Pig life or how we rested in Viking Star (July 2009)
The town of Kemer is located in a picturesque area of the resort coast. The mountains that protect Kemer from behind and the wonderful coast, in my opinion, make its central part one of the best vacation spots in the Mediterranean. Well, we were lucky with the choice of location. Now the hotel in Kemer got us on roulette.
Viking is a chain of hotels in Turkey, Viking star ***** is one of them and is located in the center of Kemer. In a relatively quiet, off-road location. To the right of the facade there are a couple of small unfinished hotels, to the left there are sheds where cars stand and where a food market is located on Mondays. We were lucky and the windows of our room overlooked the inside of the hotel, where the pool and mountains of wonderful beauty were visible.

The hotel itself, as we were told, was built last year and it was noticeable, everything is brand new, everything is tasteful. Located like on the second line. There are two beaches, one pebbly (closer) the other sandy, we were assured walking is possible. We checked that we really went to the sea (pebble beach) before breakfast every day, it takes up to 10 minutes. True, from the hotel to the beaches, the bus runs from 9.30 to 18.00 according to the schedule, we used it very conveniently and there is nothing wrong with that.
The beach is pebbly, there are umbrellas, there is a large shelter from the sun, there are enough sun loungers for everyone. The water is clean, if there are small waves in the morning, calm in the afternoon, the water is clean again. True, in order to go in, and especially out of the water, it is advisable to have appropriate shoes (pebbles).
The sandy beach is located at some distance from the pebble one, but walking is also possible. The nature on the beach is more interesting, the water is an amateur (sand rises), at the entrance to the water there are also small stones.
I had to carry towels and water with me from the hotel, towels were not given out on the beaches, drinks were paid, showers (ice water). There is no animation on the beaches, and no entertainment at all, we sometimes got the impression that the entrance to our beaches is free.
And in the hotel by the pool, animators entertained children and adults with various activities and games to the music. There was a tennis table near the pool. Nearby there is a bar with various drinks. Only being at the pool you understand that you have all inclusive.
Towels were changed at the hotel every day from 8.30 to 11.00 and from 15.30 to 17.00 strange time, the first bus to the beach at 8.30, you can sunbathe until 18.45 (the sun goes over the mountain). First there were full-length towels (2/3 sun loungers), then came across a smaller size (we called them handkerchiefs).

Cleanliness of the hotel is excellent, the room was cleaned every day, towels were changed on request. The staff knows a couple of words in Russian, but does not understand anything. At the reception, an elementary knowledge of the English language came in handy. There was an impression that this language is difficult for some of them. True, during the entire stay we were struck by something else, like at the reception, especially in the mornings, when we alone, heading towards the sea, passed through the lobby past them, they did not notice us point-blank. Having some experience of communicating with the staff at the reception, we are used to being greeted when they see us, at first we greeted them, we were answered, then we tried to stop, they were silent, it seemed they were doing things to which we had nothing to do with.
The bar in the room was filled before our arrival 2 * 0.5 water. The rest of the time we used these bottles, filling them near the lobby bar at our discretion, you want water, you want painted over drinks.
I was surprised, with an all-inclusive system in the room, a safe for a fee of 3 euros per day.
They poured (beer, hot drinks) in three places of the hotel from 10 to 22.30. Local drinks were included in the all-inclusive system, all imported and ice cream for money.
There was enough food. The truth is mostly harsh. A good assortment is presented: bakery and pastries, there are not many salads, but you could pick greens by hand, olives up to 10 types, cheeses up to 8 types. Meat and fish dishes, in principle, lacked. To be honest, I got heartburn on the 3rd day, I tried to limit spicy food, then painted over soft drinks. They gave little fruit, for such a period watermelon, melon, oranges? Freshly squeezed juices for money.
Air conditioning (split system) super - did not interfere with sleep, worked quietly and cool.
The contingent of vacationers is mixed, many locals, Normans, but many of our people. The staff treated everyone the same.
Animation is good almost every evening there was a certain program. After the program at 23.00 to 2.00 there is a disco (drinks for a fee). The hotel had offers to visit the bathhouse (free of charge), all procedures and services there, if desired, for a fee.
Offered free shipping to shops to choose from: leather, gold, textiles. Leaving the hotel, it was not difficult to understand that the prices in stores here are almost everywhere unrealistic.

They offered to visit once for free, an Italian restaurant, on a pre-reserved date, a couple of Italian dishes to choose from, water (drinks for money). Separate entrance, comfort, furniture, everything. A couple of busy tables. Snacks, dishes, fish and meat were prepared quickly and tasty, it was forbidden to bring drinks with you, and in the restaurant their cost surprised us. The non-alcoholic evening was a success.
We were a little surprised by the readings of thermometers in the village. In the very heat, everyone showed up to 37 pounds when they wanted to see 47. Yes, but the water in the sea was warm like soup.
The hotel is good and we were lucky with the rest, the main thing is to have the appropriate mood…
