Rested in Golden Sands in September 2009. At the Alegra hotel she lived alone in DBL. The hotel is clean, well cleaned. I only took breakfast, it was quite tasty: vegetables, fruits, scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, pancakes, etc. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the sea, a little on the mountain. located on the first coastline quite fussy and noisy.

The room had a TV, refrigerator, air conditioning, balcony, decent bathroom. node. The pool is big but not heated. The sunbeds are free and there is plenty of room for everyone. By the way, the hotel is well located, not far from public transport stops, close to retail outlets, a grocery store is very close.
Golden Sands resort pleased with clean beaches, greenery (it is located in the reserve area). I advise you to visit Varna, Balchik, Cape Kaliakra, the resort of St. Constantine and Elena (there is a botanical garden).
I read the reviews of other tourists, some claim that Bulgaria is the same Crimea. I do not agree with this. Of course, Bulgaria is not exotic, but still it has its own individuality.

Perhaps it is worth starting not with a description of the hotel itself, but about holidays in Bulgaria in general. In advance, I want to sympathize with those who are just going there. If you are between 18 and 30, then there is nothing to do there. The same Crimea, only Germans, Poles, British, etc. are around, moreover, old age or with small children.

Planes (Bulgarian Airlines) is another story. When I saw this trough with wings in Pulkovo, my horror knew no bounds. My sister forcefully dragged me onto the plane. The tour company assured us that the planes were good, they had been in operation for 5 years. But it turned out not quite so. For 5 years, these aircraft have been in operation with Bulgarian airlines, and they were released in 1989 in the amount of 12 pieces. But, bravo to the pilots, they took off very gently. The food on the plane is normal, but as for the hot one, the impression is not very good, tasteless chicken with broccoli (it tastes better than it smells). The steward practically does not understand Russian (the question is, how did he find himself on this flight ??? ) 5 minutes explained to him that I want a glass of water. I would like to say in advance that it is better to go to the toilet before the feeder, because then you will have to break through there with remarkable strength. We sat at the end, so we watched as two women of about 45 almost got torn apart, figuring out whose turn it was to go to the reflection room.
All the way the plane was shaking, as if it was preparing to fall. The landing came from the second time, and no one said to fasten your seat belts. The plane practically landed on the starboard side and in this state we spent 15 minutes circling over the roads at a minimum height, which, if desired, could understand how many people were sitting in the cars passing below. The pilot is either extreme or kamikaze.
The weather was excellent, and we immediately went to the beach, after handing over all the valuables to the safe at the reception (35 lev per week). Close to the sea, min. 15 along a long road (if you go to the end and along the bend down), we found a shorter way back (on the first convolution down - 10 minutes, looking into the tents with souvenirs). I must say right away that the farther from the beach, the cheaper. We returned to the hotel for dinner. The food is normal, but very monotonous, drinks at dinner for an additional fee, but we brought a small kettle, so we drank tea in the room. This hotel staff was very annoying, but they were patiently silent. Breakfast was also not bad, but again the same thing, but you can eat before dinner. Their food is low-calorie and not sweet, everything is based on sour milk. It is better not to drink water from the tap and it is not recommended to boil it, it is highly chlorinated. We bought bottles of water from nearby stores. It is better not to change money at the hotel (small exchange rate). If you leave the hotel and walk a little down, next to the MAMBA store there is a good exchanger and the rate is higher. If you go to change in Varna, the exchange rate in the banks is even better, but everything is closed on Sundays. Yes, and there is practically nothing to see in Varna: the cathedral in the center and the ruins of Roman baths (cross the road from the cathedral and walk down past New Yorker and at the crossroads to the left: students enter 2 years, adults 4 years). The market in Varna can hardly be called a market, rather, it is an aprashka in a mini version and things are exactly the same. It is easier to get to the city from the golden sands by taxi (you need to bargain with taxi drivers).
On the third day of our holiday, the weather turned bad, the temperature dropped to 18 degrees (such is the climate in Bulgaria) and we went on an excursion. It is better not to order excursions on the street, they deceive well.
It was very cold in the morning and I wanted to get under a hot shower, but slightly warm water flowed from the tap. I went down to reception to complain. I was assured that I had to wait a little bit and it would be hot, but after 15 minutes. expectations, nothing has changed and they promised to fix everything by the evening. But it wasn’t there, we arrived from the excursion, wet, frozen, and the water was still cold. They began to assure me that a plumber would come tomorrow and fix everything, but I got tired of listening to these breakfasts. In general, until we said that we would now go to wash at their house, they did not itch. In 10 minutes. they brought us the key to another room so that we could somehow wash ourselves there. The next day it got even worse. We no longer had hot water, not cold, and a little warm flowed from both taps. But even with this, we somehow reconciled. But when in the evening I found bedbugs in my bed, the cat. fled in different directions, it was just scary, well, what will happen next. At the reception, they asked the cleaning lady not to open the balcony, because. all sorts of green beetles and other flying muck fly in, but we were ignored. And on our balcony felts of a squirrel, felts of a harek began to run. But we have come to terms with this. There were a few days left before the end of the holiday. For 8 days, we never changed bed linen, and in order to at least change towels, we had to throw them on the wet floor. No entertainment at the hotel. The pool is open until 17:30. Due to bad weather, the indoor pool was never opened. The outdoor pool is clean, but only in appearance. With us, a small child wrote there, or rather, a conscientious dad took him there: we lie, and the man holds his 3-year-old daughter over the pool and she pees there. It is not surprising that there is not water, but solid bleach.
But in recent days the weather has improved and we spent both days on the beach. A sunbed costs 7 lev. The mattress on it is 3 more, and the umbrella is 7. But we decided not to spend money on it and sunbathed on towels, like most young people. The beach is clean, the sea is spoiling, though with big waves. Lifeguards sit every hundred meters, so it’s safe to swim even on big waves. On the water, too, entertainment in bulk. Parachutes (70 lev), banana, jet skis. All along the beach, swarthy girls offer massages for a modest fee. Beach bar, cocktails with umbrellas - this is the only thing that allowed you to forget about the horrors in the hotel. I really wanted to sit in a bar (there are for every taste and color), but due to bad weather in previous days, it was empty everywhere. In two days, they tanned like a month in Sochi.
But early we relaxed. On the eve of departure, we were supposed to be informed when they would pick us up from the hotel, but they forgot about us and had to call the guide ourselves, as I ran out of money on my cell phone so I had to use the phone in my room. We learned in advance at the reception how to call and how much it would cost. The girl assured that about 70 stotinki a minute. We timed it and called. In the evening before leaving, we went to pay for this unfortunate phone and it turned out that instead of 2.10 lev, we owed 10.50. I had to call the guide again, and when the bus pulled up for us, we were not allowed out of the hotel until we paid. Our representative talked about something for a long time with the girl from the reception, I don’t know how it ended, we were put on a bus and taken to the airport. By the way, one girl from a nearby hotel did not come down with her things and was left there.
I would like to draw attention to the fact that theft in Bulgaria is much more developed than in other countries. At what steal and hotel staff. Therefore, sleep on the floor of the eye, because. on the beach heard that the man was robbed while he was sleeping. When we were robbed a woman from the next room and while she sobbed in the hall, no one from the reception paid any attention to her. In connection with these events, we began to bring a bedside table to the door at night, although we have nothing special to take =)))
Now about luggage. It is better to wrap it with tape at the hotel, but it is better to bring tape with you, because. It's hard to buy it there. At the airport, luggage is packed (20 lev), but packing does not always work. Yes, and they are packaged somehow free. Put on the bag and fix it on the sides with tape. Alcohol can be taken out in any quantity, no one checks the suitcases and does not shine through, the screening of hand luggage is formal. But duty free is very pleased with the prices and variety. You can pay in both euro and local currency. The plane this time was better and bigger, although the same years as there. Flight attendants are more friendly and speak Russian fluently. The only thing was that the takeoff was hard, I almost tore my gut off, but the landing was almost jewelry. The only thing that was embarrassing was the two planes flying by through the window. After that, we climbed higher, and the girl sitting next to me became very ill. The flight attendants did not have a device for measuring blood pressure, no medicines. It's good that two doctors were sitting next to each other. They somehow started to pump it out. The flight went smoothly, almost no shaking. When we landed at Pulkovo, my sister and I breathed a sigh of relief, finally this vacation came to an end.
I am not spoiled for holidays in Turkey, Egypt, etc. , where you will be licked for your money, but such a nightmare cannot be dreamed of even in nightmares.
