My question is: - is it worth it to go to Sofia on the way from the airport to exchange euros for levs, or is the difference in the final amount insignificant and can be exchanged without problems in Velingrad itself? Even if in Sofia - only, for God's sake, do not change in the transitions! At the hotel we changed - 1.91 leva for 1 euro, in the transition a fellow traveler on the tourist bus changed - 1.57 leva for 1 euro. Did you hear the difference?

I personally don’t know about banks - I changed at the hotel, the rate was good. I have not heard that in hotels in Bulgaria there was a completely bad exchange rate. Better - perhaps on the street in the exchanger, but be careful with exchangers, even if they shout that they are "official". And before the trip, and already on the spot, I heard many times that in Bulgaria fraud is flourishing in "exchanges". The difference is small (1 euro = 1.91 leva in a hotel, 1 euro = 1.95 leva in an exchanger), you don’t lose much (if you are not going to change millions), but you are calm.
