The best Bulgarian excursion is to the glorious city of Istanbul!!!:)

There are not many excursions from the south coast. We went to Sliven-Zheravna (inland of Bulgaria), Nessebar and Sozopol, also everyone goes to the Bulgarian village - this is a folklore evening with dinner and entertainment, also a good but expensive excursion to the Rose Valley, there is also an excursion to the island with a picnic (like a desert island called). I would not advise Istanbul, it is very tiring, but if you decide, then make a double visa, otherwise you won’t be able to.

We were on 3 excursions. The husband insisted on Shipka. Full day excursion, includes a visit to the tomb of the Thracian (Thracian) princess in Kazanlak, the rose museum, picking roses in the field, the Church of the Nativity in the village of Shipka, climbing the mountain, on Shipka itself there is a museum, but you need to pay extra for a ticket, finally, the Etar ethnographic museum . We, two adults, were not tired, but we should not take children, and even without warm clothes (blouses, jackets, there is a very strong wind on Shipka).
Second excursion: Varna (dolphinarium + independent walk around the city 30 minutes) and Aladzha monastery. Waste of money.
3: sunset on a yacht, champagne and peanuts. For views of the sea and sunset - 5, safety equipment - 1 with a minus. They did not warn that the sail would change direction, the husband was hit in the face with a rope. Bruising as a result.
It is better and cheaper to go to Nessebar on your own.

But probably to Shipka and Varna - this is clearly not from the Sunny Beach area. As far as I know, they don’t carry people to Shipka from this area!

Were in June last year in Nessebar. Tourists were collected on the bus along Nessebar, Solnechny, and to Varna and from Obzor.

I agree with you, they also drive from this area. When we were in 2009, we did not carry.

Shipka is closer from Sunny Beach, and Varna is the northern coast, it takes more than 2 hours to drive, it makes no sense from Sunny Beach. Also Aladzha Monastery, Stone Forest, Madara rider, Shumen - this is all the Varna region, next time go. Teddy Kam has a long-distance excursion - Kazanlak-Shipka-Etar. Sozopol-Ropotamo, and Nessebar, too, I advise you with a tour, they tell a very interesting story, and in June on the Ropotamo River the lily bloom season. We love with a guide to not only see but also listen, but there are lovers and independent trips.

IMHO: it's easier to rent a car and visit everything you want. in 3 days you can go around the entire coast. we did just that, the savings are substantial.

And I really liked the monastery in the rock. And at the end they drove to the "beaten stones" :)
