I hope my review will be useful, since apparently, the last one was 1 year ago. Check-in: We arrived at the hotel around 22.00. We were greeted kindly, took documents for registration, took our suitcases, put on bracelets, and sent us to dinner. Of course, we did not expect to have dinner, since the dinner time was already over, but nevertheless they did not forget about us, which we were pleasantly surprised by.

Settled us immediately after dinner in a very nice room overlooking the sea.
Room: Room on the 4th floor, clean. Toilet, separate bathroom, cotton swabs in the bathroom, 2 shower gels, 2 shampoos, towels. Bed 1 - double bed, unfolded sofa, TV, bedside tables, armchair, table with table lamp, chair. The room is relatively quiet (on certain days there is karaoke by the pool in the evenings), and the view from the balcony is gorgeous.
Pools: there are 3 of them, and 1 more for kids with a depth of 0.5 m. I don’t know about others, but on the first day we went to the pool at 9.00, then there were no more places. Likewise on the beach. I had to take seats every morning at 7.00 (fortunately, the time difference of 2 hours is only at hand). The pools have a bar - where you can take water and have a snack (croissants, muffins), and of course, not only a "snack".
Beach: The water is clean, but cool, the sunset is gentle, the sand. It was calm for 3 days, but then it stormed a little and caused algae. Traders of toys, blankets, drums, etc. walk along the beach. Non intrusive and friendly. At the exit there is a small kiosk with drinks.
Food: Very good, mostly almost European (spices and olive oil are separate). Breakfast - omelettes, scrambled eggs, vegetables, oatmeal, pancakes, donuts, cheeses, sausage, pastries, fresh juices, coffee machine, cappuccino, latte, etc. , tea, fruits. Lunch and dinner are almost the same, except for the variety of meat and fish, seafood. There were also themed evenings (sushi, fondue, cheeses, crabs, Tunisian dishes). For dessert, several types of ice cream and small cakes and pastries. From alcohol wine (red, white, rose) and beer. In general, we really liked the food.
Snack bar: Pizza, donuts, ice cream, drinks.
Animation Entertainment We have never been interested in animation, but here the guys are just great, they set the atmosphere throughout the day and evening, they talk, lure, invite.
This is the first hotel where we wanted to stay for a couple more days. If there were any disadvantages, they were somehow compensated for by the pros. Have a nice holiday everyone!! !

"The main thing is to be positive, and then some shortcomings will not be noticeable. " That's what I told myself when I was going to sunny Tunisia for 6 days in June. There was little free time, but to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Moscow, swim in the warm sea, see the sights, oh how I wanted to. What we wanted: a good family hotel, full board, heat, sea and...nothing to do for example). The choice fell on Tunisia. After studying reviews, photos and videos on the Internet, I took a ticket to the Iberostar Royal El Mansour Hotel & Thalasso 5 * and did not regret it. Decent hotel for the "middle class" without all these gilding, carpets and antiques. Upon arrival, and it was at eight o'clock in the morning, we were immediately put on bracelets and taken to breakfast. No sooner had we left the restaurant than a smiling porter led us to our room. We didn't have to wait a minute. We swam in the sea in an hour! So, the pros of the hotel: 1 - Impeccable food. Huge selection of dishes for every taste.
Do not listen to those who write that there is nothing to eat. It's full of food. There are always several soups, meat dishes, grilled dishes, fish, several types of pizza, pasta, fruits, six varieties of ice cream, sausages, sausages and so on and so forth. Not everything is just amazingly tasty, but on the whole, I always found everything for myself and was never hungry. My wife and son were also satisfied with the food, although my son is still that picky, unlike me. 2. - Bartenders. Almost immediately, upon arrival, I went for a walk to a bar near the pool. Having ordered a cocktail, I encouraged the guys with a tip, they were delighted, they scanned me and I was the "king of ceremonies" for the whole rest. I sincerely laughed when I read in previous comments that everything there was done for the Germans, and no one notices the Russians. Give a little tip to the bartenders and everything will be ok. When I ordered a beer, they certainly brought me nuts. When I basked in the sea, there was a bucket of ice and drinks near me.
I did not have time to smoke a cigarette, as they already changed my already clean ashtray. 3. The territory of the hotel. The territory is small, but everything is very well maintained. Every morning, gardeners cut exotic flowers and mow the grass. The hotel has several swimming pools and a small paddling pool for the youngest tourists. All pools are shallow and clean. Didn't find any impurities.
Pluses pluses of course, but not without minuses. So cons: 1 - The main disadvantage for us, in which we ourselves are partly to blame, was the theft of my son's headphones from our room. As soon as we drove in, I told my wife and son that they need to keep an eye on their valuables. There was a large safe in the room, where a laptop, camera, phones, my large wallet and documents fit without any problems. And there was still room. Most likely for my son, headphones, priced at 4.000 rubles. were not a valuable thing and he did not put them in the safe. One day we missed the headphones.
The son was very upset, but for him it was a lesson. I did not take any action, I did not complain anywhere. And let God judge the thief. 2 - Restaurant on the record type A la carte or whatever it is. Well, there is some confusion here. Signed up for a restaurant. It is not particularly different from our canteen, where every day breakfasts, lunches and dinners were held, well, maybe the tablecloths on the table are made of more expensive fabric, or the waiters have a more polished outfit. We sat down at the table and sit cuckoo. After 30 minutes they brought water and poured it into glasses. Somewhere in an hour they brought some dead lasagna. No menu, nothing. And it's not just our Russians. The Germans began to yell, what kind of business. The people from this restic went in batches to a neighboring restaurant (dining room) with more cheerful waiters and a huge assortment of dishes, where this lasagna was also present. I still don't understand what all this is for.
Without touching the imposed lasagna and water, we moved into the neighboring more familiar environment, where each of us chose dishes to our liking and did not sweat. 3 - Sea and beach. Here, as it were, 50 to 50. The sea was violent, but you can frolic. The main disadvantage of the sea is a large number of algae. Some days more, some days less. There are a large number of camel cakes on the beach, so it is advisable to look under your feet. If you do not pay attention to this, then everything is ok. Gentle sand, warm water, and not a very large number of people nearby - what else is needed. By the way, the beach is guarded by vigilant submachine gunners.
I decided to pay special attention for my development, as well as for the development of my wife and son, to excursions and viewing local attractions. Having studied the Internet, I found that it was 5 minutes to the old city. by taxi. On our own, we wandered around the local market, along the embankment of the old city, looked at the fortress and the cemetery. We got to the lighthouse.
Joined so to speak in the atmosphere of Mahdia. I also ordered an excursion to the city of El Jem, where the second largest collise in the world is located. I advise everyone to visit this place. It was also interesting to visit the mosaic museums in El Jem.
What to bring from Tunisia to be satisfied and happy? Again, after reading articles on the Internet, we came to the conclusion that Tunisia has cool spices. Maybe yes. But there are several "buts". Do not take spices packaged in packs. No matter where. Both in the market and in fashion stores, it is a faceless dust and grass that has neither taste nor smell. We bought both in the market in Mahdia and in the store opposite the hotel. It's all just take it to the trash. Buy normal spices by weight. Everything that I bought by weight makes me happy to this day. Excellent olive oil in Tunisia. Aesthetes say that great oil should be bitter. No, I'm soviet union old school. I don't need this bitterness. I took the oil in Tunisia - excellent.
Fragrant salads with him, just delicious. It's a pity I didn't take much. And the clay soap is amazing.
In general - we really liked in Mahdia and in our hotel. Despite the minuses that we tried not to notice, the pluses turned out to be much more. I advise everyone. And don't listen to these morons. Everything is wrong with them, from changing towels to poor food. And more...Six days is very little. Just started to relax, and it's time to leave .. .

Rested from 15 to 25 September 2011. Having visited Mahdia, we realized that there is simply no better place! White sand, very clean sea, wonderful nature around! We were especially struck by the huge variety in the hotel restaurant, so we were not fed anywhere else! Wonderful drinks, freshly squeezed juice, 4 types of ice cream for lunch and dinner, delicious omelettes, shrimp, fish, meat.

Warning to tourists - buy souvenirs and perfumes in stores, be careful at the fair in the city on Friday, they can slip low-quality goods, check the change.
Change currency at the hotel, keep receipts. I wish you a pleasant stay!

We rested with my family (two children 9 and 2) from July 2 to 12.2011. The hotel is not bad, but honestly, I expected more from a recently opened hotel. For a fairly large hotel, the territory is too small, and the beach too. The beach is generally a separate conversation. The hotel's beach is a piece of a public beach, essentially not fenced by anything, that is, both hotel guests and the entire local population of Mahdia can sunbathe there, which actually happens.

I even observed a local fight directly among the sunbeds, it seems like the hotel security reacted quickly, but the sediment remained. Perhaps that is why (or maybe because of the laziness of the staff) the beach is unclean - there are cigarette butts, bags and even glasses (in Egypt, for example, (were in more than one hotel) the beach is constantly cleaned with special rakes, this is not the case here). The sea is also dirty, firstly, at the entrance there is a meter strip of dry algae (which, if the staff or hotel management wants to remove it, is also not a problem), the youngest child was even afraid to enter the sea, and an adult is also not very pleasant. Secondly, packages, some scarves and personal hygiene products are floating, which, you will also agree, does not have a pleasant bathing. By the way, the pools are also not very clean, 2 days before leaving for the pool next to the children's pool, someone knocked over ice cream or something like that, so this slurry was floating there before departure.
At the beginning of our holiday, the hotel was loaded by 50-60 percent, and it was quite comfortable, you can always take the table you want in the restaurant, you don’t have to wait for the waiter in the bars, the sunbeds are always free both by the sea and by the pools. Later, the number of guests increased significantly and, for example, I had an association with the station or McDonald's, that is, a constant movement, moreover, in a confined space and with the same persons. I repeat, the territory is too small, there is no entertainment in the city, so people wander from corner to corner around the perimeter of the hotel.
About food. Everything seems to be nothing. For breakfast, the standard option is scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, pancakes, buns, cheeses (by the way, the cheeses there are wonderful), sausages, cereals, muesli, yogurts. Freshly squeezed orange and carrot juices.
Lunches are not too varied: 2 soup options, stew or chicken, always fish, delicious liver, lots of vegetables, but almost the same every day. Dinners are more interesting, but also quite monotonous. Of the worthy - lamb and mussels. There are always fruits - plums, nectarines, apricots, apples, watermelons and melons. You won't leave hungry. . . but if you don't go to the so-called ala carte restaurant. Here is the "chip". Depending, of course, on how to relate to this, we reacted with humor, and only therefore the evening was not spoiled. Decide for yourself: an appetizer - a turret of cucumbers and tomatoes, a huge layer of raw carrots and 3 (well, honestly THREE) shrimp poured with pesto sauce (to put it mildly, not generously), then the seafood soup is delicious, but the portion slightly covered the bottom of the soup cup (for a child 2 years is normal, but for a man of 33 . . ? ), hot did not lag behind the soup - a piece (exactly a piece) of pink salmon, a piece of sole, a sprig of broccoli and one (ONE) stick of fried potatoes. The apotheosis of this celebration of the stomach was dessert - not even a cake, but a cookie, proudly lying in the center of a large plate !!!
Very nice Tunisian cafe with hookah and delicious Tunisian tea. For lack of special entertainment, having put the children to bed, they went there with their husband. Once we visited a disco - for young people, it’s probably cool, but I got the impression that lonely ladies and loving young people go there with certain goals. Maybe I'm wrong. About entertainment - there is animation. During the day sports programs - gymnastics, water aerobics, volleyball, darts, boccia. In the evening - a children's disco (a standard set of songs and dances, which with the elder 5 years ago in Egypt and Turkey, which is now here) and evening shows of the program at the level of amateur performances, however, also like everywhere else (Egypt, Turkey) - Miss and Mister of the hotel , fakir show, karaoke and cabaret. Since there was nowhere to go, we went there.
Rooms. We had a standard room with a sea view. In principle, we only spent the night in the room (well, the youngest child slept during the day), so it’s normal, two beds pushed together, a folding sofa and we ordered a crib, plasma on the wall, a large closet, a safe (by the way, free of charge), air conditioning, separate bathroom and toilet, balcony . It’s noisy during the day because of the animation in the pool, I was putting the child to bed at that time, but if she wants to sleep, she sleeps in any conditions, so it didn’t bother us, but if someone’s child is used to falling asleep in silence, then I think , will be problematic.
Cleaned to the conscience, and indeed the entire hotel staff is responsive, friendly, smiling and accommodating. Nobody speaks Russian. But if you know English, then it's not a problem, although French is preferable.
It takes about an hour to drive from the hotel to Monastir airport, and about two to Enfidha. For example, we flew to Monastir and flew out of Enfida. I won’t say anything about excursions, as we traveled with a small child. There were only one - El Jem and Kayoran. Just wanted to see their Coliseum. The tour was not impressive, it’s easier to take a taxi and drive to El Jem yourself and see everything, it will be faster (35 minutes drive) and cheaper.
The city of Mahdia itself is very dirty, one evening we walked along the embankment, and just around the city, everywhere there are heaps of garbage, a garbage dump. Were at the bazaar (on Fridays) - our Cherkizon is a glamorous boutique compared to their bazaar. Even from souvenirs there is nothing worthy and interesting. If only olive oil.
But by and large, rested well! After all, rest, as they say, does not work!

We have already been in Tunisia: Hammamet, 2006 (VINCCI LELLA BAYA, for those who are interested). I chose Mahdia for comparison, because everywhere they trumpet that there are the best beaches and the sea in Tunisia. By no means! Didn't notice anything like that. In Hammamet, the sea was cleaner, which was confirmed by the photos viewed after returning (I thought maybe my memory was failing me, but the photo fact is on the face, so to speak).

About IBEROSTAR ROYAL EL MANSOUR.
Meeting, accommodation - 5
All without delay. The room even got a view of the sea (no extra charge), as well as a playground, courts, an amphitheater. By the end of the holiday, evening events began to be held in the amphitheater and, of course, the music interfered, but with the balcony door closed, you can sleep peacefully.
Number 5
The room is comfortable, large, cozy, beautiful, etc. etc.
Room cleaning - 5
I did not notice any frank dirt, dust. But I did not closely follow the change of linen and towels... Let's just say: everything is normal.
Staff, service - 5
The mood was not spoiled, not rude. The request to assemble the sofa back (prepared in advance for the child) was fulfilled with lightning speed. Dirty dishes were removed from the table, the tables were re-served, coffee pots for breakfast were brought quickly by themselves, without asking, i. e. are following this. Once, seeing that it was hard for me to carry two plates (the plates are very heavy in themselves) and watch the child, the waiter snatched them up and carried them to the table with a smile.
Meals - 5+
I think the plus point of this hotel is the food. It's varied and delicious! From pleasant and unusual: grilled shrimp, tuna (very tasty), champignons, bacon (for breakfast; did not try). For breakfast - fresh carrot and orange (after a couple of days of our vacation they began to dilute) - for free. Good pizza for dinner, ice cream. We don't eat meat, so we didn't try it, but I noticed pate for breakfast. Types of ten different salads. There were a lot of stewed vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts, etc. ). Always couscous for dinner. At the dinner of oriental cuisine, various unhealthy, but very tasty type of pies with filling (brick or something) were served.
Territory, infrastructure - 4
There is no territory as such: a swimming pool consisting of 3 sections, a lawn where you can also put a sunbed and sunbathing, and an animation area (a playground, courts, a mini-football field, a dedicated place for archery, etc. . ). Green enough for a new hotel. In general, for my taste this hotel is “flat”, so to speak. I mean, besides the beautiful hall, in terms of design and landscape, absolutely nothing hooked me, did not surprise me. I will say this: I am a photography lover, and here my eye had practically nothing to catch on. But it's a matter of taste. . .
Animation - I think 5
We didn't go to the evening performances. I can not say anything. In the afternoon - a standard set, and, in my opinion, the guys give all the best (active and cheerful).
Children - not rated
We didn't go to the mini club. It works, in my opinion, 2 hours before and after lunch. Animators do not speak Russian. Playground - for 3-year-olds (2 plastic houses and 2 plastic slides - that's it! ). Separately on the lawn - a swing. There is a children's pool. In terms of nutrition, it is individual and depends on age, but there has always been something dietary.
Sea, beach - 2
And this is a different story. We arrived after a storm, and algae washed up on the shore, and the sea near the coast was black from them. It was the same in Hammamet, only there were much more algae on the shore. But! In Hammamet, they were collected by a mini-excavator, and in IBEROSTAR ROYAL EL MANSOUR this small amount was not removed with a rake. OK! A trifle. But the view is not the same... In Hammamet, the sea naturally cleared up and turned into soft blue with a beautiful wave and white foam, but here we were not lucky to see this in a week. Yes, in Mahdia the sea is bright turquoise, but there, behind a strip of algae. Maybe we were unlucky with the season. Do not know. And by the way! Lovers of jumping on the waves! There are practically none on the IBEROSTAR ROYAL EL MANSOUR beach. And some rags floated in the sea, in short, garbage. We walked along the embankment to the Medina (half an hour approximately). So on the way we saw heaps of garbage on the very shore of the sea. Probably, the storm then picks up this garbage, and over time we observe it on the beach of the hotel. Well, this is my version. Also, often while walking along the embankment, the smell of sewerage was heard, which leads to thoughts... Who has any thoughts?
And now the claim specifically to the hotel: the sand on the beach is dirty, with cigarette butts, candy wrappers, etc. !! ! The beach will not be cleaned!
All this undermined my confidence in a beach holiday in Tunisia. In Hammamet, we rested in the new TOURIST area of Yasmine, maybe that's why it was cleaner there.
We flew on a last minute package and the price was very reasonable. Therefore, Tunisia, IBEROSTAR ROYAL EL MANSOUR, turned out. Judging by previous reviews, only I found flaws in this hotel. I wanted it to be short, but it turned out as always. I hope I didn't bore you and helped someone. In general, the hotel is good, but I did not have enough zest. Well, the sea... They say that in July-August there are no algae. It is worth going to Tunisia for a change, at least for the sake of an excursion to the Sahara. Have a nice holiday everyone!

Impeccably pleasant hotel, everything is as it should be, on the level. Neither subtract nor add. The room is small, but did not disappoint, everything worked, no complaints about cleaning, all the maids are prompt, it is worth leaving for 15 minutes and returning - the room is already with flowers and shines.
The room overlooking the sea was especially pleased not only with relaxing noise and sea views, but also wi-fi, which is convenient; this is info for those who have read the complaints about the lack of it in the room (yes, it is only in the lobby, by the pool and on the balconies overlooking the sea, respectively).
The staff speaks English, French, German. I don’t know about Russian, but the guide Hassan from the Biblio-Globus will help, if there is no knowledge of the language, he is a world dude. The hotel has a lot of Germans and few Russians, which is also useful to someone)
At the L'olymp thalasso hotel, but I went to another with the same name, while there are shortcomings, I think, temporary. In terms of quality, I think there are no differences (for prices, for sure), they were pleasantly surprised. For the sake of thalasso, it is worth visiting Tunisia at least once a year.
The location of the hotel is wonderful. Near the landmark is a statue of a swordfish. To the left is a walking street, you go straight and find everything you need, you won’t get lost and you won’t miss the main mini-sights of this cute quiet town. Lighthouse, fortress, bazaar, square, medina.
In general, a calm, quiet and healthy vacation is guaranteed. Tunisians are friendly and nice, but maybe I was lucky with the hotel and others)

We were in this hotel at the beginning of October 2010. The hotel then worked for only six months. Heaps of garbage on the sides of the beach, imperfections from the facade and in the hotel itself were present, but everything else was at a decent level, I will not repeat. We took half board, but two meals a day was enough: we went to the end of breakfast and the beginning of dinner (the pancreas was grateful), during the break - fruits taken from breakfast, which were quite varied - they even gave fried bacon, which made my wife very happy, a great lover "harmful" food.

The weather at this time is normal - the sea is warm, not hot, it rained a couple of times, but after an hour or two the sun was already shining. For those who go on half board, I will inform you that water can be bought in small shops opposite the hotel. All drinks in the hotel are very expensive, however, served from bottles. For dinner, they generally give a whole bottle of wine. The General store is a couple of kilometers to the left of the hotel towards the medina: if you follow the road along the sea without turning anywhere, you can get there in 20-30 minutes. Landmark - school, fenced with a high fence. I am writing in such detail because we did not find the store on the first try, even after asking the locals. The first time is really better to go by taxi. In this store you can buy some goods that are not available in Ukraine: couscous, soap and shampoo with tfale, very appetizing-looking olives by weight, etc.
A separate conversation about the purchase of alcoholic beverages. The department itself is located from another entrance. It has no identifying marks. You can understand that they sell alcohol there only by the crumpled faces of the regulars rubbing near it and the crap approaches. Anyone who remembers the liquor departments of Gorbachev's perestroika times will understand what I'm talking about, and the situation there is the same. Arabs in general have a far from heroic appearance, and those who regularly consume alcoholic beverages - this must be seen! But at the same time, the whole queue stood sedately and waited while I chose drinks (for such a pause in Gorbachev's times, we could run into trouble)! I must say that Tunisia has a very decent wine. On a tour of the Sahara, our guide told us that 70-80% of French wines are made from Tunisian wine materials. Strong drinks - try once, beer - ordinary light.
If you buy argan oil, then the lowest price is in the pharmacy.
I hope that my information is useful to someone.
