In which emirate is it better to relax?
UAE
I would like to spend about a week in the UAE. The daily routine is the beach in the morning, cognitive trips around the country in a rented car from 12-00. Where is the best place to stay so that the hotel has its own good beach and that it is convenient to get to the main attractions from it?

Sharjah, Royal Beach Resort & Spa 5 * hotel. Directly on the shore of the bay, the water is clean, the beach is cleaned, there are enough sun loungers for everyone, lifeguards who really save even if you swim behind the buoys. There is something to see in Sharjah + not far from Dubai and the main attractions
аватар AlexZimin
This is definitely either Sharjah or Dubai. Dubai will be more expensive. Sharjah is located very close to Dubai, the main attractions of Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall are only 15 minutes away from Sharjah by car, but keep in mind the morning and evening traffic jams. If you are going to rent a car, be sure to read my article about car rental in the Emirates: http://www.alexzimin.com/arenda-avto-v-oae.html because there are many nuances there. Have a nice rest!

It is more convenient to live in Dubai. All the main attractions are located there, and there are beaches and entertainment. Of course, it is cheaper to live in Sharjah or in the capital Abu Dhabi. There is also something to see and where to buy, especially since the transport links between the cities are well developed. If the question of price is not worth it, then it is better to settle in Dubai Marina, the Dubai region or along the coastline along Jumeirah Road. If you go on your own, you can even rent an apartment. Seen rented houses overlooking the beach.
аватар myflat1
Dubai is best in Jumeirah, but prices are the highest here.
I cannot agree that it takes 15 minutes to drive from Sharjah to Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall by car - this is only if by helicopter. At least 40 minutes without traffic jams, and 1.5 hours with traffic jams for sure. At night, we drove from Burj Khalifa from the Atmosphere bar along an empty highway to the Grand Hotel Sharjah for 40 minutes at breakneck speed. )

myflat1 we lived in Sharjah at the Ramada Sharjah hotel (it is located almost on the border with Dubai) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggtaIw7RHcI&list=PLGtvExNDcVqVe5iZLIu1xS_3yHhJh98E7&index=4 and often went to Dubai Mall by car. Realistically 15 minutes, I spotted. This is of course without traffic jams. With traffic jams, yes, we could drive for an hour, but not 1.5. Direct road on Sheikh Zayed Road. It took 40 minutes to get to Dubai Marina. From there, about an hour or 1.5 (I don’t remember exactly) to Abu Dhabi, the same direct road. Traffic jams early in the morning from Sharjah towards Dubai and in the evening after 17 in the opposite direction. ollennka is going to sunbathe in the morning, so he is no longer afraid of traffic jams. In the evening, you need to return from Dubai after 21-00, there will also be no problems. Of course, ideally to live in Dubai, there is no doubt, but the question of price.

and we lived in Ajman on one of the 4 trips here http://www.turpravda.com/ae/ajman/Ramada_Beach_Hotel_Ajman-h12529.html
The hotel has its own beach with sunbeds across the road. And it was important for us for the fourth time. They fed excellently.
By the way, Ajman is the only state where alcohol is found at all. Bars of cool hotels do not take into account.
My review is here http://www.turpravda.com/ae/ajman/Ramada_Beach_Hotel_Ajman-h12529-r157053.html
аватар ollennka
den781, why do you advise me a hotel with cockroaches ???)))
Thanks to everyone for the answers, I will consider Dubai and Sharjah. As for the IDL, surprise, I thought that plastic rights would be enough. Apparently, I'll have to jump into the traffic police ...
аватар den781
And believe me this is not the worst hotel. Of course, if there is money, it is better to go to the top five.
about car rental and rights - apparently depends on the rental. We in Sharjah Rotana ( http://www.turpravda.com/ae/shardzha/Sharjah_Rotana-h8730.html) rented a car at the hotel and under the usual rights.
аватар lana_181
ollennka, have you already decided where you want to go? Maybe you don't need a rental car? The UAE is such a country that everywhere you can get there by taxi or by public transport. And I’m sure it will be less expensive than renting a car. I don’t think that for 50 euros (dirham))) you can rent it for a day.
аватар ollennka
I haven’t looked at the list of sights yet, I just have a feeling that renting a car is faster and cheaper than looking for a taxi every time.
аватар lana_181
ollennka, I think you are wrong here .. just taxis are everywhere and different! You don’t need to look for them. They are literally EVERYWHERE!))) Read the reviews. They are different .. the cost of landing is different, the fare .. In Abu Dhabi, a taxi is cheaper, in Dubai it is more expensive.
аватар ollennka
Hmm thanks, I'll have to check it out.
аватар AlexZimin
den781 Yes, you can take it at local rental offices and with ordinary rights. But in the event of an accident, you will be outlawed. How the insurance company will react to this is also a big question.
In large international companies, cars are issued ONLY if you have an IDL and a credit card.
In Russia, an IDP can be done at the traffic police, in other CIS countries you can order an IDP like mine. I talk about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufYpiI-BVqU&index=23&list=PLGtvExNDcVqWJZChzWBdscjDtJb5DROCU
This IDP has been personally verified by me in the Emirates, Israel, Sri Lanka, Europe and Thailand. In Europe, no one needs this IDL, but in the UAE, on the SHL and in Thailand, this is a very necessary thing.
Moreover, in Sri Lanka, my IDP is preferable to the official one issued by the Russian traffic police, in other countries there is no difference.
Why is it better to book a car through well-known international companies and not through local ones? Yes, because in international 1) cheaper, 2) you can safely book a car in advance via the Internet, 3) more reliable
аватар AlexZimin
lana_181 you can easily rent a car for $18 per day. There are places to go, believe me: to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah and El Ain, etc. By taxi, only in Dubai, and even then it is not profitable, more expensive than in a rented car.
аватар lana_181
generalissimuss, for 18 dollars?? In Dubai!! ? I doubt it .. I already know that there is where to go, do I write that there is nowhere?))) Who told you that taxis are only in Dubai ?? You can go from Dubai to any other emirate .. by taxi, or by bus. Why waste time searching, nerves, .. etc. on vacation? Although to each his own .. UAE is not Sri Lanka or Thailand where he took a bike and rode.
аватар AlexZimin
lana_181 You doubt, but I know for sure. The best service for booking cars in the Emirates is Rentalcars, you can see it here: https://goo.gl/Ba1KSm even for $17. (According to the link, the cost for 10 days is indicated, respectively, to find out the price for 1 day, divide the entire amount by 10)
On vacation, I also do not recommend wasting time searching, it is better to book a car in advance, at home in a relaxed atmosphere.
I'm not saying that taxis are only in Dubai. You can also take a taxi from Moscow to Vladivostok. That's just the price of the question? How much is a taxi from Dubai to Abu Dhabi? Did you travel? I doubt. The fact that a cheap taxi in the Emirates is an absolute myth! A taxi from the airport to the hotel will cost you 15-30 dollars. In addition, taxi drivers personally constantly tried to "ride" us, to bring us into traffic jams, I talk about this in my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bp5bhKuzKc&list=PLGtvExNDcVqVe5iZLIu1xS_3yHhJh98E7&index=15
аватар lana_181
generalissimuss, perhaps .. but in reality everything is not so simple with car rental, although it may be more convenient for someone. There are different and expensive taxis there, we also got into this)) and quite with adequate prices, not more expensive than in our city to take a taxi. In Abu Dhabi we went by bus and I’ll tell you very well. metro in Dubai and an hour later it seems (I have it briefly in the review) we arrived at the station in Abu Dhabi, no problems. We went by taxi everywhere in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Yes, not without it, sometimes they may not give back .. pretend that they forgot)) or for example, take you in a circle, but we also have such taxi drivers. You can always get out of the taxi if you don't like it)) Everyone has their own experience and I think it will be useful to those who ask anyway. Presented a picture..heat..SPEKA!! at 12 days .. they come from the beach .. and get behind the wheel where else to go. Well, this is not a vacation. mockery of yourself! But .. everyone decides how to relax.
аватар lana_181
At the expense of a taxi from the airport .. well .. do people go to at least some hotel ??! Truth? Then there is always a transfer, moreover, you can choose a hotel where there will be a free transfer (as we had) to the metro, to the shopping center and to the beach .. And then, we used it only a couple of times.

In order to have time to see the country in a week, I would advise you to book 2 hotels for 3-4 days - one in Dubai (or Sharjah - depending on the budget), the other in Abu Dhabi. For the first few days, travel around Dubai and its surroundings, see all the sights (by the way, here on Turpravda you can find most of them). You can see Sharjah, there are many museums, there are mosques.
Then move to Abu Dhabi. Believe me, there is also something to see and do. Only in the amusement park Ferrari World you can spend the whole day. To go to the UAE and not see the Sheikh Zayed Mosque (white mosque) is simply unforgivable. And of course, from Abu Dhabi you can go to Al Ain - in the historical heart of the emirate.
Be sure to make all bookings in advance via the Internet, it’s more convenient and in most cases cheaper (for example, a ticket to the Burj Khalifa or the Aquarium, which is located in the Dubai Mall, is cheaper online and plus you don’t stand in line).
Have a good rest, share your impressions later)

About excursions. In Abu Dhabi - $70. If you eat together - 2 * 70 = 140, if in four - $ 280. We traveled by car. Car rental - $ 20 per day, everything is free in Abu Dhabi - and the entrance to the mosque and abaya for women in the mosque (local women's clothing) and parking and the Bedouin village. We spent only on gasoline. We did not depend on anyone, we did not run after a guide, we devoted several hours of time to the most important thing - the Shayza Zayed mosque. They walked around it from all sides, calmly walked inside, took a lot of cool photos. This is just a grand structure, in my opinion it is one of the man-made wonders of the world! And our relatives went on an excursion, and they were given only half an hour to the mosque, but they took them to all sorts of souvenir shops and bought souvenirs! Definitely rent a car! Moreover, the UAE ranks first in the world in terms of road infrastructure! Here are some of the best roads in the world! Just one trip by car on Sheikh Zayed Road is worth it! I have never experienced such driving pleasure anywhere in the world!

What attractions in the Emirates do you want to visit by car?
аватар demanata2015
but on the contrary, I was lucky with excursions, more precisely with a guide, I’m glad that I didn’t rent a car. an excursion is not just a walk, but also to hear about the country, about the customs firsthand. I just had 4 full days to get the maximum information, so I chose excursions, ordered them even before leaving, and arrived on the very first evening for an excursion.
аватар ollennka
Well, here they mentioned a mosque in Abu Dhabi, a Bedouin village, an amusement park, Al Ain, Burj Khalifa. I'm probably going to visit them, plus I'll find something else.
It is fundamentally? It's just that I have the impression that the UAE is a micro-country, everything should be nearby, I'm going to see everything.
аватар lana_181
ollennka..how many days do you have? Everything will definitely not work out. The country may not be huge, but there are many attractions! Better plan what you want to visit. Take a jeep safari tour. if you like drive. go there! sunset in the desert..oriental dances...
аватар ollennka
)))) Well, ok, convinced. Went to make a list of places.
Duration 7-8 nights.
аватар lana_181
ollennka, well, then you will have time for a lot. The main thing is to prioritize correctly). Come, share where you were, what you saw and what's new in the Emirates!)

Tovarischi! What about Ajman? About Sharjah, I read that everything is very strict there in terms of clothing and alcohol. And in Dubai, no matter what beach hotel I look at, it is written about each that there is construction around or that the beach is not a hotel and you have to pay for sunbeds every time, that there are a lot of people on these beaches, and the sea is dirty (Palma).
Ajman seems to be suitable in terms of cleanliness and not crowded beach, as well as relatively free morals.

"Well, here they mentioned a mosque in Abu Dhabi, a Bedouin village, an amusement park, Al Ain, Burj Khalifa. I'm probably going to visit them, plus I'll find something else."
The Bedouin village is more profitable to visit as part of a group. And next to the Burj Khalifa, you still won’t find parking.
For the sake of the amusement park, Al Alyin and the mosque, take a car?
For the money that you spend on car rental, gasoline and parking, as part of the tour you will be picked up from the hotel and taken to all the sights with the guide's story.
Although there are tourists who like to pay more and complicate the rest....
аватар agent_borabora
Holidays in Ajman are cheaper, the sea is clean, the distance from the airport is small, only the skyscrapers are lower than in Dubai and nothing interesting from the sights.
