least a few of the places you mentioned, this time I’m going with my sister and niece, so I won’t be able to see much, but next time I’ll go with my husband and then I’ll try to go around as much as possible.

There is a lot to see in Bulgaria! Not far from Sunny Beach Nessebar, Sozopol. Interesting excursions Balchik - Cape Kaliakra, Veliko Tarnovo - Arbanasi, Sliven - Zheravna, Kazanlak - Shipka - Etara and many others. Roses are blooming in Kazanlak just at this time! This is something! Imagine a huge valley full of roses, as far as the eye can see, and the aroma....!!!! The most expensive one-day excursions cost approximately 50 - 60 euros per person, children under 13 are half the price, I have not seen more expensive excursions, only if they are designed for several days. Souvenirs vary in price, depending on what you want to buy. On the first trip, I only "took" 500 euros for souvenirs.

Too bad there are no drivers. I have friends, Bulgarians, in St. Vlas, I'll call them, maybe we'll think of something. Excursions to the above places will cost a lot, olga17477 is right - to the Rose Valley for sure! There will be results of negotiations, I will inform.

Have I already written about 10 places that you can visit while on the north coast?
here:
1) boat garden and summer residence of the Romanian queen
2) Cape Kaliakra - not only a cliff in the sea, but also an ancient fortress
3) a mussel farm in Dalboka, Kavarna. There is also a great restaurant here.
4) Aladzha Monastery - a rock monastery of the 14th century. There are also sound and light shows.
5) Stone forest natural phenomenon near Varna
6) Varna - center, sea garden, pier, overlooking the Varna Bay
7) Roman baths in Varna and the Museum of the History of Varna, the Archaeological Museum - where the oldest gold in the world is stored - is dated 6 thousand BC. and found in the Varna necropolis
8) tourist eco-trail to the mountain above the village of Kranevo - a beautiful panorama of the sea opens from the mountain
9) hot springs in St. Constantine and Helena and the monastery of St. Constantine and Helena, in which, by the way, a piece of the relics of St. Valentine is kept)))
10) Evksinograd Palace near Varna
Bulgarian village and / or Bulgarian evening. Often people say - why do we need this? It's actually very interesting.)

Well, I'm not talking about the "flat-steppe" city of Veliko Tarnovo - the second capital of the Bulgarian kingdom, by the way, a contender for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2019, from the Varna region - about 250 km on the way, there are such excursions for the whole day with a visit Shipki, there are combined for 2 days with a visit to the Valley of Roses and Sofia, and the Rila Monastery
Madara horseman in Shumen - rock bas-relief dating from the 9th century, Tobul jamia - the largest mosque in Bulgaria
well, and a lot more, it’s just that you’re unlikely to go deep into the country

and if you are a connoisseur of wines, I can recommend a wine cellar. Recently we were there - excellent wines, we were delighted - by the way, 100 km from Burgas

Natassha_Kiev thank you very much for such precise and extended explanations. It's just a pity that even having gone to Bulgaria for 2 weeks there is no way to see all this even physically, you will have to live in a sightseeing bus ... :) At the same time save on a hotel :) :) )))))

yes, you can’t go around Bulgaria so quickly) You limit yourself to the southern coast, well, plus you can go to Tarnovo, the impressions will remain for a year! And in winter, come again, if you don’t ski, just go to the mountains and see the Rila Monastery) In general, come visit us - we live 40 km from Ruse and 65 km from Tarnovo) There is enough space for everyone) We will take you by car, wherever you want! And my mother-in-law's all-inclusive is better than in a 5 * hotel)))
аватар Natassha_Kiev
In general, I wish you a good rest, I hope that you will like Bulgaria, as they say, if you are with her soul, then she will love you and show herself in all her glory)

Now there are no excursions to Dybolka. They say that there are few who wish, mussels can be eaten in a restaurant anyway. We were. This is mainly a restaurant, a farm, as such, is not shown, they are told a little. But the restaurant!!! Real jam. True, then, you have to climb the bus to the mountain, far enough and hard after eating. For the sake of this, it is not worth going from the south coast, because the road is long. This excursion was from the north coast.
аватар Natassha_Kiev
It is best to visit the Mussel Farm if you have a car. The list that I wrote - it is titled - for the northern coast, it is clear that there is no point in going from Sunny Beach for the sake of mussels.
