We went with my wife and child (3 years old) to Skadovsk in July 08 - we recently returned. The place was recommended to us by friends who were there in June. Naturally, we surfed the entire Internet before the trip and looked at what the rest would be like. We didn’t have much money, because we were doing repairs, but we wanted to spend 2 weeks and have a little rest ourselves and improve the child’s health. And have a great rest!
To begin with, I’ll say that Skadovsk is not Turkey or Crimea, but everything for a normal holiday is there. We were told that this is almost the only "children's" resort from Soviet times. And the thing is that the sea near the coast is quite shallow and warm with a lot of iodine in the water - very useful for children. I swam a little further and the sea is of normal depth there, that is, the paddling pool is only near the shore. And indeed, there are a lot of children recovering there. The beach is well equipped, which surprised me. There are any entertainments for children: from water slides to carousels in the Amusement Park. But there is everything for adults too: a good embankment with fountains, restaurants, bars, discos, many slot machines, etc. history, just class!
We went by train to Kherson, from there by minibus to Skadovsk - they stand right at the railway station and go, in my opinion, every 30 minutes. We arrived in Skadovsk and rented an apartment in the city. We decided to see something. For a day we were charged 110 hryvnias (about $23). We knew that we would move closer to the sea, and went to look for a hotel.

On the embankment they found the hotel "Amaliya", it stands there next to the hotel "Nika". There were no seats in either one or the other, and we were advised to go into the courtyard to the left of Amalia herself, and find out if there were seats in Amalia Plus. Well, we went there without much hope. To our surprise, we went into a quiet courtyard where this Amalia Plus stands - a three-story hotel with the letter G. We stopped there and that's why.
Firstly, on the first line, they went to swim on the beach, and they could eat or relax / change clothes in the room. Secondly, everything is new - they opened this year: a fairly spacious room, TV, refrigerator, shower, parking. There is a summer kitchen, there is a stove with gas, all utensils. We settled in a room with two beds on the first floor - although there was a choice of 3 beds. And all this for about $ 50 per day, albeit without meals. But we didn’t stress about it, there is a restaurant in the yard where we dined for $4 (a normal set lunch). I can say that the prices for fruits there are not at all "resort" and there are a lot of fruits, I remember taking peaches for $ 2 / kg. Of course, there were punctures, for example, the power was turned off for half an hour, but they ran to us, warned us and apologized. In general, people are normal friendly, without rudeness as in the Crimea.
In general, we had a normal rest, the child was delighted and did not get out of the water. And the aunts rubbed their shores with algae - they said that they were curative. Very good economy class stay. I recommend!
