What to take to the familiar Bulgarians for a hotel?
We have friends in Bulgaria. Let's go visit them on vacation. What would you advise them to bring from food, drink, clothes, other things .... (except for all sorts of figurines); useful and interesting for the Bulgarians. Hope for help. Thanks.

Probably better to ask friends what they would like.
I bring win-win options to strangers on all trips abroad: Belarusian balm, Belovezhskaya tincture in damask, sweets, Kommunarka chocolate.
аватар yanushevich
I also thought about this topic, read, asked. Basically, they have everything. Candy, chocolate. But our bears, squirrels, truffles are not available. We ourselves, when we visit each other, we give sweets. You can buy good candy or chocolate. You can buy red caviar, but I read that they don’t understand and don’t love it the way we do. Although .... maybe you will like it. They also have a lot of booze, but maybe some special tincture ..... Maybe something from the dishes with our symbols. They have very expensive towels there (maybe it's for foreigners?). A small kitchen towel - 10-15 leva - this is 7.5 euros, this is 350-450 rubles. We have this costs 50 rubles. In general, I think that any thing, only with some kind of our national flavor, will always come in handy for them.

I won’t bring chocolate - I’ll go by bus.
аватар Alisa-Asol
I already thought about the tablecloth and napkins with embroidery...

Here is everything that I took my friends to Bulgaria:
- Red caviar
- marinated white mushrooms from the Carpathians (Verzhovina, Yaremche)
- Ukrainian vodka (I chose the best one on the advice of experts, although I don’t drink it)
- cognac "Armenian" 5 stars (I drink it)
- books with the history of Ukraine illustrated
- in 2012 a bunch of all kinds of dishes with emblems "Euro 2012"
- embroidered shirt size 58, barely fit - such a guy;
- for the hostess, the wife chose what I don’t remember, it seems jewelry.
He took the same thing to Turkey - he made friends there.
Bring what is only in Ukraine and your friends will be happy.

Yes, be sure to take a thermal bag, about six or eight cassettes (freeze well in advance), you can also bring chocolate (the Kyiv cake arrived perfectly the year before last).

In the end, you can take some cosmetics. They have a lot of rose water there. Well, you have yours, which they do not have. Not imported, in its own production. We bring a lot of cosmetics from there - creams, shampoos, soap, although we also have all this. And it takes up little space, and is not so hard, and will always come in handy.

I'm not an expert in this area, but a thought occurred to me. If your acquaintance is not a very rich woman, then take Ukrainian delicacies to make a table: smoked sausage, good lard (they like fat), good cheese and sweets. And they know how to make salads and banitsa. Even if in Bulgaria all this is also good, you will still save her the cost of a friendly dinner.
аватар Igor_m
Like Poola, homemade sausage, but not from the store, but from the market or from the village - everyone knows how to make it there! And be sure to cool the vodka, and 50 grams, no more!

vodka
аватар yanushevich
Yes, for sure, and don't forget the bread and pickles!!! Especially on the bus in the heat, you will bring everything very fragrant.
аватар Alisa-Asol
are you kidding??? products will definitely not go in the heat.
аватар yanushevich
That's it - just kidding! Who brings sausage as a gift in the heat???!!! They have enough food there. Yes, even think - I'll take it or I won't. You can also offend - sausage as a gift. Bring them something light and useful for the kitchen - beautiful towels, a cup, a tablecloth, a terry bedspread or a bathrobe, bed linen, something original from the dishes, maybe some super-duper house slippers are interesting, a beautiful stole, decorations ( and depending on age), an original jewelry box, maybe something made of straw. From food - sweets, red caviar, the original bottle of alcohol. If there are children there, be sure to bring toys. Bulgaria has a small selection of children's toys.
I'm thinking about what to take there as a gift. Probably buy good sweets, caviar, toilet water. For the seller in the store, who was very kind, there is a beautiful box made of birch bark.
Well, my imagination has run out. They have a lot of stuff there, of course, but a gift is a gift. Good luck!
аватар Alisa-Asol
very helpful advice. I will definitely learn. for kitchen. bathroom. bedrooms... I myself like such gifts... and I adore the stole myself... and I have a lot... THANK YOU... I’ll choose something for a couple, I think...

Something Natassha_Kiev is not connected. She knows better than anyone what the Bulgarians love. Natasha, where are you? And what, it’s really hot on the bus, is there no air conditioning or what? In our train, on the contrary, it is cool. We wear blouses with sleeves. And everyone has products, because there is no dining car. Products until the end of the trip in good condition. If it’s not like that on the bus, then only the vyshyvanka remains. Clothes, shoes and other things in Bulgaria are in a large assortment and of good quality. I heard about red caviar that they bring Bulgarians as a gift and they love it.
аватар irina_1901
By the way, towels are cheap there, I never bring them from home, we buy everything there. Ours is much more expensive.

yanushevich. After your comment "you can offend - a sausage as a gift", I doubted whether I understood the word GOSTINETS correctly. This is the word used by alla. I looked on the Internet. A gift is a gift associated with a TREAT, brought from somewhere. But not for everyone, a treat is something sweet. You can bring a lot of delicious things from Ukraine, although we also love your Roshen sweets. A souvenir is not a gift. But if there are such villainous conditions on the bus, then the question of food is no longer necessary.
аватар yanushevich
Dear Poola, I understood the word hotel as a gift. If you literally translate the word hotel, I agree with you - this is a treat. But the culprit herself said that she wanted to bring a tablecloth and napkins. That's why I advised, some of the things and souvenirs in addition to sweets and chocolate. In any case, I would not advise you to bring perishable products. Here, you could bring raw smoked sausage to Turkey - I didn’t see it there, but in Bulgaria, from the products, in my opinion, everything is enough. To be honest, I have been to Bulgaria only 4 times. Here I am going to go 5 times. If my advice is useful to someone, I'm glad.
аватар Alisa-Asol
no way. I also used it as a gift ... no need to quarrel ... I have never traveled so far on a bus and it seems to me that there will not be a refrigerator for everyone personally. Well, food for snacks - it's clear that everyone will have. And your advice is all useful for newbies like me !!! Thank you, Irina, yanushevich, Igor... for me all the ADVICE IS GOOD and USEFUL. buy something...
аватар Alisa-Asol
I will buy products in a closed form, and things ... will not quarrel .... I think ..
аватар Alisa-Asol
THANK YOU,,,,, once again....!!!!

speaking about myself, my Bulgarian friends are a separate amazing story. A long time ago, when I was still a child, I met a Bulgarian schoolgirl. We were friends with her for 15 years: we went to school together, then studies, youth, marriage ... then the correspondence was lost ... and for 20 years we didn’t hear about each other at all ... and now, when I decided to go on vacation, I remembered her friend of her youth, sought her out, she responded. She is, like me, a grown woman. This is such an unusual story. It is clear that a lot of time has passed, but the memory is preserved. She lives in Ruse, we will be in Albena. They promised to come to us by car. So I'm thinking what to buy for a gift-hotel ...
аватар Alisa-Asol
but everything is clear now. buy something different.
аватар Alisa-Asol
and one more thing: for the common development of all of us .... another meaning of the word GUEST.
Old Slavonic - hotel (high road).
Old Russian - hotel (high road).
The word "hotel" has been known in Russian for a very long time and came into it from the Old Slavonic language, where it meant "high road". The fact is that merchants traveled along the high road, carrying various gifts. Later, these gifts began to be called gifts. Originally “hotel” is a suffixal derivative of “guest” (common Slavic gost), hence the root connection with the words “guest”, “hotel”.
In the modern meaning of “gift” (usually brought from somewhere), the word “present” has been widely used in speech since the 16th century.
Related are:
Ukrainian - hotel.
Czech - hostinec.
Derivative: hotel.
аватар Alisa-Asol
and there is also such a meaning, as Irina wrote
Hotel - a gift, usually in the form of delicious treats
аватар Alisa-Asol
So everyone is right in their own way....
аватар yanushevich
Please, good luck and good mood. Hello Bulgarian friends from Russia. So I looked - we all communicate amicably - from Belarus, Ukraine, Russia. And we go to Bulgaria to rest together. Have a nice holiday and all the best.
аватар yanushevich
Have a nice holiday! So I looked - we all communicate amicably - from Belarus, from Ukraine, from Russia. Together we go to our friends Bulgarians to have a rest. This is great!!!
I wish you all the very best!!!
аватар Igor_m
And I will be right if I say that Bulgarians love everyone, and especially a good attitude that can be enhanced by any gift or hotel - "Nemirov with pepper" and a ring of homemade sausage (in a thermal bag) will make a splash in all of Bulgaria!
аватар irina_1901
Allah, we do not quarrel. Here on the forum it is customary to discuss. In fact, in Bulgaria there is EVERYTHING, but there is no money. So see what's best. And if your friends are in Ruse, be sure to find Natassha_Kiev. She now lives near Rousse with her mother-in-law. Something is missing...
