Do you want to drink burnt alcohol, diluted beer? Do you like to communicate with people who smile at you, but despise you behind your back, and have no idea about the rules of sanitation? Then you are in Turkey.
Do you want a European level of service, good European cuisine, decent drinks and European faces? - Bulgaria.
аватар Pachok
Holidays in Turkey are much better. In August, it is very hot on the Anatolian coast, you need to choose the resorts of the Aegean Sea.
Bulgaria is one of the countries where I will most likely never return.
аватар borispolskiy
Let's first decide: with whom you are going to relax, what type of vacation you prefer - active or passive, how much money you have, for how long you are going, whether you want to see many of your compatriots nearby.
Then google the Internet, read offers and reviews, and choose what you like, then. What do you like. There are many good places in Bulgaria and Turkey.)))
Have a nice rest !

August is the most expensive month in Bulgaria, until the 23rd. And no wonder, it's very good there. And what to choose - depends on who you are traveling with and on the budget. Pachok most likely chose the wrong resort and hotel at the time, so she doesn’t like Bulgaria, just like I chose the wrong one in Turkey and don’t want to go there anymore. According to kolyan 100%. But if you are going to Turkey, then Pachok will give you the right advice. In Bulgaria, you can come to me if before August 6th. Then we leave. To Bulgaria.

I did not like not a resort or a hotel. I did not like the sea, the country and the local population. In Turkey, at least the beaches are not urban, even the most modest "three rubles", no one roams and steals bags.
But everyone has their own opinion, of course.
аватар irinavladnik
Pachok, sorry for the curiosity. Where were you in Bulgaria?
аватар Pachok
Ravda in a private boarding house and a cruise from Odessa to Nessebar, lived on a boat.
аватар irinavladnik
Well, this is just a "great" place to judge Bulgaria. By the way, for all our travel and leisure time, money was stolen only once. Cyprus, Larnaca. We went swimming, and when we started getting ready, there was no money. Neighbors (foreigners) perfectly saw the thief. Like a grandfather with a wand. As we were told later, we simply decided that he was with us. And the bottom line is that this is a pro. With a wand, he opens the bags and sees what is there. So what? We now do not have a rest in Cyprus?

Bulgaria is Crimea, but the service is a bit more worthy, but in Crimea the sea is better. The "good country of Bulgaria" is still far from European service. (Impressions from 3 trips in 10 years). I don't want to go back there either.
And whoever criticizes Turkey has not seen Turkey. Do not go in a package, but on your own.
But how many people, so many opinions.
аватар irinavladnik
Well, if you take 2 stars, eat complexes, many people write about it here, don’t take paid umbrellas, but lie in a free zone, where the number of people is simply huge, then Crimea will simply seem like a 5-star vacation. You can not pay a penny, but demand a super service.
аватар Rovno10
If you rent an apartment 3 km from the sea in Crimea, eat complexes, swim on public beaches, then Bulgaria is a paradise.
аватар Pachok
irinavladi71, I did not understand the essence of your answer to me. Do you want to convince me that it's good in Bulgaria? So it's pointless, my opinion is formed and it is unlikely to change. I wrote my impressions. You can share yours, and welcome.
аватар irinavladnik
Pachok, what is "Yu and wellcome?" In Russia there is an excellent sausage - "Velkom". Are you talking about it?
аватар irinavladnik
really, sitting on this site around the clock, you can’t write three words in English?
аватар Pachok
?
Describe better the advantages of holidays in Bulgaria. This will be more useful and productive than trying to bite a stranger.
аватар irinavladnik
You have decided everything for yourself. We visited Ravda on a cruise. Thanks for the thought, I'll write a review over the weekend. And then I'm lazy.
аватар irina_1901
Pachok. I respect your knowledge of Turkey and if I ever get together, I will turn to you for advice. But you also believe people who know Bulgaria well. According to Ravda (this is a village for relaxing with young children, there is nothing there but the sea, and it is far from Nessebar) it is impossible to judge Bulgarian resorts. Resorts are all different, for any priorities. If you like Turkey, then probably. you will like good all-inclusive hotels in Sunny Beach: Evrika, Tiara Beach, Kalimera Club. There are also good hotels on Golden Sands: Grifid Vistamar, RIU Dolce Vita, Marina Grand Beach. If you are traveling with children, you will not find better than Albena, hotels of the 1st line. They are all good, even 3 *, the beaches are wide, clean, sunbeds and umbrellas are free, good quality food. Pomorie is suitable for those who like to heal. As well as St. Konstantin and Elena, immersed in greenery, with mineral springs. But hotels should be chosen carefully, consult with connoisseurs. Advantages of Bulgaria: a wonderful mild climate, clear sea (sometimes it causes algae in some places, but not always and not everywhere), similar language, friendly people. In good hotels, there is a decent audience that will not start a fight, as in Turkey, in Kemer. I like the kitchen.

I agree with Poola 100%. Yes, even European faces and worthy behavior of the Bulgarians!
аватар Pachok
Poola, we have already discussed this topic more than once, and I have great respect for your experience. Of course, I believe that people like Bulgaria! Otherwise they wouldn't go there. But I consider it right to voice my point of view, even if it is negative. Those who have not been there should have an objective picture, namely, not everyone likes Bulgaria, it is not suitable for everyone.
What attracts me in Turkey is not all, but a sense of security, wonderful hospitable people, clear sea, mountains, greenery. I didn't find it in Bulgaria. The "European faces" of the Bulgarians watched indifferently as I fainted from the heat in the restaurant, and the first thing I saw when I came to my senses was the bill in front of my nose. NOT a glass of water.
аватар Pachok
irinavladi71, but I'm not asking for feedback for myself. The author of the question is interested in where it is better, let him have more information.
аватар irina_1901
Pachcok. Now I understand why you did not like Bulgaria. The troubles that happen leave a negative imprint. You are just unlucky, such idiocy is rare among Bulgarians. I sympathize. And yet I advise you - try again one more time to forget the bad. Take a good hotel. Everything will be fine!
аватар Pachok
Thank you Poola, but I just don't see any reason to go to Bulgaria. Nothing attracted me there. If, say, only the people didn’t like it, but the sea liked it, or, conversely, the sea didn’t like it, but the excursion girl attracted it ... And so, - all the parameters by which I choose a country for recreation, - everything is past.
Yes, for sure, there are good hotels there, but they are also in other countries where I want to return or go for the first time :)
At the moment I have not seen a place more beautiful than Madeira! :)
аватар alex45
Pachok! And my friends strongly recommend Corsica to me, they have already been there, and 20 minutes by ferry to Sardinia. The cleanest sea, beautiful beaches. I took note.
For me, that Bulgaria, that Turkey is a lottery. Good hotels can be in both countries, bad - also. About "diluted" beer - in "Sailors Beach" (the owner is German) he drank excellent tuborg and there were very good wines. It was impossible to drink beer or wine in another hotel. So, if not at all, as requested by the TS, then you need to choose hotels, not countries. Note that Turkey is south of Bulgaria, hence the climate.

I would give preference to Turkey, forgive me lovers of Bulgaria. As a friend of mine says: "Turkey would be an ideal place if it were not for the Turks themselves." And the country is wonderful. Nature, sea, air, food, various interesting places.
In Bulgaria, everything is somewhat more modest.
In general, I agree with Pachok - you need to go to Madeira!) That's where the real paradise is. Well, or Sicily)) Sardinia is beautiful, but very expensive. The Italians themselves prefer Sicily. It's greener and less expensive. But this, of course, is a matter of taste and financial possibilities.

Pack, about the "wonderful people of the Turks", you got excited. You will walk through the local market, through the places of residence of the Turks, with a friend who knows Turkish. Learn a lot about yourself. Even in a hotel, you better not hear what they say about you when they smile in your face and babble in Turkish. They do not like us. Considered pigs. And, besides, due to national characteristics, very vague ideas about hygiene, even in expensive hotels. Constantly mass poisoning, due to lack of sanitation, incl. in 5* hotels. We ourselves got into 4 *. Been sick for 3 days. The Bulgarians, unlike the Turks, are still some, but Europeans, and much more cultured. Of course, if there is a beautiful girl in front of the Turks, they fall in love with 32 teeth and jump out of their pants, so I often hear from the fair sex what they like in Turkey. The only thing that, in my opinion, is good in Turkey is antiquity, and accordingly, in terms of excursions and knowledge of antiquity, Bulgaria cannot be compared with it. In Bulgaria, apart from Old Nessebar, there is nothing to see.
аватар Pachok
kilyan_cat, Your advice about "walking through the market", etc. would be good for beginners. I went to Turkey for 15 years, no poisoning, I know the Turks well and understand a lot from what they say. Thanks for the hints of a beautiful girl :) but they are also not the topic - for many years I drove a family of pensioners, in other cases we traveled with my husband. Imagine, they also smile at him :), they treat him with respect and kindness.
Once again about the "culture" of the Bulgarians: gloomy soviet faces. Instead of "welcome" - "why did you come so early, I was expecting you for dinner." Menu with double prices - for Europeans and for Russian speakers. I personally saw it in a restaurant - the day before I paid according to the "Russian menu", and the next day, when the waiter heard German speech at our table, he dragged a menu with lower prices.
And let's not talk about the hygiene of the Turks. In this matter, they will give odds to you and me, religion obliges.

alex45, I looked at Sardinia very closely this year! There is an excellent direct inexpensive flight from Kyiv to Olbia and Cagliari. According to the descriptions - magical nature, good people, hotels for every taste. If I was traveling with my husband or myself, I would definitely stay in Sardinia in a boarding house, I would take a car :) But the situation imposes restrictions - this year we are resting with a one and a half year old baby, i.e. I need a hotel on a sandy beach in the first line, with a territory and at least on HB, but rather on the all. In Sardinia, this is very expensive.
While we are planning Greece, and how it will turn out there ... Maybe we will go to Turkey again, I miss it, I haven’t been for three years :)
аватар irinavladnik
Pachok, good afternoon! If you choose Turkey, what two hotels would you recommend. Requirements: Sea, first line, sand., Comfortable rooms (bedroom and living room), good food, two adults, animation is not interested, preferably not a very large hotel
аватар 19062005
IMHO: you need to visit both Turkey and Bulgaria in order to form your own opinion and understand exactly where you like it best. how many people - so many opinions. go this season to Turkey and next season to Bulgaria, or vice versa. good choice and rest!!!

irinavladi71, for what purpose are you interested? Are you going there for vacation?
