Christmas Express in Kyiv!
Today at 13:28 we saw the departure of a real steam locomotive for the first time in our lives! We already had attempts to get on steam locomotives in a couple of countries, but they did not match either in terms of dates or along the route. I'm used to describing the wow effect of certain travel quirks, but today the Christmas Express brought that effect to the max. Highly recommend!
Tomorrow, 01/09/2022 at 13:28 (the date is already in the past) it will also depart from platform number 1, Kyiv-Passenger station. You can fully enjoy its departure from the second platform for free (as we did) or you can ride it for a small price by buying tickets on the railway website on the route Kyiv pass - Demeevskaya (but the tickets are already over, if they don’t suddenly add another car ). But personally, our opinion is that the most spectacular thing is not to ride, but to look at the departure from the side in order to see all the greatness and power : )

Thanks for the pics. I haven't been inside and probably never will. It is hard to imagine a situation that we will begin to return the temples of the UOC, and not vice versa. So in the USSR it was restored and was closed for entry. And now it has been given to one of the heretics and the Orthodox cannot go there.
Спасибо за фотки. Внутри не была и наверное уже и не буду. Тяжело представить ситуацию, что у нас начнут возвращать храмы УПЦ, а не наоборот. Так что в СССРе она реставрировалась и для входа была закрыта. А сейчас она отдана кому-то из еретиков и православным туда заходить нельзя.
Yesterday I accidentally caught a curious story on TV. The meaning is that once upon a time, one of the Kyiv newspapers decided to make a joke and on April 1 published sensational news - the bells broke off near St. Andrew's Church (I don't remember why) and rolled down the wagon. It would seem that everyone knows perfectly well that the church does not have any bells, however, all of Kyiv came running to look at this miracle. As it turned out, half of Kyiv did not know about the absence, and the second half came to look at the first one.
Вчера случайно попался по телеку любопытный сюжет. Смысл такой, что когда-то давно одна из киевских газет решила приколоться и 1 апреля опубликовала сенсационную новость - у Андреевской церкви пообрывались колокола (не помню, по какой причине) и покатились вниз по узвозу. Казалось бы, все прекрасно знают, что у церкви никаких колоколов нет, тем не менее, весь Киев прибежал посмотреть на это чудо. Как оказалось, половина Киева, таки не знала о наличии отсутствия, а вторая половина пришла посмотреть на первую.

Iren48, thanks for the addition! Indeed, they say that there was such a joke at the beginning of the twentieth century. And given the fact that St. Andrew's Church was constantly going through some kind of bad things, it is not surprising that all of Kyiv fled there. :)
Iren48 , спасибо за дополнение! Действительно, рассказывают, что был такой прикол в начале ХХ века. А с учётом того, что с Андреевской церковью постоянно происходили какие-то негаразды, то неудивительно, что весь Киев туда сбежался. :)
