We contacted the travel agency a month before the vacation. They wanted without a visa, so Turkey, Cyprus and Tunisia were offered. At home, we reviewed all descriptions and reviews of hotels. The choice fell on Tunisia, and the price turned out cheaper. For three of us it cost 135.000 for 12 nights (August 5-17.2019). They flew 4 and a half hours from Moscow on a Boeing 777-200, without food, 2 times they were offered simple water... And that's it. Landed at Zarzis airport. The hotel was reached by a comfortable bus in 45 minutes. We settled in and went for dinner.
The abundance of food for a three-star hotel was amazing. From the first every day a new soup, something similar to puree soup. For the second set of side dishes, and even more meat dishes! Tunisian national dishes were every day. A couple of times they arranged a feast with large boilers with national cuisine. From seafood, tuna was fried right on the street the size of a palm, very tasty, but there are too many bones in it, so few people took it. There was nothing else from seafood. Salads are a very large selection. In the restaurant, alcohol is made from wine (white, red, pink), a cooler, a machine with juices and cola, a coffee machine and a samovar for tea. Fruits for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 2 types. There are a lot of sweets and every time everything is always different. Ice cream was served twice. Service fast. .
The room was overlooking the garden and the pool. Mohr white towels changed every day, there was no shampoo and shower gel, there were 2 bars of soap and soft toilet paper, TV and air conditioning. Cleaning is daily in 2 stages: the first time comes picks up towels and cleans up, and the second time brings fresh towels. Once there was an unpleasant story with the maid: we returned early from the sea to get a henna tattoo, and she apparently did not expect that she would find us in the room, broke in, removed her phone from our charger and quickly ran away, did not even apologize... We were in shocked!
Animators work all day: aqua aerobics, darts, water polo, etc. In the evening, animation with children, then for adults, then dancing.
On the territory of 3 swimming pools, a shop, a spa, a beauty salon, a pizzeria, 2 bars. In the lobby bar, alcohol and WiFi intermittently. You can buy paid drinks, smoke a hookah for only 8 dinars (1 dinar ~ 24 rubles).
Walk to the sea for 7 minutes across the road, the beach for 2 hotels. You can swim from 8 am to 6 pm, as in the pool. On the beach 2 showers, a bar with soft drinks! drinks and no toilet! White fine sand, a smooth entrance to the sea, the color of the sea is straight green-turquoise, the water is hot. Merchants walk along the beach, show their goods and entertainment and go on, they don’t bother anyone, if you want to buy something, then you need to come up yourself. Horses and camels walk in the same way... And they do their business right on the beach... Well, nothing, they are used to it, and stepped into the sea. Periodically cleaned with a tractor. There was some seaweed in the sea. In the last 3 days it was stormy and there were a lot of algae, well, just like a spa procedure)), we jumped on the waves in plenty. Umbrellas, sunbeds for free, mattresses less than sunbeds.
Of the free tours, there were trips to a gift shop, a spa cosmetics and leather goods store. You write to the guide on WhatsApp and she orders a car. We went to the gift shop. At the chosen time, the car did not arrive, for the second time they only got there. We came back to the hotel only for the third time! The driver brought to the wrong hotel.
Of the paid ones, they chose a crocodile farm and a sugar desert.
Crocodile farm:
The cost is 60 dinars. Departure at 15:15, arrived at 18:30. The guide gave everyone a ticket. The tour included: inspection of the rooms as they used to live in these parts, the crocodile farm itself and the museum. We came to feed. Crocodiles there are more than 400 individuals, huge, originally from Madagascar. For dinner they had plucked and heavily spiced birds. On the territory there were pens with turtles and monitor lizards. There was an incubator with crocodile eggs and very small crocodiles. When they boarded the bus, they realized with horror that they had passed the museum, they were upset, of course, but they did not return.
Sahara Desert:
The cost is 245 dinars. Departure at 5:15, arrived at 14:30 the next day. The guide said that on this day it will be warm in the desert, only +40°, although it is usually +50° at this time. Well, I think we won’t feel all the desert color. I was wrong, sunstroke caught at the first stop, many complained of a headache. On the first day there was a salt lake, a local zoo (10 dinars), poor thing, but with a performance, jeep riding on the dunes, we drove into an oasis, swam in a waterfall. On the second day, we got up at 4 am, went to watch the sunrise on a salt lake, stopped by to drink Tunisian tea with nuts and Tunisian snickers, then camel riding for 1 hour (30 dinars) or quad biking for 40 minutes (50 for 1 person or 70 dinars together). Then we went to the troglodyte caves. We dined there local cuisine and went to the hotel. We had lunch and dinner on the first day in a hotel in the desert, on the second day we had breakfast there.
The hotel itself looks like its * 4. But in the room there is a broken, rusty, smelly refrigerator, and the toilet is washed off in portions, with a volume of one glass. The food is terrible, the choice is very small, instead of meat there are only veins, the potatoes are half-baked, a beetle crawled in the lentils, they leaned mainly on watermelons, because it was very tight with water. Water can be drunk only bottled. They took 4 liters with them, it was not enough, they bought 2 more bottles. Well, at least freshen up in the pool.
Before the flight, we decided to exchange the remaining dinars for dollars at the reception, an unpleasant surprise awaited - a commission of 30%!
Airport workers are very slow. The flight to Moscow also took 4 hours and 20 minutes.
In general about the country:
The roads are paved, but the roadsides are full of rubbish! It looks like no one is going to remove it. For them, the main thing is that the house is clean, and let the state clean the streets. They pay a pension only if you contributed to the pension capital while you were working. Education is completely free on a 20-point scale.
The national language is Arabic, and French is widely spoken.
Have a good rest!! ! We will definitely come back to this country!
