Cons: rooms are not cleaned every day; in some rooms there may be no hair dryer, or there may be something wrong (which is being solved, as I wrote above); in the dining room, after the first influx of tourists for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the tables remain uncleaned for some time, and if you come later, it is quite difficult to find a clean table; insufficient number of sunbeds on the beach (in order to relax comfortably, you need to come to the beach before breakfast and take a sunbed and only then go to breakfast); Wi-Fi only in the lobby and near the bar (when there are a lot of people, the distribution is very weak, so you can normally use the Internet either in the morning or late in the evening); use the safe! because a banknote of 100 dollars disappeared from our room, local alcoholic drinks are not for everyone.
Pros: the area is large and green; the sea is very close (a minute or two on foot); the food is good (meat, fish, salads, fruits, delicious desserts, you won’t be hungry in a word), the rooms are pleasantly cool, friendly staff, animation, clean and large enough pool.
Therefore, if you are going on vacation, and you prioritize hotel service, its aesthetics, go to Turkey for the same money or choose a luxurious hotel, you yourself understand in a different price category). But if you are going overseas, adventures, new emotions, interesting excursions, and you need a hotel to take a breath, take a shower, cool down, and just relax before the next "adventure" - it will be quite enough!
P. S. Special thanks to the super-guide Sabri for a fascinating, interesting excursion to the Sahara, as well as the good mood that he gave us!! ! Thanks)
The hotel itself is not bad, cozy. Not large, but very green territory (if it was still looked after....), we got a very good room (apparently lucky). A huge room in which: a 2-bed, two 1.5-beds, a baby bed for babies, a chest of drawers, a refrigerator, a wardrobe and a coffee table with chairs. There are a lot of free places. The bathroom is separate (everything you need is in it). Cleaned every day at 17.00 approximately. I didn’t understand how the towel was changed, but we didn’t have any dirty ones, apparently every day a little bit. Bed linen is not new but clean. WiFi only works at the reception and that is sooooo bad.
The sea is beautiful, beyond competition!! ! The beach is nice but dirty. Every day after dinner, local Arabs with their families go, and they are not very tidy, they leave everything and everywhere. On the beach there are not only sun loungers, but also tents. We occupied it in the morning, but employees came to dinner and said that from 12.00 the tent was reserved. This means that the locals will come. Of course, no one kicked us out, everything is very polite but not pleasant. We bring them a lot of money... The water is hot in the sea in the afternoon. Swimming with kids is great.
That's all about food - THIS IS A HUGE MINUS hotel. Completely unsanitary!! ! Of course, this institution cannot be called a restaurant, I would say, a dirty dining room. Completely absent kondeya. The room is unbearably hot, and on the street, flies and cats climb into the eyes and nose and into the plate. Tables are never wiped down. It looks like they don't know about it at all. Every morning during breakfast, employees begin to clean up the mess that was left from the evening. The floors are never washed! The poor cook fries pancakes or fish, and sweat flows from his nose and forehead right onto these very pancakes. HORROR!! ! Children are not allowed!! ! The food is monotonous from day to day, there is no children's table, and I would not advise feeding the child from the general. We took excursions to leave and not eat at this hotel. In general, everything would be fine if the hotel had a good owner. Apparently they are squeezing everything that is possible from the hotel without wanting to invest.
I didn’t notice that they smoke everywhere and it’s unbearable to be (I read in previous reviews). Our family is NOT a smoker and nicotine did not bother us. We didn't pay attention to it. It was the first time in Tunisia, I think it will be the last. This is not a country to which I would like to return. Were in the Sahara - this is just what you can come here for. Sahara is AMAZING!! ! From her we received a bunch of positive, unforgettable emotions.
As for food, it's not for everyone. The food is quite spicy. There is a choice, but by the end of the holiday I really wanted normal, familiar food. Of the fruits were only watermelons. Once they gave a melon (not very tasty). In other hotels, the fruits were more varied. Large selection of pastries (biscuits, cakes, mousses, whipped cream, croissants) Drinks in any quantity. During breakfast, lunch and dinner, the boys walk around and fill the glasses at your request, clean up the dirty dishes. Tables are not wiped. I just shake and turn the napkins over.
The pool is small. And swim there mostly local (Arabs). I see no reason to go to distant lands and sit by the pool. Moreover, to the sea to go 3 minutes. They came to the beach before breakfast at 6.30, occupied sun loungers and used them all day. Leave a towel and go for breakfast and lunch. Everything was in place. Bar on the beach. Works from 10.00. You can always come and take drinks (in any quantity).
The hotel has good spa treatments. Hamam, massage, sauna, jacuzzi.
There was practically no animation.
I think that the Regency is quite an acceptable hotel. Rest satisfied.
I decided to write a short review to refute the previous negative in the direction of the hotel.
We visited different countries - Bulgaria, Egypt, Cyprus, several times in Turkey and in Tunisia we rested for the 4th time. Therefore, there is something to compare.
After reading a lot of negative reviews, we prepared for the worst. But what could we expect from a hotel in Tunisia at this price? But this hotel surprised us.
We arrived late in the evening, we were taken to a restaurant and fed dinner, heated in the microwave. Check in was quick and we were given a room overlooking the hotel courtyard. The room has soap, shampoo, towels, refrigerator, balcony, some rooms have a safe. Everything is clean and tidy. Towels were changed every day, cleaned and bed made every day.
As for the food, there was enough to eat. We weren't hungry. For breakfast there were hot pancakes, except for cheese, sausage and buns. For lunch and dinner - several types of meat, fish, pasta, rice, potatoes, hot pizza, a lot of vegetables, salads. Sometimes they gave french fries, couscous, ice cream. A lot of different delicious cakes and fruits - watermelon, sweet melon, strawberries, grapes. From drinks - wine (red, white, pink), beer, whiskey, sprite, fanta, coca-cola, various cocktails - we didn’t try everything, unlimited bottled water, including drinks were given free of charge at the beach bar.
A huge plus of the hotel is its proximity to the sea - 1st line, less than 50 m, a large beach with free sun loungers, umbrellas and mattresses.
A beautiful palm alley leads to the beach along the territory of the hotel. There is a beautiful restaurant on the beach right next to the sea. You can sit at a snow-white table and look at the sea. Therefore, I recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway for young couples.
The only downside of the hotel is the lack of cleanliness. The tables in the restaurant, in the bar and on the tables in the hall near the reception are dirty, dirty dishes are removed late. But in Tunisia, only a few hotels can boast of excellent service. And tourists need to understand what country they are going to. You cannot expect impeccable cleanliness and service there, at least in Turkey. This is no longer a problem of a particular hotel, but of the nation as a whole and the mentality of the entire country of Tunisia.
In general, we are satisfied with our stay at this hotel. He fully justified the money laid out for him. And we are glad that we "were not seduced" by the negative reviews about this hotel and came here.
And who wants the best service and cleanliness, then you need to lay out other money and go to another country!
Breakfast: boiled eggs, pastries, by the way, they don’t bake themselves, cereals, rice porridge, cheese, sausage, wonderful coffee, and jams are very tasty. They fried pancakes, but we came early, and their staff loves to sleep very much, once at all by seven in the morning there were two plates of sausage with cheese, and that's when I tore. The staff woke up at 7.30, yes, they combine the cleaning of the territory with breakfast! Everyone is like sleepy flies, there is a European waiter, wearing glasses, serving tables on the street - just a smart girl! The big problem is salt, but solvable. Vacationers themselves often behave disgustingly, and not only in the dining room! There are few staff, the owner is a goon! The bar on the beach is something, it's a restaurant for the locals, for us only water, fanta, soft drinks and, beer, I, a person who is not a deep drinker, wanted to try beer, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, this is not beer, but I'm not a big expert in this, folks drank, they say nothing, for me, it's urine. Wine, also an incomprehensible smell and taste, the daughter says it smells like a camel. Fruits: watermelon, melon, strawberries, not sugar, I say right away, but you can eat. Animation: guys Toto and Momo are great fellows, they are probably the only ones trying there, thanks to them, but I almost cried after the fire show, when they themselves began to clean up! You can write a lot more, I will say in my opinion: not a triple, but not a four, somewhere in between. I traveled a lot, if I was in Turkey, then this is not Turkey, yes, I was at the zoo - delight, wandered for three and a half hours, took a taxi, you need to go in the morning, by 9.9. 30. People went on a tour, but only 1.5 hours on the run, after dinner and much more expensive, we didn’t deny ourselves anything and invested 180 dinars for three. In general, thanks to everyone who tried, I still had a rest, it all depends on my mood, I was so tired in a year that no one and nothing could stop me from resting. I didn’t like the country itself, the number of Algerians and Lebanese on the weekend is just . . oops, in general the sun is very aggressive, it’s easy to burn out from 10.30, even creams don’t help. Have a nice holiday.
after a "delicious lunch" we went to get rooms. . . and this is just the beginning of our adventures. since there were 5 of us, and they don't have large family rooms, we were told that they would give 2 rooms. after dinner, only one number was ready. We got the keys and went to check in. the first room was in the wing, which looked like a hostel that had seen better days. The room greeted us with a disgusting smell and to get rid of it we opened the windows. but the smell was even worse outside. then we went to get the second number, in the hope that it would be better than the first and we would have somewhere to put the baby to sleep. The number was better than the previous one. and then the first number was changed to us. but the rooms were still dirty (we walked right in our shoes), the plumbing was not working, the water in the bathroom and the sink did not go away....in short, you can write a lot and for a long time.
dinner came and we went....but you can’t imagine our surprise when we saw the same thing for dinner as for lunch, only fish and some sausages were added. and you have no idea how happy we were with delicious bread and water.
In short, this is not a 4 star hotel. maximum 2.
