On October 01.2020, we booked a room for 7500 rubles per day. for the period of the New Year holidays from 12/31/2020 to 01/02/2021. According to the conditions of booking, it was necessary to make an advance payment in the amount of the cost of one day, which we successfully did.
On December 10th, more than two months later, I called the hotel to book an extra room for my friends. They confirmed the possibility to me, BUT they additionally threw off the information that !!! ATTENTION!! ! On October 15, the head of the administration of Sevastopol ordered that all hotel guests must provide a COVID-19 certificate received no later than 5 days before the date of check-in.
To say we were shocked is an understatement. We were informed about the need for certificates almost on the eve of the holidays, although the order of the head of Sevastopol was dated mid-October.
Naturally, we were forced to cancel the booking, because we did not expect to pay extra for certificates.
I asked for a refund of the full cost for the day, to which I was answered that in any case they withheld a commission of 5%. I never received an answer to my letter that the hotel unilaterally changed the terms of the contract without notifying me in advance. As a result, the money was returned minus this commission.
Findings:
- the hotel did not bother to send information to customers in advance about the order of the head of Sevastopol;
- if I had not applied for an additional booking, it is not known when I would have known about it. There could be a situation that I would have received this information less than 7 days before arrival, when the FULL amount for one day is withheld!!!
- the hotel deprived us of the opportunity to make a reservation elsewhere (for example, a recreation center where certificates are not needed), because after December 10 everywhere we were told that there were no more places, which is logical.
In general, draw your own conclusions.
