self-booking again
booked a hotel in Nessebar directly (or rather, the owner promised to book and we are in the process of negotiations, it seems like no prepayment is needed), travel agencies offer visas, insurance and moving in one package. Anyone who has traveled this way, can you give me some advice?

Let the host of the hotel send you an electronic confirmation of the reservation of the room from ..... to ..... date.
Let it be with you just in case, and for customs clearance. I went that way last year. I booked without prepayment, they sent me a letter with the hotel's stamp that the room was booked in my name. In the morning I arrived at the hotel, I say "Hello, I have a room booked, I say my last name" the young lady looks at the computer and says "I do not see the booked room in your name"
Imagine my surprise. I take out a printed letter with a booking stamp, the young lady immediately shows it to the hotel manager, who, by the way, sent it to me. The manager apologized and the key to the room in my hands. And the young lady from the registration was scolded a little. So ask for such a letter, just in case.
Check with the tour operator where the bus stops in Nessebor. How far are you from the place of stop to the hotel. Maybe the hotel will provide you with a transfer service for an additional fee. The bus that travels stops at certain places, it does not carry tourists to hotels. And ask the driver (when exiting the bus) once again where exactly the passengers will be picked up on the way back. Have a nice holiday

We always travel with a travel agency, but fellow travelers from the train told us several times how they arrived, but they were not expected. It's good when there were free rooms. And if they are not? What to do? One girl was placed in an ironing room without air conditioning for 3 weeks. I'm so afraid to drive. But if you decide, then there MUST be an invitation with confirmation of the reservation, especially since the owner does not take an advance payment. Without this, you will not be allowed to cross the border.

It’s okay for you to intimidate a person :) Two years ago, we independently booked a private hotel in Nessebar without prepayment, and issued visas through an agency. Just in case, I asked the owner for a letter “for the embassy”, a week before the departure I reminded myself by e-mail, saying: “We are going to you, are you waiting?”, Having received an affirmative answer, we went to Bulgaria with friends in their car. They passed through all the borders without any problems, they did not check any confirmations-bookings from hotels. Everything is fine, we met, settled as agreed :) There is such competition among hotels in Nessebar ... If you don’t like something, turn around and find something better, up to apartments. This is when you have a paid tourist voucher and nowhere to go from the "submarine" - and here you are your own boss :)

this year I will go to Bulgaria 3 times without a tour operator, I book a hotel myself. I have never been asked to book a hotel at the border, but knowing our state, I still ask for a confirmation letter.
And the fact that it happened to me in the hotel, I negotiated with the manager, and not with the reception, that's probably why it happened.

What hotel did you book? How did you like it? Maybe next summer we will do it, if we have the courage.

Yes, many do! There are no problems! Don't like it - lots of housing! At the border, NOBODY asks for a hotel reservation, they only check the availability of visas

Thank you Natasha. Let's think. I have in mind one hotel in Nessebar, which is not in the offers of my permanent agency. It is called St. Nicholas. I already wrote to him, and then changed my mind.

Poola, why did I change my mind? We just went to "St. Nicholas": 0 http://www.turpravda.ua/bg/nesebr/Sv__Nikolay-h25144-r55389.html

She changed her mind because we are on the train and he meets us from the airport. Taxi from Varna is very expensive. How do you like the hotel. My friends are going to Nessebar this summer.

... we have a rest every year in St. Vlas ... if you need a calm relaxing vacation, you go there .. and Nessebar is nearby and the sunny beach with its bustle .. don't worry about housing .. it's full of it .. get to know bargain .. by the way, there are a lot of Russian speakers lives ... Bulgarians understand Russian ..

Poola, are you going to Varna by train?! As far as I know, trains also reach Burgas, and there is both a train station and an airport in Burgas. So it does not matter where to meet - from the station, or from the airport. In addition, there are direct buses to Nessebar (directly to the Old Town) directly from the station in Burgas. A bus ticket cost about 5 leva ($1-2 leva). . . The journey will take less than an hour, buses run frequently, on schedule. It takes longer to drive from Varna to Nessebar, two and a half hours, through the mountains along a serpentine (of course, this is not a Caucasian-Crimean serpentine, but still tiring). So if possible, it's better to take a train (airplane) to Burgas, if you plan to stay at such resorts as Slynchev Bryag, Sveti Vlas, Elenite, Nessebar, Pomorie, Sozopol take a regular bus to Nessebar (the bus station is located in close proximity to the railway station). Travel time is about 6 hours, the ticket cost around 35 leva (last year's prices). And you can read my impression of the hotel "Sveti Nikolay" at the link that I posted above - this is my short report on the trip at that time :)

Thanks, I'll read it. I know about the train to Burgas, it is from Moscow. And we are going from Minsk, we have our own train, special for tourists (something like a charter).

Wow! I didn't even know there was such a train! :) Well, well... Good luck!
