Weekend in Baku
We decided to fly for 3 days to Baku (from 1 to 3 August). The trip was planned, I carefully prepared for it. Impressions remained ambiguous. We decided to have a full rest and stayed at the most expensive and beautiful hotel Fairmont Baku. For 2 and a half days they gave 600 euros. Pts worthy room, super service, gave a map of the city, advised where to go and said that the city is safe, you can walk along the street at any time of the day or night. View from the room right on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Oh beautiful!! ! It’s hot outside during the day, it’s just UNBEARABLE hot, so, apparently, there are few people on the street.
We decided to take the subway. I myself am from Minsk, so I can say that it looks like our metro. It was interesting to observe ordinary people. Taxis, like in England, such old cars. There are practically no traffic lights and we had to cross the road all the time. A woman driving is a rarity, it is understandable - a Muslim country. In Russian they speak everything that could not but please.
In the evening, all the residents walk along the embankment. Surprised that there is no smell from the sea AT ALL! No moisture, nothing. It's the first time I've come across this. Was on the Black, Azov, Mediterranean Sea, but this was not anywhere else !! ! We walked until 2 am. We rode the funicular, but we traveled a very short distance. I did not understand the meaning of its construction.
As for nutrition, there are nuances. If you order tea, then you must definitely specify what kind of tea, otherwise they asked for black, and they bring it with bergamot, but I can’t stand it. Be sure to try to vtyuhat salad "Capital" everywhere. Of course, I understand everything, but, firstly, I don’t like him, and secondly, I can eat at home. Therefore, I had to explain that I wanted something national. In short, they brought a barbecue, and then it turned out to be raw. Therefore, if you want something, then you need to explain everything in detail, how and what. I liked the Baku ice cream, well, fruits are in abundance.
In general, Baku reminded of the Soviet Union, which is being carefully remade to look like Turkey, architecture and all that. You walk through the center, everything is so beautiful, dignified, and then abruptly you find yourself in the Old Town with dirty streets and dilapidated, dilapidated houses. People with their own politics of life, some strange or something, I don’t know. Tourists were practically not seen, and, apparently, they do not want to develop this area in the country.
And the most important thing!!! ! I have not seen a single drunken Bakuvian anywhere, and I have not seen anyone drinking alcohol in any restaurant or cafe. That's why I have a lot of respect for this nation.
