Turunc-Marmaris-great!
"From all sides we hear rumors that,, " having read rave reviews about Marmaris, having heard a lot of ohs and ahs of our travel agent about the beauty of the Marmaris embankment and the fabulous nature around. . . we decided to give up and check whether Marmaris is really as beautiful as it is painted. This time we were not lucky with the hotel, we have not rested in such a viper in the entire history of our travels, but we will tell you about beauty in order; Nature, everything is wonderful here. Beautiful, lots of pines. High mountains above, below the most beautiful sea bays. I liked the Aegean Sea with some especially blue water. Turunc - having read rave reviews about the beauty of this village, they were disappointed. A village is a village. Four streets with lanes, a couple of hotels, a tiny mosque, a post office, a small cozy embankment with a narrow strip of beach around a mountain with pine forests. They wrote Turunc - this is a village for gastro tours (seafood and Turkish cuisine) - this is true. There are many restaurants and cafes here. Prices are "kopecks" for Europeans, for Ukrainian "rogues" in a group of 5 people it's expensive. On the street farthest from the sea, there is a good bakery (bread, baklava - 60 lire kg, cookies - 40 lire) - delicious! On the same street, in the Antik restaurant every Saturday, the Turkish Night show is held (the cost in mid-May was 80 lire per person). Didn't go. There are several markets with fixed prices (Migros, Sok, 101) Of these, Migros is the most expensive. The bazaar arrives on Monday (a lot of goods for every taste (delights - from 60 to 120 liras per kg, nuts - they took a mixture (hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds, pistachios) - 50 liras fruits, vegetables, cheeses, olives - from 25 to 35 lira, teas, clothes) you can bargain well. We were surprised at the large number of foreign (judging by the English speech) pensioners who buy vegetables and fruits in large volumes at the bazaar - what else do they cook there? There is absolutely nothing to do in the village. There are two training grounds and one for children. For those who do not like to fry on the beach, and in the evening to sit in a cafe, the boredom of death. Upon arrival, immediately change the currency to lira (everywhere they are asked). There are also plenty of ATMs (they took money without problems from the Privat card). . 75 lira and water taxi 20 lira one way). Sertantin in Marmaris is very decent (it can get sick) We went to the fortress, wandered through the streets of the old city, along the embankment, admired all kinds of yachts and ships. Eating out in the city is expensive (on the waterfront). We walked 3 blocks deep from the tourist center and immediately found a cafe for the locals - you take a plate and they put different dishes on it (the principle is simple - you got a full plate, you paid 13 lire). Free bread and a small bottle of water. Desserts are very tasty - the price is 7 lire. Locals eat there (clerks, hard workers, etc. ) the staff does not understand Russian, but speaks English, they explained. We walked along the famous street of bars (not impressed, it was daytime and everything was closed). I would certainly like to go back there again. What personally annoys me in Marmaris is the promenade next to the road. There is no such thing in Alanya (in the Cleopatra Beach area). Probably Marmaris is more of a youth resort. The most pleasant thing for me in this region is excursions. There are a lot of them and the sea ones are especially good. Bought them in Green Idyma travel - very close to our hotel. I didn’t like the jeep safari here (they carry it on ordinary roads, no extreme). Yes, and they have a "trick" there - dousing with water from water pistols - in my opinion, idiocy, especially in cool weather. We drove to the Maiden's Spit - you can walk knee-deep in water 600 meters, to the Turgut waterfall. Lunch was meager and tasteless (people got their butriks. Then you could buy honey there in the village (cheaper than in Turunc). They didn’t really show anything, didn’t tell anything, didn’t like it. Ephesus is a one-day excursion. in Icmeler, transfer to a big bus (with a Russian-speaking guide) and go. Somewhere around 8-30 - breakfast at a roadside cafe (tea, coffee, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese, honey, jam, black olives, olives, oil) We passed Muglu, Aydin, then a stop at a sweets shop (with a free tasting of Turkish delights and halva). The prices there are adequate from 23 to 32 lira for a box of half a kilo (people took it). Then immediately to Ephesus (you could walk there for 2.5 hours - if you want, you want with a guide). A lot of impressions, very beautiful! I definitely recommend a visit! After Ephesus they take you for lunch (the buffet, after our hotel, I was struck by the abundance of dishes and the presence of meat). After lunch, there are three options for continuing the tour (1-visiting the archaeological museum of Selcuk, 2-visiting the Basilica of St. John and the fortress 3-visiting the House of the Virgin Mary). You must choose one (free ticket). We managed to visit the museum (for free) and the basilica and fortress (for money). Nearby you can visit a unique mosque for free (square and very interesting courtyard). After that, home to the hotel, the bus is good, comfortable, not tired at all. They have a two-day excursion - Ephesus-Pamukkale (after Ephesus they are taken to Pamukkale - there is an overnight stay and an excursion - in the morning you are the very first on inspection). We're sorry we didn't get it. Excursion to the islands of the Aegean Sea-pick up after breakfast-again a small busik-Ichmeler-Marmaris-then boarding a yacht in the Maiden's Spit area. Gorgeous excursion-wonderful landscapes visiting the islands stopping for swimming in the open sea unlimited drinks (including beer). Delicious plentiful lunch. Great! There were not very many people on the yacht - there was enough space for everyone. Organization of excursions at height. Buses arrive on time. Guides are excellent groups divided into English and Russian speakers. Everything is fine. Prices - Jeeps - 400 liras for 5 people, Yacht - 720 liras for 5 people, Ephesus - 275 dollars for 5 people. I liked the tour company. I recommend. We ourselves went on foot to Amos (the ruins of the ancient city). Do not believe the sign from Turunc (there are not 2 km, but all 6). There-uphill, it's easier back. Amos has great views of the sea and bays. I would not like to return to Turunc itself. In Marmaris, you can (for the sake of excursions) and you must choose a hotel very carefully.
