Is it worth taking dollars to Bulgaria?
...and if so, in what cases is it preferable to pay with them, and not with levs or euros? Thanks!

Last year we took both dollars and euros. All the same, they paid everywhere only in leva.

And what is more profitable to take to exchange for leva?

1$ - 1.3-1.32 leva
1 euro - 1.91-1.94 leva
pay with leva

The euro exchange rate has been practically at the same level for several years. The dollar exchange rate is more "floating" - in 2008 it was at the level of 1.2 leva. In the past - 1.42-1.45 leva.
It doesn't really matter what you take. What is, then take it. You will still pay with levs! :-)

The currency in Bulgaria is the lev. And Bulgaria is in Europe, so there are many countries nearby whose currency is the euro. Well, somehow the dollar is out of place at all, although it is also money, and they change easily. The default in the states has been canceled today, the bucks will remain at the level or climb up a little... Have a good rest!

With dollars or euros you can pay for excursions or for accommodation (from private traders). But, as they have already said before me, the local currency is the lev and it is the main one here. After all, you can’t buy water in a store for euros either, although Europe is nearby;) Read my spring review: http://www.turpravda.ua/bg/nesebr/Marieta_Palas-h20286-r50747.html There I wrote about prices food, cosmetics in Bulgaria. Perhaps this will help in planning the "holiday budget".
