When choosing a place for winter recreation and recreation, the family council considered two main, previously proven balneological resorts of the Carpathians, these are Polyana in Transcarpathia and Skhidnytsia in the Lviv region. Since there was no binding to any particular mineral water, the choice fell on Polyana for several reasons. Firstly, this resort has two ski slopes in the village of Polyana, and these slopes are aimed at non-professionals and are accessible to almost everyone, young and old. Any downhill equipment, from skis to inflatable buns, is available for rent at reasonable prices. The second argument in favor of Polyana was a well-organized excursion program in this region and territorial proximity to natural and historical attractions, which are mostly located in Transcarpathia. And the last argument in favor of Polyana, according to the experience of previous trips, was the democratic prices for wellness treatments in the form of hydromassage, mineral baths and many others, and no one canceled the relevance of the issue of a good rest for a reasonable budget.
So, the choice with a place of rest and recreation has been made, it remains to buy railway tickets to Svalyava, the former regional center, and now the nearest railway station to Polyana, as well as book accommodation. When choosing accommodation in Polyana, you need to know the following. Historically, this resort has developed two centers of life, the village of Polyana itself, on the territory of which the trade union sanatorium of the same name with a pump room of mineral water Polyana Kupel is located, and the territory of the sanatorium Sunny Transcarpathia with numerous private hotels and sanatoriums, as well as a pump room of mineral water Polyana kvasova. There is also an excursion and tourist center of the village and two food and clothing markets. Along the highway, the distance between these two centers in Polyana is about 2 km. , In the area of Gornaya and Diskovetskaya streets, they smoothly merge into each other.
Therefore, when booking accommodation in Polyana, you need to focus on your priorities on vacation. If you need proximity to the ski slopes, then you need to rent accommodation directly in the village of Polyana, there are both private villas and hotels, as well as rooms in the houses of local residents. If the priority is a wellness vacation with access to Polyana Kvasova water and various medical procedures, combined with an active excursion program and shopping in local markets and shops, then you need to rent a house in the Sunny Transcarpathia region. There is a large selection of private hotels with their pump rooms of mineral water and various procedures and even swimming pools for every budget, as well as rooms and apartments in houses located in this resort area. Housing prices in one-room apartments usually start from 500 UAH.
For ourselves, choosing accommodation in the Sunny Transcarpathia region, we settled on renting apartments with panoramic views in the Arena VILLAGE complex, where a hotel with a restaurant is located on the lower two floors, and private apartments from the third to sixth floors. We were very pleased with one of these apartments - a good repair, necessary furniture, a fully equipped kitchen, household appliances, heated floors, internet, TV, a large loggia, everything you need for a good rest for a reasonable price. The bonus of this complex was its own mineral water pump room on the ground floor.
However, we were in for a not entirely pleasant surprise. During the very first walk around the territory of the resort, we learned that due to the energy crisis and the inability to reduce debit with credit, both trade union health resorts in the resort were closed, first the Polyana sanatorium, and before the new year, Sunny Transcarpathia, and together with the sanatoriums were closed and pump rooms with mineral water. And this, despite the fact that the use of mineral water has become paid for the last year. Situation from the series - "Never happened and suddenly again. " The lack of a sufficient number of vacationers has a depressing effect on the state of the resort, the situation looks dull, some of the outlets are closed, the walking paths are deserted, in the excursion center, travel agents almost grab the hands of a few vacationers.
But let's get back to mineral water, to that wonderful water that brought glory to the resort back in the days of Austria-Hungary. How to use mineral water if the central pump room is closed at least until April-May? That is why, the features of housing rented in Sunny Transcarpathia, in the current realities, are becoming especially relevant. Let me explain with our example. Having tried the mineral water for the first time in the pump room of our aparthotel, I was somewhat surprised by its quality, there was no carbon dioxide, there was an extraneous aftertaste. As it turned out, the water is still the same, Polyana kvass, but it is not flowing from the central pump room, but pumped into a barrel, and no one will tell you how long it has been there. There are two options left - either to settle in hotels where the supply of running mineral water is organized, or in other housing options, to purchase mineral water in such hotels. Therefore, when contacting hotel managers or apartment owners, when booking accommodation, it is imperative to clarify the availability of your own pump room with running mineral water. For us, such a hotel with running mineral water has become "Lileya", where it is enough even for organizing mineral baths. We in this hotel received hydroprocedures at affordable prices and used their pump room.
Every vacationer in Polyana, having dealt with his wellness program, thinks about organizing his leisure time. Since Polyana is a small village, especially in the area of Sunny Transcarpathia, there are no promenades, as in seaside resorts, so vacationers can manage their free time as follows. All conditions have been created for lovers of skiing and snowboarding to practice their hobby on two ski slopes - Katerina and Vedmezha. The first one is for beginners, located in the very center of the village, it has a rental office, two drag lifts of different lengths. Nearby is a trout farm with a restaurant. Vedmezha is located two kilometers from the center, where the tracks are longer, you can get there by special buses both from the center of Polyana and from Sunny Transcarpathia.
But, as they say, not skis alone. Transcarpathia is rich in its natural and historical sights, and the Solnechny region is an ideal place for sightseeing trips to these sights. There is a tourist spot on Kurortnaya Street, where numerous travel agents of different companies form excursion groups in different directions. These are trips to the castles of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod, and Lake Synevyr with the Shypit waterfall, a cable car in the village. Pylypets, visiting the thermal pools of Berehove and Kosino, and much more. Since this is not the first time we have been in Transcarpathia, in addition to visiting the thermal pools, we have chosen a trip to Mukachevo for the Cherveno wine wine festival and a trip to Pylypets, where there is a long chairlift that takes you up to the Borzhavsky ridge, and a visit to the Shipot waterfall is also provided. We liked both trips very much, although the level of participants in the wine festival was less authoritative compared to 2015, we calculated the best winemaker ourselves, even before the announcement of the jury's opinion. Fans of the festival had a lot of freedom, the program "full-drunken" took place.
In Pylypets, we had gorgeous sunny weather, which does not happen often, which allowed us to get great pleasure from admiring the mountain landscapes, to take excellent pictures as a keepsake. But excursion trips are not limited to the sights of Transcarpathia. If you have a passport, they are ready to take you out for one or two days to Budapest, Vienna, Slovakia. Fortunately, the proximity allows. You don't even need a vaccination certificate to travel to Budapest. The asking price is 100 euros. So with the proper amount of banknotes, your vacation in Polyana will be boring and meaningful. A few words for shoppers. It has a place in Polyana, especially in the region of Sunny Transcarpathia. From Hungary and Slovakia, cheeses and sausages and other gastronomic delights are brought to local outlets, there is something to bring to the hotels. There are shops with branded shoes, clothes from Hungary. So when making your budget for a holiday in Polyana, consider this.
In conclusion, I want to express the hope that such situations as this year with the closure of trade union sanatoriums and pump rooms at them will not be repeated in the future and a much larger number of our compatriots will be able to combine a wellness holiday with sightseeing and tourism.
