I do not recommend staying at this hotel. Vacationing with my wife. The first negative thing you encounter is catering in a buffet restaurant. Half an hour before a meal, 40 people line up to take a laid table. This is not because there are not enough tables, but because half of them are not set, there are simply no appliances (nothing to eat), or it is pretended that they are busy with someone.

But if you give a coin to the waiter, the table is instantly served or vacated, and everyone around you is running and smiling. Everything is done so that you pay the waiter.
For breakfast, you can take drinks (juices) yourself, but already at lunch and dinner, you can only take them through the waiters, which involves tipping. In general, everything in this buffet restaurant works to extort money. If you didn’t give money, you won’t find a free table and a fork (the forks are hidden far away in the cabinets, don’t try to find it yourself, the fork is the currency, the waiter’s gold reserve).
It got to the point that we had a conflict with a waiter named Walid, he found fault with us for no reason, he was rude and pointed at us with his fingers. This went on for 3 days. And all because we did not pay a tip, one wonders why and why should I pay in a buffet restaurant? On the fourth day, passing next to our table, he began to grunt. Then I wanted to go to the police. The issue was resolved thanks to our guide Irina and the management of the restaurant, he was fired at the same moment. I want to thank the director of the restaurant, his deputy and Irina for firing this scoundrel. But the story did not end there, after that some waiters did dirty tricks to us, stole forks, glasses, but they couldn’t do anything, it was funny to watch how they try to harm us. The waiters, though dressed in suits, are real savages.
This is not all-inclusive and not 5 stars.
The buffet restaurant is a HOSPEN NEST and the wasps in it are wild, everything is working to get a coin out of you.
The beach is the same. There, the beach guards take the sun loungers, and then they sell them for a fee. To take the sun loungers, you need to go at 05.00 in the morning.
The administration takes no action.
The vacation was ruined, I do not advise you to rest in this hotel only because of the boorish, extortionate, arrogant attitude of the buffet restaurant staff and beach workers. If you want to be humiliated, forced, extorted, rude for your money - this hotel is for you.

Rested from 15 to 28 July 2018. We chose a hotel for a long time, where to go to Sousse, Djerba or Mahdia, after reading a lot of reviews, we decided to stay at the Mahdia Palace Thalasso 5 hotel. We decided to fly with Tunisian Airlines, which we regretted. Planes take off with a delay of at least 1-3 hours. The reason is not clear, the Boeings are old, there is no comfort. We arrived at 5 am local time, it took a long time to go through customs, because there are a lot of people, and there are only two customs officers, and they reluctantly look through documents and stamp passports. The road to the hotel took 1 hour 20 minutes, there was no guide from the Express tour, when you first visited Tunisia, there was a complete lack of information about the country. They brought me to the hotel at 0630 in the morning, the rooms were occupied, the hotel was full, they promised to check in at 1600, but they were lucky, they settled in at 1430, apparently, the presents with the symbols of the 2018 World Cup, which I took prudently from St. Petersburg, influenced. The room is spacious with a view of the sea and the pool, close enough to the reception, the beach, restaurants and the SPA center. Floor -1, which corresponds to the second floor, respectively -2 is the first floor. The hotel itself is quite large, the rooms are located around the perimeter, you can get a room in one of the wings of the building, from where it is not very convenient to get to frequently visited places. According to the all-inclusive system, it is possible to visit the lobby bar - open from 1000 to 0000, the American bar from 1700 to 0000, the beach bar from 1000 to 1700, there is also a pool bar, but it is paid and a fish restaurant - by the beach itself, also paid. Animation is mediocre, every day the same thing. Two Russian channels on TV. The territory is well-groomed and large enough, everything is clean. The entrance to the beach is closed from 1800 to 0530 in the morning. If you book sunbeds, then you need to get up at least at 0630 and immediately book places on the beach, by 0900 there are practically no places. The beach boys fill up some of the sun loungers and then sell them to the afflicted for a modest fee. In fact, natives are very fond of tips, and who doesn’t love them? If you give small amounts (2-5 dinars), then the attitude will be completely different. The contingent of vacationers is 50% foreigners (Slovaks, French, Germans, Poles, Italians, there are Balts and Arabs), the rest are Russian-speaking. Slovaks are like brothers in general! The next day after arrival, we met with the main guide Irina, who quite clearly explained everything about excursions, departure, local customs, the shops closest to the hotel and the SPA center, without straining anyone, if you want to go - if you don’t want to relax at the hotel. Friends took an excursion to the zoo, then spat there for a long time - 4 hours on the road and 2 hours on the zoo itself. Meals in the restaurant take place in two shifts, it is better to come first, in line for dishes, and this is understandable, with a full capacity of 1200-1300 people. A lot of different dishes, but everything is for an amateur, very tasty desserts: cakes and cakes. For breakfast, freshly squeezed vegetable juice, alternating every other day with tomatoes and cucumbers. For lunch and dinner, dry wine: white, rose and red. From fruits: pineapples, watermelons, apples, plums, nectarines, grapes, peaches. Ice cream 4 types - every day, very tasty. If we compare the climate, then Tunisia is an average between Turkey and Egypt, everything is very comfortable, white sand and clear sea. The service is certainly not so hot, but it just corresponds to the pricing policy. Room cleaning daily. The hotel has a shop where prices are 1.5-2.5 times higher than outside the hotel. It's better to go outside, right in front of the exit, across the road, there are three shops where you can find the same thing, but at a lower price. In general, there is nothing to bring from Tunisia, there is argan oil and creams, soap, dates, spices, olive oil, cheese. We did not go to the city and the market, because we had seen enough of the slums when moving from the airport to the hotel. On the beach there are jet skis, a parachute, a banana, a sofa, etc. , the prices are reasonable, lower than in Turkey. They pay everywhere in dinars, the exchange rate is the same in the country, the exchanger at the reception, you need to take a certificate otherwise you won’t exchange dinars for dollars or euros at the airport. Now a little about SPA procedures: there is a SPA center at the hotel, the chief doctor studied in Russia, therefore he knows Russian quite well. There is an imposition of a set of procedures, it is possible to bargain on prices, payment both in dinars and in dollars. In general, the procedures are not bad, but there are certain problems, somehow - masseurs are not in a hurry to fulfill their direct duties, and in order to spur them on, they have to be scared by communicating with the head doctor, if the session time is prescribed from 0900, you can easily sit until 0930-0945, it’s better , probably, to take separate procedures, but not a complex. In general, I liked the rest despite some negative problems that I indicated above. Very good reviews from tourists, and from friends about the island of Tunisia (Djerba Island), but this is not for everyone, the island is an island, there is nowhere to go. The hotel is suitable for a relaxing, relaxed holiday.

Our vacation began with a flight with Bravo Airlines, an oasis tour operator! Two days before departure, the flight was rescheduled from 13.40 to 23.00, but even though there were no delays at the airport, we left on time. And back, they were supposed to fly at 7.35 in the morning, the day before they moved to 23.15! Enjoyed the rest of the day! It took 40 minutes from the airport to the hotel.
The hotel is located near the city of Mahdia. 7 min by taxi. The city itself is not big, there is a Medina, a market, on Fri. big market, there are cafes. On the waterfront there is a beautiful cafe "Cape Africa" (like so), there are delicious freshly squeezed juices (according to the advice of experienced tourists) and a beautiful view of the sea! Unfortunately, on our arrival it was Ramadan and the cafe was not working, but we were able to sit and see enough of the beautiful view.
The hotel is beautiful, on a grand scale, a huge staircase, a fountain under it, a beautiful hall, large panoramic windows, you can fully enjoy the beautiful view of the territory and the sea. The sea is very beautiful, every day is different, snow-white beaches. Clean and well-groomed area, quite compact, everything is always nearby.
At the reception they quickly solve any problem, good English from the receptionists. Here you can change the currency to the local - dinars. I advise you to change, it is more profitable than paying in dollars or euros. Opposite the hotel there are shops, cafes. You can walk in both directions, there are different shops.
The hotel also has shops, an ATM, a photographer works (you can order both a couple of photos and a whole photo session, pay only for the photos that you will take (5 din / 1 photo). Wi-Fi worked both on the territory and in the room.
Our room was on the first floor, which is very convenient with children. Near access to the pools, beach and restaurant, bar. The room is large, clean, we had a 4-bed. Solid furniture, one double bed, two single beds, bedside tables, a large dressing table with a mirror, a table and chairs, a cabinet with a large flat TV, a mini fridge. In the hallway there is a spacious wardrobe, a large mirror, a cabinet for a suitcase. Separate toilet and bathroom. Toilet with bidet. Everywhere is clean, without mold, snow-white bedding and towels, bathrobes. Hot water all the time, good water pressure and flow. Free safe. Quite a spacious balcony with a table and chairs, there is a small dryer for clothes. Cleaning is good, always clean and washed. In general, very good conditions. By the way, tiles are only on the first floor (-2), on the other floors there is carpeting everywhere.
The pools are clean, several levels of depth 0.80-1.60m with fountains, also a large children's pool with a fungus and a small slide in the form of a frog. More, unfortunately, there are no slides. Round bar by the pool is paid! There are very few sun loungers near the pool, about 50-60 pcs. But you can also sit along the beach line, from the side of the hotel on the lawn. It is very comfortable there, a fence of bushes and flowers does not let the wind through and creates an additional shadow, close to the beach, toilet, bar, shower, pools. The beach is windy, protection would not hurt. But a very beautiful sea! Entrance is great, no extra shoes needed. Excellent with children - far to the depths. White sand, lots of shells.
Sun loungers and umbrellas were delivered all the time, according to the number of vacationers. We saw that a lot of new sunbeds in boxes were brought in - they are preparing for the season, there should not be a shortage.
On the day of our arrival on 05/20/2018, the water in the sea and the pools is invigorating, a day later it even rained, we were alone on the beach) But after that, the weather improved, it became hot, the water in the pools is quite warm, the sea is cooler, but also comfortable, The kids enjoyed swimming!
Toilets, showers are at the entrance to the beach, and on the territory near the pool. With cleanliness!
Restaurants and bars. On the territory of one bar - Near the pools, on the way to the beach. Pretty cozy, good service, normal selection of alcohol and water, delicious different cocktails, coffee machine. Works 10.00-17.00. however, it closed already at 16.50, which is a little strange, since there are still a lot of vacationers around, I could easily work until 18.00, since there is no other bar in the pool-beach area, but it’s somehow not convenient inside in a swimsuit....
Two bars inside the hotel. On the -2nd floor there is an American bar, open from 17.00-24.00. cozy, there are tables outside. And on the 0 floor, near the reception bar, open from 10.00-24.00. The saxophone or the piano plays there in the evenings. With a lack of dishes, places in restaurants and bars did not come across.
In the bar on the beach, and near the reception at 10.00, they also put out croissants with buns, and in the afternoon you could have a snack with sandwiches. Also in any bar you can ask for snacks (chips, nuts).
The main restaurant is located on the -2 floor, snow-white tablecloths, napkins, smiling waiters. The cuisine is quite tasty, wonderful pizza, a variety of sweets (eclairs, shortbread baskets with fruits, delicious cakes, cookies, various mousses, very tasty ice cream, good wine. There are always 3-4 types of fruits. There is always a lot of everything, everything was enough for everyone, everything was in abundance.
Everywhere a small tip will improve and expedite your service.
There are two more a la carte restaurants, have not been, I can not say anything.
Animation! For adults, it’s quite normal - gymnastics, aqua aerobics, volleyball, water polo, beli dance, archery, darts, different shows in the evening (karaoke, skits, etc. ) You can keep yourself busy. In general, we had an active vacation, thanks to Ahmet (Mario) for this - gymnastics, Aqua aerobics, etc. I did not like that the music was only near the pool and then by the hour - in the morning from 10.00-12.00, then from 15.00-17.00. The beach is quiet and boring, but the sea is gorgeous!
Children's animation is not very - mini disco in the evenings, there is a mini club. Several times we went to the mini club - all the time it was closed. We found one of the animators, then they called and opened it. There are several games, puzzles, pencils, plasticine, etc. It is difficult for them with children, as there is a language barrier. The animators speak Arabic, French, a little and not all English. If adults can still somehow explain themselves, then it is more difficult for children. Well, in general, children's animators - 2 girls are somehow about nothing...
Once a girl-animator named Lola, invited the children to the mini club, came up to us, I let the child go with her. Brought in 30 minutes, I ask what did you do? Malay says that she made them a tattoo, but she didn’t do it to him because it costs 10 dollars for a fee....Somehow the question arises why you took children without parents (it is clear that they are without money... ) and why you didn’t offer them normally to parents right away... A very strange individual... Another case when, after a mini disco, she said that she had gifts for everyone children. All the children happily ran up and the situation....- they gave a leaflet with their name in Arabic and some of the children simply do not receive these leaves for unknown reasons... of course, tears are also upset... Why do this? Either to everyone or to no one, despite the fact that there were always few children there, those who constantly go there could already be remembered....
This hotel has a thalasso therapy center. Very beautiful, everywhere there are candles, aroma sticks, a room for tea drinking and relaxation. There are many different massage and beauty treatments, but as for me, the main treasure of this center is the presence of two pools with sea water! In any weather, you can always enjoy and improve your health in such a pool. The water there is more concentrated than in the sea and very warm, probably 40 degrees. The pools have a variety of different massage devices, jacuzzis, etc. In general, you can do all the necessary massages, only using the pool. The policy of the center is as follows - if you take at least some procedures in the center, then the pools, sauna and hammam are free for the whole family. And in the center you need to bargain, as elsewhere, the sum you named can be reduced by 2p. I advise everyone to visit for sure!
The impression of Tunisia was good, a beautiful civilized country. There, no one bothers you in the market, bazaar or shops. Yes, there are problems with garbage, but not critical. We really liked Tunisia, as well as Mahdia.
Would love to come back to this hotel! Have a good rest, I will be happy to answer if you have any questions) I will upload a photo the other day.

Rested with a friend since October 8th. First time in Tunisia. Before that, with friends in Turkey and Egypt. The hotel is good. I liked everything or almost everything. The weather was generally pleasing too. The sea blooms a little. The food seemed a little monotonous, but it was not a problem. In the end, we did not come here to eat, but to relax and improve our health. The animation team is great! Especially Rami! Cheerful and kind man. I can’t say the same about the hotel center Thalasso therapy. I took a trial massage. The doctor Nizar advised me the massage therapist Ahmed. Already during the procedure in the booth, I noticed not entirely appropriate “touches” and “strokes”. At first, I didn’t think that it seemed, but after the procedure, he began to frankly pester me, inviting me to his apartment in the evening, where he promised to do some mind-blowing spa treatments. Yeah, stupid Alibaba, found a fool : -) I promised that I would think, and then run from there. I didn’t go there anymore, although I wanted to do body wraps. A friend, looking at my terrible experience, signed up for procedures with a girl and everything went well for her. We also went on an excursion on pirate ships. It was fun. And the travel agency presented a towel with its logo, which was very pleasing. I recommend the hotel.

When choosing a hotel, we were guided by the rating (reviews) and the price seemed attractive, but after arrival we were disappointed.
About everything in order.
Pros:
1. Beautiful, well-groomed territory.
2. Nice beach, entrance to the sea.
3. Animation (although during the day they turn on creepy pop music, sometimes either a group of Leningrad and mothers of small children from all run to the DJ with requests to turn on something else)
Minuses:
1. Internet. Yes, it is paid in the hotel, in the neighboring ones it is free, so often in our corridor (it was just possible to catch the grid of the neighboring hotel) vacationers spent time with tablets and smartphones.
We decided to buy the Internet ($16 per week), as a result, it worked only 2 days and mainly in the hotel lobby, and on the rest of the days - due to weather conditions - there was no connection. As a result, we bought a card for the phone and distributed the Internet from it.
2. Nutrition.
Uniform is putting it mildly.
It’s quite acceptable for girls (I even lost weight on all inclusive), but for men who are used to eating delicious food ...The choice of fish is very poor, meat - chicken and turkey, half of the tables with food are empty, and there is a queue for the other half (minutes 10-15). There is no good black tea (green too), and if you don’t hurry, there won’t be enough cups (similarly with glasses at dinner). Once a week they serve ice cream for dinner. The queue is 20-30 minutes. Every day at 16:00 you can refresh yourself with pancakes with tea / coffee. The queue for 15 minutes, give 1 pancake in hand.
Once a week you can go to an a la carte restaurant, where they will bring you food from the main restaurant with a slight variation (for example, if the main restaurant has separate plates with sausage, cabbage and cucumbers, they will bring you the same but under the guise of a salad), menu in a la carte standard, choose only the cuisine - national, italian...
3. Hotel.
Drinking water 1.5 l is issued by coupons in the bar of the hotel lobby. 1 bottle per hand.
That is, if you brought 2 coupons, then they will still give you one bottle and tell you to come later with the second coupon.
Upon arrival at the hotel, they will give you an A4 sheet with a description of the hotel (diet, animation, spa treatments), but you will not find information about where to get towels, for example, or about the hotel plan. I recommend taking your own towel, because they are issued on bail and if the receipt is lost, the deposit is not returned.
4. Host.
We flew with the tour operator Oasis (the host of Insight travel).
The guide at the hotel was only interested in selling excursions and, preferably, more expensive. Once I heard the Coral travel guide in the lobby telling tourists about the hotel, I learned a lot of new things.
The day before departure, no information was found on the stand about our transfer. We called the guide and heard that since there were two of us, he did not go to our hotel, but the bus would arrive at 6:15 in the morning.
We left at 6:15 in the morning, there was no bus either at 6:20 or at 6:25...
From the third time we got through to the guide and we were told that "Japan is not here for you, if the bus is late for 10-15 minutes - it's okay" : )
In general, this is the worst hotel in our personal rating so far.

I stayed at this hotel with my wife. Quite a decent hotel. Beautiful compact territory. The hotel itself resembles an oriental palace! The room was on the 4th floor with a sea view! They gave $20 upon arrival and got a nice room. Meals were taken all inclusive, in general, everything is fine, except for breakfast! There is nothing, the choice is very poor! For 5 * weak! It wouldn't hurt to improve it.

It wouldn't hurt to improve it. Lunches and dinners are top notch! I liked the bar, there are always free tables. I liked the beach very much. The water is very beautiful and warm, white sand. There were enough sunbeds for everyone. The main plus of this hotel is, of course, the thalassotherapy center. Every year people stay in this hotel because of him. A good doctor, I don’t remember his name, he understands Russian. Hello to him! The wife took herself a full range of services, she was satisfied. I took massages, hammam - I liked it. For visitors to the center free Jacuzzi with sea hot water. Here they sour for hours at lunchtime. Delicious free herbal cinnamon tea! There are a lot of shops outside the hotel, there is where to go. We will definitely be back, I hope they will work out all the shortcomings. Recomend for everybody!

Decent big room, free in room safe, friendly staff. Good cuisine: veal, lamb, turkey, fish, mussels, shrimps. You can eat anything with harissa. Watermelon, melon, oranges, unripe peaches, nectarines, apricots. Ice cream, confectionery for children. Good quality bukh, wine of average scall - but from grapes, beer is quite.

Polite fast waiters. Beautiful sandy beach (although the wind caused algae). Turquoise sea. Nirvana! Rest satisfied. The all inclusive card is given to the number, you need to carry it with you. Hotel for those over 40.

I'll try to be brief: + Gorgeous beach - fine sand + gently sloping coast + clear sea! + Near the hotel there are a lot of shops with fixed prices and even a zoo, everything is cultural and friendly. + Quite an interesting mini golf course, 7 dinars for adults (4 per child) - 18 mini golf courses, this is an hour of great time (preferably after sunset, this is after 19).

+ Quite an interesting mini golf course, 7 dinars for adults (4 per child) - 18 mini golf courses, this is an hour of great time (preferably after sunset, this is after 19).
- Far from the capital, excursions in that direction are delayed for 3-4 hours.
+ Close to El-Jem town, 50 minutes by taxi, it's worth seeing!
- Misunderstandings with Wi-Fi
Upon arrival, they were delighted with free Wi-Fi, two days later they said
that he is now paid, 15 dinars for 6 hours of access, a trifle, but unpleasant.
+ In-room safe is free.
+ Cleaning every day, towels thrown on the floor are changed regularly, bed sheets every two days, shampoo and soap are always in stock.
+ Big restaurant, decent food.
Food - buffet, drinks are brought only by waiters, when ordering, specify the room number,
if you have ALL INCLUSIVE (there are not many of them, the hotel is mostly foreigners) no more questions, if not, you will have to pay the bill.
This fuss is confusing at first, then you get used to it.
+ The waiter at the bar will serve you in any case, a tip of 1-2 dinars will reduce the waiting time for drinks to 30 seconds.
+ Ramadan had practically no effect on vacationers.
The only difference was in the opening hours of the restaurant and nearby shops, at 19:30 they were closed for half an hour.
- There is quite a lot of construction (and not only) garbage along the highways, but this is not a big minus, the locals are actively building and this pleases.
+ We left at night and were very surprised how cities change. There, life is just seething, a lot of neon lights, working cafes, much more beautiful than during the day (perhaps this is a consequence of Ramadan).
In addition, at night you can not see the garbage : -)
= Impressions from the rest are generally positive, on a solid 8 out of 10 point scale.

Upon arrival in Tunisia, I was struck by the impudence of the porters, with evil eyes they directly pulled the suitcases out of their hands. Tunisia is a very dirty country. Cow heads, tails and stomachs hang in the streets in butcher shops. At the hotel, the porter met near the bus, helped with the suitcase, was polite.

Cow heads, tails and stomachs hang in the streets in butcher shops. At the hotel, the porter met near the bus, helped with the suitcase, was polite. Brought glasses of juice. Settled quickly without additional charges. They gave me a normal number. Everything is fine, only curtains with holes. Beach with old sunbeds. The sea is clean and warm. The sand is white. The beach is being cleaned, but cigarette butts are lying around. You have to ask for a mattress for a sunbed from the beach workers. They are very kind to foreigners, and they throw mattresses to Russians with a displeased face. Also at the reception. Foreigners will be served first, while Russians are ignored or spoken rudely. Feels neglected. You have to come to the restaurant before opening. Otherwise, you will sit at a dirty table and without appliances. Little food, but you won't go hungry. Coffee and drinks in vending machines are not drinkable. The fruits are ripe. Fish and seafood are delicious. The meat is tough. Sweets are very tasty. Yoghurts are good. No animation. The kids club stinks of sewage. The territory of the hotel is small, there is nowhere to walk. The sellers on the beach are arrogant and clingy. Everything can be bought in the supermarket next to the hotel. Before leaving early in the morning, a pipe burst in the toilet, but they repaired it quickly. Overall, this hotel was a bit of a disappointment. Much better in Turkey and Egypt. When exchanging money everywhere they deceive, carefully consider.
