Euro or Lev
The more convenient and profitable to pay. Why do many people write about exchangers, is it not possible to buy Leva in Moscow and go with them? Or is it not beneficial?

Bulgarians prefer levs. For example, in the same supermarkets. For a souvenir in a street seller of this delight, you can also offer euros, but still ... levs rule in Bulgaria.

Buying leva in Moscow, you will lose a lot on the difference in rates. Calculations are everywhere in leva. Street vendors can also accept euros at the Bulgarian exchange rate. The course fluctuates, the steeper the resort, the less profitable. It is better to change in Varna, but the difference is small. Be careful with scammers. Bulgaria has it! Change at the bank or where the guide advises.

We went to Bulgaria in 2009 and for the first time changed euros to lira in Moscow - 100 euros. We arrived very late in Nessebar, it was at least something to go to a restaurant for dinner.

Almost everywhere they take payment with Visa Classic and Master Card (debit)... If you have a card, getting cash is not a problem. Use ATMs at banks! If you buy levs, then only in large exchangers and at the same time ask: -Will there be a commission?

Thanks everyone for the advice.
It turns out that in Moscow you need to buy euros, and in Sozopol you need to exchange them for levs.
I have no cards, only cash.

Also, be careful that their boards show the BUY and SELL rates. If only a sale, then these are deceivers, and somewhere behind the door, so that you do not see, a completely different course hangs. The main thing - DO NOT SIGN until you are sure that everything is in order.

Well, they were completely intimidated. Does anyone know what course they have now?
аватар irina_1901
I myself, an experienced tourist (!!!) once got caught in St. Vlas. Moreover, in words they told me one course, but they wanted to give money in a different way. But I did not have time to sign and threatened the police, after which they returned my euros to me and I successfully exchanged them on the shopping street. The course can be found on the Internet before the trip, also the guide on the bus announces. Last year it was: 1 euro = 1.95 lev, in resorts from 1.93 to 1.87. The guide warns: if the offer is better than in the bank - do not believe it!

the official rate is here http://www.bnb.bg/
The Bulgarian lev is pegged to the euro

This is what scares me (scammers), I am not very attentive, it is not difficult to deceive me. Okay, I decided to buy a little lev in Moscow, for the first time, and then I will look for banks there.

Do not be afraid. We have been going to Bulgaria for 8 years now. The meeting party will tell you in which exchangers to change money. I just don’t remember where we changed money in Sozopol, but there were no problems there. I heard that on Constantine. Fraudsters are usually not on the main street, but to the side. Read again all our tips and everything will be fine. Bulgarians are very nice people. Beware of dealing with gypsies, that's all. And ask the guide everything.

I don’t understand what the fuss is all about? Change currency only in banks! There, the course is higher, and they won’t throw it away!
About ten years ago there were only a couple of banks in Sozopol. They worked only on weekdays and then until 16-17. Now they are full of them. And they began to work not only on working days (until 20.00), but also on weekends (I don’t remember exactly until which time). Kus on the scoreboard, just go and choose where higher. They don’t ask for documents during the exchange, only the last name ... So I don’t understand what the exchangers recommended by the guide have to do with it, and even more so the gypsies ...
P.S. By the way, it is not at all important to carry cash in euros, dollars will do just fine. A friend returned from a press tour a week ago and says that 1 dollar now costs about 1.5 leva. This is if the bank. In the hotel at the reception, the course is lower -!,4.

Poola, thank you very much for your advice.
One more question: towels for the beach, do you need to take with you?
аватар 3nrutovb
Dreddy, thanks for the info.
аватар Dreddy
Take it! You can’t take out hotel rooms, it’s expensive to “rent” ...
аватар irina_1901
As a rule, you need to bring your own towels. You can also buy them there, they are cheap. There are hotels where they give out * pool towels *, but I have not seen it in Sozopol. And about exchangers, for example, at all resorts, the guide warns us on the bus, this information is included in his work. I don't know why Dreddy doesn't know.
аватар Dreddy
That is Poola. I'm actually aware! :-) But my husband and I have been to Bulgaria so many times that even without an accompanying person I know that the exchange rate is lower than in a bank. And if the exchanger is located in close proximity to the bank, then it can be exactly the same, but only until the end of the working day at the bank. After that, it drops sharply. :-)

if you find 1.94 leva for 1 euro in Moscow, you can change a little ...

1. I.e. Is it not profitable to exchange rubles for Levs in Moscow?
2. And when calculating for plastic, do they recalculate at what rate? (if there are rubles on the plastic)
3. And if anyone has been / vacationed in Chernomorets, share how it is with ATMs, and in general for paying with plastic. Vezdel in cafes they can pay?
Thanks in advance! We are going to try the Bulgarian coast :-)
аватар irina_1901
In cafes in Bulgaria, especially in small resorts such as Chernomorets, cards are not accepted. From Moscow you need to carry euros, the exchange rate is constant 1 euro = 1.95 lev. at the resorts in exchangers the exchange rate is worse, in banks it is. In my opinion, the Bulgarian coast should not be started from Chernomorets, but this, of course, is a matter of taste.
аватар Laa911
Just there appeared apartments with friends :-))
And what would you advise? Is everything sad in Chernomorets? :-(
What are the prices for food there?
Maybe someone has pictures of their menu .. or maybe there are some sites for their cafes?
аватар Laa911
Thanks for the advice.
and when withdrawing levs from ruble plastic at an ATM, what exchange rate will be?
аватар irina_1901
Chernomorets is a small settlement, it's boring there. But we do not know what exactly YOU expect from the rest, in what composition you are going and in what period. I know that in September there is nothing to do in Chernomorets, Kiten, Primorsko, Kavarna. And the sea in Bulgaria is good everywhere. Resorts are all different, for every taste and budget, but the main thing is to choose the right one for yourself.
аватар Laa911
We have a family vacation :-)
Woke up - took a shower - breakfast
Reached the sea lay down - lunch
Slept, woke up darling - sea - dinner
Some wine and sleep :-))
Like a mega relax in Turkey ... but in private apartments.
Were the year before last in Montenegro in Buljarica, I really liked it
Tishan, village by village, prices are ridiculous :-) and a lot of air -))
Here is something...
Alya Moscow region only with the sea :-)))
But they read about radiation in 2010, about some kind of chemical plant, and it became somehow scary ...
They even say the beach was closed due to radiation ..
The plan is 2 months June-July.
It's not too cold there in the sea at this time, in Montenegro it was cool something around 22-24 in the evenings in a blouse .. (this is the end of June)?
аватар irina_1901
You won't survive two months in a small resort, it seems to me. We are going for a month, and then 3 resorts - 3 hotels. It's hard for us to walk the same streets and eat in the same restaurants. Maybe at least for a couple of weeks (for example, in June - cheaper) to take a more fun resort? Moreover, the sea in the first half of June will be invigorating. The weather should be hot, including in the evenings, but a blouse is always needed, because there may be a slight cold snap for 2-3 days. There are no long rains in Bulgaria.
аватар Laa911
If it's not a secret, what budget do you plan for a month? And how many people?
If not the first time, then through whom is it cheaper to fly?
аватар irina_1901
I will answer in a personal mail, maybe no one else is interested.
