Artek does not smell!! ! There is simply no road in the hotel. You can get there only along the upper road, which runs along the edge of the territory of Artek, under the mountain. We got to this hotel on July 29th. We paid for two days (the most interesting thing about money, but it's a little lower). But from the first minutes of our stay, or rather after an hour and a half of waiting at the gate, it became clear what kind of service awaits us.

The word restaurant is not suitable for a catering area. And the owners themselves call it a dining room. But even in the cutlery, there should be enough for all visitors. Moreover, the hotel has 10 rooms. And if you ask to wipe the dust off the table and bring napkins, then they will answer you that the napkins are blown away by the wind. Although you will sit indoors. In general, Vanya, the son of the owners, did not bring napkins. But we waited for the spoons. The soup had already cooled down by then.
The beach, as it turned out, is completely different from what is announced on the hotel website. They, the owners, are talking about access to the equipped Artek beach. But this is absolutely not true! You will have access to a terrible viper between the beaches of Artek and impenetrable boulders. This piece of the beach is probably necessary that at least there was a semblance of compliance with Art. 6 of the Water Code of the Russian Federation. On this "beach" you can shoot a movie about the rest in the Crimea in the 70-80s. When there was no smell of civilization. And the guard, who is located on the border of this "beach" and the beaches of Artek, just laughs in your face from your naive question that your hotel has announced access to the territory of Artek.
Walk to the beach for about 25 minutes, and back, uphill, and even more.
Towels for the beach, which are supposedly provided, as you understand, were also missing. We asked them to provide. Vanya, the son of the owners Valery and Svetlana, said that he would bring it in a minute. Naturally, he didn't. After we returned from the "beach", again asked for towels. So he indignantly declared that he had given the order. And now what questions to him. The guy looks to be about twenty years old, but he does not know that the towels have no legs and they themselves do not come even if you give them an order.
Now here's something interesting. The family that runs the hotel turned out to be pathological liars.
On the evening of the first (and only) day, we went to the reception and told Svetlana and Valery that we would not stay at their hotel and would leave in the morning. They asked to return the money paid for the second day (day of stay 10.500). They said no problem. This is how scammers usually agree right away, who know that your vacation is ending and you will not spend it on sitting next to them and convincing (in a good way) to return your money to you.
I had to write a letter to them. Valery imposed a resolution to "pay". Svetlana said that in the morning she would make a transfer to the account, since we paid to the hotel on the account. And everything would be fine, but in the morning when the hotel owners arrived from the beach at 11 o'clock (they also get tired), we were told that now they have no time to make a payment. Although it is known that in today's conditions, payments can be made within 5 minutes. Moreover, Svetlana said that according to the law she has 10 days to return. She didn't say which law, though. We have clarified when the 10 days expire. She clarified that she meant working days and the return would be made before August 12th.
We were also charged 2400 for lunch without spoons and napkins, but with soup from a bag of Galina Blanca))
And when the deadline passed and the money was not returned, we called the hotel. The phone is picked up by the son of the owners, Ivan, who tries to be deliberately polite, but remains in his position. With money, even with strangers, he really does not want to part. Like all swindlers, he asks to wait and assures that all the money will be returned to us. That's just the question "when" he can not answer.
Here you are, dear travelers, who, like us, can fall for funny pictures and sweet stories, a story about how you can put yourself under a bucket of slop. It's not about the money, it's about how you feel used for your money.
This is a purely Crimean alignment. I want to make a reservation right away, not all Crimeans are like that. Now we are sure that no one will return 8100 (and we were not going to). The IP is registered to the daughter. Sorry girl. They use it in the dark.

Our vacation in TX was in June 2013, my husband and I and the child are 4 years old. This place really belongs to a relaxing holiday, there is basically nothing near the infrastructure, this is the only thing that didn’t suit us a little, it’s boring of course, both for us and for the child , and otherwise even 5! Of course, the waiters were still a little slow, but these are already trifles.

We rested with a family with a child 3.5 from the end of June to the beginning of July 2012. I’ll make a reservation right away, for those who like to count money, for “for so much you can have a chic vacation in Turkey”, the hotel will not work, as well as rest in the Crimea as a whole. My review is designed for people who are ready to spend quite a lot on a comfortable and interesting vacation.

The hotel is wonderful - small (probably 15 rooms), clean (we didn’t wipe it under the bed a couple of times during cleaning, that’s all you can find fault with), very comfortable - large rooms, with a large bathroom, a balcony with a table and chairs ( important for a family with a small child - they put bainki in the evening, and they themselves arranged gatherings on the balcony), plenty of beach towels (they were changed more often than we had time to use, plus towels on sunbeds by the pool), a restaurant with a varied menu, including children's and optional client delivery to the beach by car for free.
Linen was definitely not changed every day, it seems, once every three days, to us, to be honest, and that was enough. To be honest, I don’t really understand who bothers with the daily change of linen, they don’t wash at all, or what? ...The territory of the hotel itself is very small, but it manages to accommodate a tiny front garden planted with a dozen cypresses, along the paths of which the resting children really like to run, and there is a gazebo for parents. But in a five-minute walk, a half-abandoned Artek park is spread, I don’t want to walk, in the middle, which sticks out the cyclopean figure of Lenin’s grandfather, forgotten by everyone. We were so impressed that in the evening, upon arrival, we didn’t even reach the sea, until dusk we climbed this creepy place, reminiscent of the scenery for the Stalker game. You can also take a walk to the Bear Mountain and, if you wish, climb along its picturesque paths.
I did not really understand the review of one of my predecessors, which spoke of the need to go to the sea along a carriageway without a pedestrian sidewalk. Firstly, as I said, if desired, we were taken to the sea in a passenger car, and we had to go down on our own along the again abandoned Artek road, on which a huge chain hung at the entrance, blocking the entry of vehicles onto it. The hotel does not have a beach as such, we used the one where the Artek employees rested, it took about 10 minutes to go down from our mountain (but go up - wow! but the road is picturesque, worth it, and tasty - like everywhere else in Crimea, there is a lot of wild yummy here).
The beach is not equipped, you will not find sunbeds and umbrellas there, but it is not crowded, clean, pebbly, wide enough, in the middle of it a tiny river flows and flows into the sea, haunting neither small nor adult beachgoers - there is always someone in it fumbling, arranging dams, dams and other hydraulic structures. The sea for the entire time of our stay was clean, the water was clear, it was very good to swim with a mask. The hotel pool is small but there. By the way, about the service. At some point, four or five days, we floundered in it alone, only our small family and that’s it, however, they didn’t stop cleaning the pool for us every morning, coming for breakfast, each time the child admired from the restaurant terrace on, as he put it , "water vacuum cleaner".
The food in the restaurant is wonderful - tasty, varied, can be quite intricate, for connoisseurs, or you can just serve chicken schnitzel in company with cabbage salad, in both cases - you will lick your fingers, at prices comparable to prices in Moscow eateries like "IL Patio ", Planet Sushi", "Chocolate Girl", etc. The restaurant is proudly called "Eco" and fully justifies its name, the owners vigilantly monitor the quality of their products, growing most of the raw materials for their restaurant on their own - including poultry and various vegetables, the rest take from trusted farmers and fishermen. For not being deceived, I can vouch for my head - the fact is that my son is allergic, sensitive just to all sorts of chemicals in food, he ate everything he could reach there, and nothing was done to him.
There are some other spa treatments, but I don’t understand them and again I can’t evaluate them. There is no animation, the hotel is too small for this, on the website they had a children's room with a nanny, but in reality it was not, like a playground. True, the site is planned to be built in the near future. Without animation and a babysitter, we managed remarkably, but, here, the little one missed the playground with a sandbox and swings, of course. Near the hotel, a five-minute walk is a minibus stop, which can take one way to Gurzuf, and the other way to a wild beach with large stones and rich marine life. And there and there to go for about 15 - 20 minutes. Under the mountain, on which the hotel is located, there is one very remarkable place - the brand shop of the Massandra wines factory. Go to it at a normal pace for about half an hour. Massandra wines are presented there in an assortment that significantly exceeds Moscow.
And the prices are impressive - what we have is about 700 rubles. for a bottle, there, in terms of rubles, it was somewhere between 240 - 300. It is clear that we immediately decided on souvenirs! : ) In the evenings, from the restaurant terrace, we enjoyed the views of all kinds of Artek festivities held there every day, then spotlights on Bear Mountain drew all sorts of patterns, then fireworks-salutes decorated the sky. On the roof of the hotel there is a small observation deck, the views from it are amazing!
The conclusion from all of the above is that it is very pleasant and very comfortable to relax in the Thyssen House. True, not everyone. Definitely, lovers of beach and seal holidays in Turkey and Egypt should not go there. Also, young people will have nothing to do there - until the nearest disco, as they say, "two days on the dogs. "
There is nothing to do there for adventure hunters either - the place on the mountain is almost deserted, except for the flocks of Artek pioneers, respectively, you will not find promising companies of enviable men languishing from loneliness during the day with a lantern. Mainly, people who are in love with the Crimea, its nature, the sea, mountains, prefer a fairly active holiday, should go there. Demanding living conditions, but not in need of a pool bar and all-inclusive food on the beach. For example, families with children from five years old (ours was still too small, almost everywhere on walks you had to hold your hand so as not to fall down from somewhere), who love not only to sunbathe on the sea, but also to take a walk, climb, stare at surrounding wonders of both natural and man-made origin, it will be very wonderful there, and adults and children will like it.
Well, in conclusion, I want to once again praise the hotel itself and its staff.
Thank them very much!

We chose this hotel solely due to the description on the Internet and absolutely did not make a mistake with the choice. Beautiful villa with a small park, a restaurant (sea view) and excellent cuisine, a pool/gym and a small spa. Transportation to the private beach on request is free of charge, the purest sea water, next to the beach there is a cozy cafe of some sanatorium.

Transportation to the private beach on request is free of charge, the purest sea water, next to the beach there is a cozy cafe of some sanatorium. In the evening, you can arrange spa treatments (massage, body wrap). Very responsive staff, waiters, high quality massage therapist. European-level rooms with beautiful furniture, a bathroom with all bath accessories and bathrobes. In general, a good hotel of the highest category (for Ukraine) with a corresponding room rate (the windows of the most expensive rooms overlook the sea and a terrace). The only "disadvantage" of the hotel for vacationers without a car (and for some this can be an advantage) is the distance from Gurzuf itself, you had to constantly use a taxi (25-50 hryvnias), walking from the center for at least 45 minutes. In mid-September, the weather was fine (although in the morning you sometimes had to wrap yourself in a blanket for breakfast), a very warm and gentle sea, and relatively few vacationers. Gurzuf is a small town with a nice embankment, Chekhov's dacha and a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. With pleasure we will stop again if we come to rest in Gurzuf.

I would like to share my impressions of my last trip to Thyssen House. Prices, as you can compare with other hotels of this level, are the highest in Gurzuf.
But it didn’t seem to scare us away, because. in the spring (March-April) we rested there with the whole family and we really liked everything and the cozy room and service and delicious breakfasts and dinners. It was the off-season, we were welcome. We had a great rest - the air, Artek parks, etc. charms of spring Gurzuf. And even three days without electricity and hot water and heating (the day before a hurricane swept through and damaged the power grid) did not spoil the overall impression. The hosts are friendly and nice, the staff in the person of Evgenia Ivanovna is professional and helpful, the chef is a virtuoso. Well, what else do you need in the off-season, when the basis of relaxation is not splashing in the sea.
And under this impression, my husband and I came together for a week in October to take a breath after the bustling Kyiv. Breathe in the air, enjoy the silence, have a leisurely breakfast with taste and have a romantic dinner. Prices have become even higher (for some reason, the euro was equated to 8.0 hryvnia). Well, okay, health is more expensive. But from the very first hours of our stay, we realized that there were big problems with personnel and finances in Thyssen. Instead of professionals, half-sluggish clumsy. Further worse. Restaurant. The season passed, the cook left and some girl Olya fed us on the basis of what was left in the refrigerator. I won’t list the details - there won’t be enough time, but I’ll highlight individual episodes - seafood was served stale with a smell, but the price is -572 hryvnia per plate. Frozen sea bass fish with yellow old ribs - 150 UAH. We are not conflict people - we asked Olya to be more responsible in cooking, we hoped that this was still a misunderstanding, but then we got the impression that it was the policy of the owners - to feed us the refrigerator deposits, and generally accepted us in the lowest budget category, but the prices were set for the full program of a branded restaurant. I wanted to talk to the hostess Sveta, but she was busy all the time, and the administrator Masha is not responsible for anything - she only gives out the keys. In general, only thanks to nature, the sea and masseur Sergey Viktorovich, who cheered us up and strengthened our health (massage is just super) our 7 days of rest did not turn into a nightmare. After all, Thyssen is far from Gurzuf and it is very difficult to choose another restaurant for dinner.
P. S. In Gurzuf, there are now a lot of good quality hotels - Balgatura, Villa Marina, etc. See the Internet, compare prices, learn from our experience. Do not immediately pay for the entire period (as we did), if you don’t like something, then there is an opportunity to change the hotel.
Sincerely, Galina.
