Can you please tell me if there is an excursion to Sofia from Golden Sands? How much does it cost and is it worth it to go. I see on the map that it’s far away .... but the capital is still.
+ After reading the reviews, I see that Varna, Neserb and Sozopol are recommended ... maybe something else?
+ in Istanbul - is it expensive? is it tiring? Is it worth it to travel from Bulgaria? if we are from Ukraine, then as usual, at the border, will they paste a visa into our passport or do we need to do some work from here?

From Bulgaria to go to Istanbul is not worth it. The tour turns out to be very crumpled, 1 or even 2 days is catastrophically short for inspection, this is generally minuscule. Not to mention the tediousness - from the ship and immediately to the ball to see the sights. It is better to dedicate a separate trip to this majestic city for at least 5-7 days. I, too, was on fire to go on occasion from Bulgaria, but I looked, thought, and postponed the trip, I’ll go separately, there will be much more sense.
So that tourists can travel from Bulgaria to Turkey (in fact, to Istanbul) in Ukraine, the consulate makes a visa ahead of time, according to which you can enter Bulgaria twice. Actually, they do it even without special requests from tourists - they are used to the fact that they travel from Bulgaria to Istanbul. Just in case, you can remind the travel agent, but my travel agent said that they still don’t contact the consulate about this from travel agencies. The consulate itself knows)) And you get a Turkish visa right at the border.
I rested in Sunny Beach, went from there to Sofia. Golden Sands is about the same distance from the Bulgarian capital. Travel across the country. We went on a 2-day excursion, with an overnight stay in the mountains, we were in Sofia only the next day.

In addition to Varna, Nesser and Sozopol (in the first, however, I was not), I recommend to see Plovdiv - the sweetest town! There is a monument to the same Alyosha, about whom the song sings "Alyosha stands over the mountain." Actually, if you go to Sofia - Plovdiv is part of this tour, you will enjoy it for several hours (on foot, accompanied by a guide through the old part of the city).
I also recommend a trip to the ancient capital of Bulgaria, Veliko Tarnovo (this is a separate tour). Was there - cool :), did not disappoint. Locals told me that when foreign delegations, all sorts of "distinguished guests" arrive, they are taken to three places in Bulgaria without fail - the Rila Monastery (it is part of an excursion to Sofia), Veliko Tarnovo and Sozopol.

Biker_Oksana thanks for the detailed answer. I have been wanting to go to Istanbul for a long time, you are probably right, I have heard that the city is big and full of attractions. goodies, shops ... probably it will be like Prague for me .... I was there for 3 days and realized that I needed a week there.

Always glad :) Upon arrival from Bulgaria, I wrote a small report (more about the hotel, but there are not only hotel moments) - see if any information will be useful.

Sofia - became the capital only in the last century, about this it was rural. You will not see any special antiquity there. But the neighborhood - the Rila Monastery, for example - is something! In Plovdiv, in addition to Alyosha, there is the Old Plovdiv complex and an old amphitheater. On the other hand, Sofia-Plovdiv can be visited in winter, and at the same time go skiing. And during a trip to the Golden ones, I recommend traveling to Varna: Roman Baths, the Museum of the History of Varna (I found it very interesting!), the seaport, the seaside park, the Stone Forest. Nessebar - yes, it's worth it. Istanbul - yes, it's worth it, just take a trip for 2 days. Veliko Tarnovo, Shipka, Etara are definitely more interesting than Sofia.
