Good afternoon! I plan to go to Bulgaria in the summer, but I can't choose a city. Please tell me which is better Sozopol or Nessebar? I like to go on excursions, where are the best views? Thanks!

There is no sample for taste and color.
Kinds?!
Both have the Old Town - theatrical and commercial scenery. Come from time to time and immerse yourself in the "old seaside towns" - that's welcome.
There is nowhere to "walk" there, these are small towns. Nessebar has a very pleasant park, Sozopol is more "mountainous".
Visit both there and there, if you like excursions. These cities are not so far from each other, it is quite possible to get by with public transport.

Exhaustive previous answer! Thus, it is better to stay in Sunny Beach - there are probably more options for excursions from there!

Rested in both towns. Liked. It's worth staying here and there. True, excursions there is one word. In Sozopol, in the old town, there is a residential development of old houses with interesting architecture, but very similar. You can wander the streets once, but no more. The city wall is remarkable, but also at one time. In general, the town is pleasant. In Nessebar, the old town has been monetized. The whole is built up with cafes, restaurants, shops. It is very difficult to see the old man because of them. But after Sozopol, you don’t want to, because. I didn't find anything new there. But in general, the town and the rest also liked. The old town on the peninsula can be reached by a long bridge.

I am for Sozopol - there are fewer stalls in the old town that close the city proper. And the prices seem a little lower. And you can also safely get to Nessebar both on your own and with a tour. In the old Neserbar, there are crowds of tourists on the streets even during the day: the place has been promoted too much since Soviet times. In Sozopol, after all, people begin to hang out no earlier than 5-6 pm, and during the day you can calmly take a walk. In general, settle in Burgas: exactly in the middle between Sozopol and Nessebar, and the park there is just super. True, this is still a city with an airport, and not a resort village.

Good evening. I am for nesebar.

I live in Sveti Vlas, which is part of the Nessebar community. Was in Sozopol. There is an interesting nearby castle (new building) in Ravadinovo. One day is enough for you to see this part of Bulgaria. Old Nessebar is interesting not only for its old buildings and shopping streets. but also various festivals. In addition, immediately from Nessebar begins Solechny Beach - a famous resort, which almost without interruption passes into Sveti Vlas. This is a new city in fact, which is also worth seeing. I call it "SV vacation train Bulgaria". I think you know that the best car on the train is SV. Look at the map. The option with Burgas is also not bad. The bus ride to Nessebar is less than an hour. Sozopol is about the same.

Nessebar

It’s a pity there is no editing option: Nessebar, but it’s necessary to live not in the old city, but in the new one (but not in Ravda either).

In Bulgaria this summer for the first time, before the Crimea, then Turkey-Egypt. Last year I visited Montenegro, the beauty is incredible, we walked every day, there is always something to see) I think there are worthy excursions in Bulgaria too. Why did I stop on these cities, since the names "old city" attracted me. But if you advise some other cities, then I will be happy to consider these options.
Thanks for the tips and generous comments ;)

We rested several times in Nessebar. The town is small and, as it were, divided by a bridge into two parts: the Old Town and the new one. In the Old part of the city, beaches are not very convenient (you will not only go on excursions)) and family-type hotels are small. Many tourists are brought to this part of the city, so the price tag for souvenirs will be higher. In the newer part of the city, the beach is more convenient, there are a couple of supermarkets (Mladost and Jeanette), and it takes 15-20 minutes to walk to the Old Town.
On foot you can walk to Sunny Beach, by public transport you can get to the nearest resorts and take a walk there
If you choose Nessebar, be sure to specify exactly where the hotel is located, in Nessebar or still in Ravda. Because Ravda (resort new building)) also, as it were, refers to Nessebar.

I am definitely for Nessebar. I advise you to rent a house in the New Town with walking distance to the Old Town. I do not consider Ravda. It is also better to go on excursions from Nessebar. If you want to hear opinions about other resorts in Bulgaria, then you should know your composition. Personally, I like Albena.

irina_1901 My composition is small, I am alone) if I find fellow travelers I will be glad)
аватар irina_1901
If you are alone, then check out the Orpheus hotel in Nessebar. We are regulars at this hotel. I asked about the composition because I think that this hotel is not very suitable for small children. To the beach 12-15 minutes leisurely. But the road is interesting, past good shops. If you want more expensive, then look at Marietta Palace.

If you have chosen Nessebar, then it is better to stay in a hotel closer to the South Beach. Take Aphrodite Beach Hotel (front line), it is on booking at the same price as Marieta Palace, only Marieta is far from the beach. Or Oasis Park Hotel, this is almost the first line and has a park area, unlike all other hotels.
I lived in Nessebar in all the listed hotels in single mode, so good luck)
There is a very inexpensive option - Daniel Guest House on St. Paisiy St., corner of Vodopad St., where a single per day last summer cost me 12 euros. 10 minutes to South Beach.
I do not recommend the northern beach of Nessebar.
аватар irina_1901
And we like the north beach. We go there even more often than to the south, although the south is a little closer. The northern one is more spacious.
аватар 86jjj
Nunina, irina_1901, we are not crowded in the South))
Northern - it's different, I've been there, I didn't like it.
And how is the South Beach closer to you - is it from Orpheus? I read very good reviews about Orpheus, even at one time I wanted to rent a room there, but the hotel is still far from the beach. Our location in Nessebar is Marieta Palace (the family rested there five times at different times), Aphrodite Beach Hotel (four times), Oasis Park Hotel (4-5 times ..) and various small guest hotels. Always South Beach.

Do you buy a tour from the operator, or do you book rooms directly with the hotel? With the selected type of food? Is there a concept of national cuisine if you eat in a cafe? Thank you!

Sometimes the operator has a better price than booking. I compare and choose what suits me best.
For example, last summer we rested 4 times in Nessebar: 3 times by booking and 1 time - directly contacted the Aphrodite Beach Hotel (Nessebar, South Beach, first line) and received a very good price. If you are interested, I will send you the e-mail of Aphrodite Beach Hotel.
This year, the eldest son and his family are going to Nessebar in June, he reserved a guest house through booking, and in August the youngest son and his family rented an apartment in Vigo, contacted the owner via viber, it turned out cheaper than booking.
The road costs us 25-30 euros round trip, the bus from Chisinau.
Nessebar has become like a family for us, it pulls there and that's it.
(PS) Although last summer I was still in Spain, the Olympic Riviera and Zakynthos. And still went twice to Nessebar. I also love St. Konstantin and Elena, also a soulful place, plus a hotel with a swimming pool with mineral water and Varna nearby, you don’t need to roast on the beach all day.

Nessebar is full of cafes and they all seem to have a local flavor. Here, somewhere in the topic Questions and Answers, the cafes of Nessebar were discussed.

Where can you eat tasty and inexpensive in Nessebar?

аватар irina_1901
86jjj Orfe is 12 minutes from the south beach and 5 minutes longer to go to the north. But the road to the north seems to us more interesting, along the trading street Father Paisius. On the way, we have lunch at the Waterfall cafe - inexpensive and tasty. On the way to the south beach (past the Vigo hotel) there is a good cosmetics shop and a hardware store. The first years we went only to the south beach, then we adapted to the north.
аватар irina_1901
Sorry for the mistakes, I don't know what happened.

irina_1901: "On the way to the south beach (past the Vigo hotel) there is a good cosmetics shop and a hardware store"
Good, yes, I bought a lot of things there.
I saw where Orpheus is. The town is small. In our family, the kids went, so we are looking for closer to the beach.
