Now I am on vacation in Albania and my story will be more of a warning to tourists and not an enthusiastic review of the country. I have been traveling for 6 years now. I visited Montenegro, Greece (Corfu Island), Egypt, Switzerland, Finland, etc. And this year I wanted to relax in Albania. For certain reasons, I did not need active rest, excursions, but just the sea and the sun! This country was offered to me as an alternative by my travel agent, saying that he himself had a rest there, last year, in Durres. However, instead of this, the cities chose Saranda, because. according to the reviews and recommendations of travel agencies (now I understand that this is a LIE of the purest water and an unscrupulous rkklama !!! ) it was the MOST BEAUTIFUL place in Albania! My daughter and I (a girl of 12 years old) were not even very upset when we learned that it would take about 5-6 hours to get there from the airport. (at the same time, the flight itself was only 2.5 hours) We thought that the beauty of nature is WORTH IT! BUT. . . how wrong we were and what a disappointment awaited us!!!! ! Instead of beautiful nature and a warm sea, we saw DIRT, GARBAGE, BUILDINGS, the absence of any attractive vegetation, "bald" mountains, and in addition, a COLD sea! The fact is that in the place where we arrived (the hotel "Aler Holiday Inn") there is a mountain river that flows into the sea and the water does not warm up from this! Before that, I read the reviews of tourists, knew about the river, but everyone assured me that they DID NOT EVEN NOTICE the difference in temperature! But now, from my own experience, I know that there is a DIFFERENCE, and a HUGE one! It's like the temperature of the Red Sea and the Baltic!! ! For 4 days, my child has never been able to enter the water!! ! The weather does not please us either, it rains every day. Either in the morning or after lunch. In order to somehow entertain ourselves, we went to the center. . I had to walk for a VERY long time, along a dirty, in places devoid of any sidewalk street, next to open and smelly garbage cans. And only after 40-50 minutes of walking did we reach some souvenir shops. Only one of them was more or less filled with attractive souvenirs. . I can’t help but mention the cafe with Italian ice cream! It pleased with cleanliness, pleasant service and VERY tasty ice cream! All the rest....I'll leave it without comment! Believe that I am not a fastidious person, not a bore and not a whiner! I try to see ONLY the good in everything, but probably not this time! In addition, I note that if the cost of a ticket here was 2 times lower, then. . . Yes! there would be NO questions! and so.... The cost for 11 nights with breakfast is comparable to 14 nights in Egypt on an all-inclusive basis! Tomorrow I'm going to go to the advertised Ksamil (Albanian Maldives). . . I hope that in reality I will see what is in the photo of travel agencies!!! !
