Holiday in Thailand
A full moon in Thailand is really unusual. The moon here is somewhat closer to the Earth than in Europe. Anyway, that's what it looks like. Now in Thailand on the island of Koh Phangan, the world-famous Moon Party takes place every month on the full moon. This party is known for its grandiose size.
Our journey began in a pickup truck, loaded with booze and off to the Full Moon Party. Through thick bushes, meandering at full speed between palm trees, then up a steep slope. Where we were driving is by no means a road. The driver had to show not just any skill and an exceptionally sober head, so as not to knock out all his teeth (and us) in the potholes. And yet this journey, despite all the bumps and shaking, is a stunning adventure: the jungle and palm trees in the moonlight look like they have been dipped in silver. This is truly a fabulous picture!
Soon we were on the main road along the coast. The beach is terribly littered with tourists. Crowds of crazy dancing people, fire everywhere. Each bar along the beach plays its own music: drums, goa, house, techno, trance, electro, R&B, reggae. . . It's a big party. Youth from different areas of Thailand and Laos, tourists and travelers of all nationalities.
Everywhere they offer colored tattoos (washable) with a neon glow under ultraviolet light.
Bucket ladles filled with drinks, mostly Sang Catfish, cola and Red Bull laced with amphetamines and alcohol. Even drugs are distributed everywhere. It was an evening full of impressions.
The outskirts of the dance floors are filled with the bodies of tourists resting on the sand in a variety of poses. The more sophisticated ones occupied the bars. There are so few toilets that alternative methods have to be invented.
A grandiose fireworks display in the morning completes the picture. However, Full Moon Party does not end with the dawn. For the most persistent, the afterparty begins, which continues until lunch.
