The sun has warmed up again, the holidays for workers are coming. It is a great idea to visit Vinnytsia in the warm season, a wonderful Ukrainian town with its rich history, ancient charm and modern Roshen fountain.

We went with the Kyiv company Anga-Travel to a two-day tour "Mysterious Stories of Great People" in July 2015.

As always, the program is very rich, but so that tourists can fully absorb the information, to begin with after arriving in Vinnytsia, check in at a cafe for lunch. And after - a cultural program. Lunch, I must say, is very decent.

The first object - the Museum-Estate of the outstanding surgeon NI Pirogov.

Honestly, we didn't expect her to impress us so much. It is located in a picturesque place, which was the estate of Vyshnya (now it is part of the city of Vinnytsia),

Around a huge green area.

Many plantations were planted by Pirogov himself.

Now it is also a fashionable place for wedding photo shoots.

But the museum's exposition itself is beyond praise. The most interesting paintings, tools, several halls are dedicated to the defense of Sevastopol in the Russo-Turkish war in 1877 (there Pirogov invented the plaster bandage and first used it), wax figures of doctors and patients, which really reflect the reception,

operating

and the office of the Zemstvo doctor.

There is a pharmacy that sells medicinal herbs grown here, and fees according to the recipes of Pirogov himself.

I will not describe in detail, but it is a very interesting museum, there are great guides and we learned a lot of interesting things.

After the museum we go to the tomb of NI Pirogov. It is located elsewhere.

Pirogov's embalmed body lies in the family tomb, above which the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built.

On the way to the hotel we drive to the military hospital.

Hospital area

It is interesting that patients in its territory have arranged a whole park with fairy-tale figures,

Sphinx on the territory of the hospital

Pyramid on the territory of the hospital

made from improvised materials with their own hands.

Fountain on the territory of the hospital

The territory of the hospital, thanks to such creativity, is more like the territory of a kindergarten

Шрек

or pioneer camp. Everything is very positive.

Ivasik-Telesik

Now tourists are brought there.

We settle in the hotel "Podillya", it is in the city center. The description believes that it is completely reconstructed, but in appearance - the usual old Soviet five-story building.

Modern sculpture on the square of Vinnytsia, in the background hotel" Podillya "< / small>

Managers cheated during the settlement: instead of a double room with a double bed, they gave out a single "superior" with one and a half bed.

They gave it to us as a double! Closely? Not that word!

We tried to clarify at the reception whether they were wrong. But no one raised an eyebrow!

No other numbers available - there was an answer.

There was neither the time nor the desire to find out the details. We decided to spend the night one night.

Refreshed after the road, went on a sightseeing tour of Vinnytsia.

It is impossible to get to know Vinnytsia without walking along Soborna Street - the central artery of the city. Here you can admire the oldest monuments: the Transfiguration Cathedral, the white church of the Virgin Mary, the hotel "Savoy".

Well, and of course, it is impossible not to say about the Vinnytsia tram.

Famous Vinnytsia tram

Legendary blue trams from Zurich, Switzerland run briskly through the streets of Vinnytsia. Free Wi-Fi is available in each car.

The first Transfiguration Cathedral on our way.

Transfiguration Cathedral of Vinnytsia

It was built in the 18th century by Paolo Fontana, a famous architect of the time.

The cathedral was originally a Catholic church. The conversion of the Catholic Church into an Orthodox church took place in 1832. This event was marked by the installation of domes on the roofs of the side towers.

Nearby is the Jesuit Church, which now houses the Museum of Local Lore.

To my shame, we didn't get there, we didn't have enough time.

Not far from the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Vinnytsia is another cult building - the Church of the Virgin Mary. Its construction was supervised by the mayor Ludwik Kalinowski. In 1746, when construction was completed, the church became one of the tallest buildings in the city. Like most religious institutions, the Church of the Virgin Mary had a bitter fate.

The presence of followers of the Roman Catholic Church in the Russian Empire was not welcomed, and in 1888 the cathedral officially ceased to be a cult building.

In 1991, the church reopened its doors to the faithful. A sculpture of Pope John Paul P. is now installed next to it

An interesting object for tourists - a water tower. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Water Tower

During this time, the building witnessed the difficult history of the city. The water tower, designed by GG Artinov in the city center, has long performed its original functions, but after the Great Patriotic War, the house lost its purpose and converted into living space.

And only in the mid-80s of the last century the tower was transferred to the Museum of Local Lore. It now houses the Museum of Military Glory and the Memorial to Afghan Soldiers.

At the beginning of the XX century in the city center, at the intersection of Soborna and Kozytskoho streets, the Savoy Hotel appeared, which is still the hallmark of Vinnytsia.

Vinnytsia, Savoy Hotel

The hotel was built by architect Grigory Artinov

Архитектор Артинов

by order and at the expense of the merchant Berisha Lechtman. For 1913 it was a very modern building with an autonomous power plant, elevator, hot water supply and asphalt entrance.

A few years ago, the so-called "Window of Life" opened in Vinnytsia. The window is located in the building of the medical center of the Roman Catholic Church.

Window of Life

Do not leave children, leave them with us!

- Such posters are found all over Europe and call on mothers who have decided to voluntarily give up their children, not to abandon them, but to leave them in the "Window of Life". The window gives hope to save the lives of children, because you can bring a newborn here completely anonymously. The Window is funded by the Convent of the Daughters of Mercy of the Canons. As soon as the child enters the window, the alarm system in the building immediately goes off, the child is examined by a doctor and transferred to the Mother and Child Center.

The sun is leaning towards the horizon. We are moving smoothly to the Southern Bug,

Southern Bug embankment in Vinnytsia

In its sleeve, the most spectacular Roshen light and music fountain has been operating for several years.

Рошен Фонтан

The show starts at 9 pm, and from 6 pm people occupy not only the equipped seats, but also the steps and passages.

Well, everyone gathered? Are you all ready?

Then let's start! The show program, they say, changes regularly, but I am sure that there is no better fountain show in Ukraine. At first, the fountains are simply illuminated.

Рошен Фонтан

and change the pictures,

Evening show of fountains

and then unfold into one large screen, which begins the projection of cartoon figures.

Evening show of fountains

Then singers in Ukrainian costumes "come out" of the fountain,

Singers" come out "of the fountain

and after them dancers in the Ukrainian "Hopak"

Dancers dance" Hopak "

and all this with great sound.

Song" Horses Walk "

Stunning! Bright, extremely, very impressive!

The only country - the only country

Recommended for everyone!

The show lasts one hour, but the evening lasts and the city, gradually immersing itself in the summer night, seems to live according to its usual routine: after the fountain show, everyone goes to cafes and restaurants. On the open terraces until the night, just like in Italy, eat, drink, socialize, and just enjoy life. Cozy and somehow homely.

After dinner and walking around the city until night, we walked back to the hotel, good thing it is located in the heart of the city.

However, as it turned out, this is his only plus.

In vain they tried to fall asleep together on a narrow bed and a half. Heat +35, spinning like snakes on a frying pan. In addition, local bikers began to gather in the square under the hotel windows.

Motorcycles roared, biker girls screamed, our closed windows did not help at all. There was also a waterfall from the ceiling in the bathroom at night. Apparently, the neighbors upstairs tried to take a shower in a newly renovated room…

After a sleepless night, breakfast also did not please: our group was served by a sleepy girl who did not have time for anything. There is no tea, no slicing, nothing ...The Swedes would probably be ashamed of such a buffet.

We had breakfast in half with grief, but, as they say, the sediment remained.

Now the tour operator has changed the hotel, apparently after numerous complaints from tourists and did the right thing! This was the only negative impression of the whole trip.

But we are grateful tourists, charged with positive and always ready for new experiences. And we have a boat trip on the Southern Bug. How beautiful and green all around!

Kayaks on the Southern Buza

Southern Bug - a river with a "character". Despite the deceptive calming impression, the river is often rapids, it is interesting for rafting enthusiasts. To prevent intermittent floods, many dams have been built on the Southern Buza. One of them is in the Vinnytsia region, in the village of Sabariv.

Dam near Vinnytsia

A pleasure boat sails to it, and we walk to the bus stop through the dam. Unusual impressions. You can't walk on dams everywhere. At the bottom of the threatening vortex, the water roars, as if warning us not to relax. And the weather is amazing: the sun, warm water, people on the beaches.

Oh, it's a pity that the beach is not included in our program!

After the walk we go to the village of Brailiv (it is 50 kilometers from Vinnytsia).

Palace and park complex in Brailov, on the river bank. The moat was built in 1868 by the rich railway magnate Karl von Meck.

His wife, Nadia von Meck, arranged the estate.

Park in the estate of von Meck

The estate went down in history thanks to the friendship of Nadezhda von Meck with the great composer. PI Tchaikovsky.

П. I. Tchaikovsky

Their acquaintance was in absentia - for many years, by mutual agreement, they communicated only by correspondence. Five times from 1778 to 1780 Tchaikovsky visited the von Meck estate without a mistress. Here he wrote the opera The Maiden of Orleans and several romances.

We visit the museum-manor, where the great composer Tchaikovsky visited. Of course, the park is running now,

Park in the von Meck estate

and in the estate itself, only the wing was allocated for the museum, in which, in fact, Tchaikovsky lived when he visited there.

Wing, which hosted PI Tchaikovsky

The main building now houses the Braille Vocational Lyceum.

There are also two religious buildings in the village of Brailiv - the Trinity Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Trinity Orthodox Convent.

Instead of the Trinitarian monastery selected by the Moscow authorities in 1831, the Roman Catholics built a church in Braille in 1879, also consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity.

Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Brailov

The church was built on the site of Braille Castle. This large temple, even by modern standards, is still the tallest building in Brailov.

Across the road from the Trinity Church is the Orthodox Holy Trinity Convent. Its facades are pale green.

Holy Trinity Convent in Brailov

The history of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Brailov begins in Vinnytsia. In 1635, with the efforts and means of the nobleman Mykhailo Kropyvnytsky, a nunnery was established in Vinnytsia. This was the period of revival of Orthodoxy in Ukraine, associated with the name of Metropolitan Peter Mohyla. With the coming to power of Polish King Jan Casimir, the monastery suffered persecution. Then there was the union, the decline, the poverty.

In 1795 during the reunification with the Orthodox Church began the revival of the monastery as an Orthodox. There are two miraculous icons in the monastery - Brailov-Czestochowa and Brailov-Pochaiv icons of the Mother of God.

The Brailov-Czestochowa icon, which was in the monastery before the revolution, became famous for its many healings. Next to it are the so-called pendants - this is people's gratitude for the treatment. This icon is also worshiped by both Orthodox and Catholics.

Territory The territory of the monastery is very well-groomed, flowers everywhere. Some time for an independent tour of the monastery, we look in the monastery shop, and our journey comes to an end.

Very rich and interesting program. The accompanying good summer weather in full gave the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Podillya. I want to come back again, 2 days is very little!

There is something to see: Hitler's pond Werewolf, the town of Nemyriv with the famous palace of Maria Scherbatova, and the town of Tulchyn with another masterpiece of classicism - the palace of Count Potocki, where he met his future wife Sophia, for whom he built the most famous arboretum. , and a lot of interesting things. Well, see you, Vinnytsia! It seems that we have grown a little spiritually.
