A ski resort through the eyes of a non-skier. Part 4. On a visit to forest animals.
Day Six. On a visit to the forest animals.
There is never too much vacation, and so it was this time. But the rhythm set from the very first day (early rise, breakfast and a quick exit from the hotel - so as not to be late for the next train, bus) began to strain not like a child. And so we decided to arrange a “unloading” day for ourselves, that is, to take a walk around Lomnica, look around the area.
Initially, our plans were to visit the Polish Zakopane, but it turned out that in winter the connection of transport is not very convenient: 1.5 hours on a regular bus (there) + 1.5 hours back and directly in Zakopane - 1.5 hours. Then it was decided to cancel Zakopane. Because they thought it was irrational. Yes, and we arrived in Slovakia! So, let there be clean Slovakia!
So, the morning of the sixth day is a bright sunny morning! promised us a wonderful warm day.
And the first object for our today's visit to Lomnicki "sights" was the hotel "Hutnik". As I wrote earlier, when choosing a tour to Slovakia, we virtually reviewed more than a dozen different Slovak hotels, Hutnik was one of them. So we went to look at it, to have an idea for the future.
The guidebook said that "The hotel is located in a quiet beautiful place at the foot of the Lomnicky Shtit mountain, a 15-minute walk from the cable car station on Skalnato Pleso", and this was true. In addition, the online map on my iPad showed that there was a hiking trail from the Hutnik Hotel through the forest to the Grand Hotel Praha.
With all sorts of photo stops and rest (taking into account my heart problems), we crawled to Hutnik in about an hour. Recovered their breath, clarified at the hotel reception - is the hiking trail functioning? Having received a positive answer and direction, we set off in search of that very path.
And then something unexpected happened.
Going around the hotel building, we saw a fairly wide road into the forest with traces of a tractor. On it, we walked towards adventure. We walked for quite a long time: all the same, we took pictures from different angles - standing, sitting, lying on the snow, in a down jacket and without it, against the backdrop of mountains and against the backdrop of fir trees. But the Praha hotel was not even on the horizon yet. At the next smoke break, I opened a “magic book” called iPad and realized that our geolocation is located much north of the hiking trail indicated on the map. But the road did not end and led further into the forest, and we walked along it. Since, logically, we had to get out even closer to the ski lifts than the Praha hotel is. We were about half way.
Yes, that's just around the next turn, we saw in the distance the outlines of some wooden structure. Probably the hut of a local forester, we decided.
Coming closer, we clearly saw that this was not a hut at all, but a real feeder for the forest inhabitants, to whom we came to visit.
To be honest, I am a city lady, and what I saw did not stop me. And who knows what would happen next. But the friend resolutely resisted, and after several minutes of bickering, we nevertheless turned back. I still held the mark (yes, I'm not afraid of anyone! ), but the proverb "God protects the safe" here was most welcome.
The way back to the hotel turned out to be much shorter, that is, in time we got back faster. And when the building of the hotel appeared, we both breathed a sigh of relief.
The footpath was about fifty meters away from us, but it was as deserted as the road with tractor tracks.
We crossed it in about half an hour, passing along a couple of bridges over mountain streams and passing many huge rhizomes of trees that remained unharvested after the terrible hurricane that brought the Slovak forests into such a deplorable state. Repeatedly, the footpath along which we walked was crossed by footprints that obviously did not belong to a person. Maybe a wild boar ran through or a local roe deer ....But today we did not meet them: all is well that ends well.
A day later, we asked the guests of Hutnik if any animals live in the nearby forest and what kind of road is this that goes into the forest with traces of a tractor? In response, they heard the quite expected: “They say that there are animals. People don't walk that road. " But you went. Too bad they forgot to take a picture of the feeder.
Having safely reached the Grand Hotel Prague, we traditionally drank a cup of cappuccino and continued our walk up the Skalnate Pleso.
All the same, there is something in this place that attracts a magnet.
The wonderful weather opened up new views of Lomnica and its surroundings, as well as the Tatras and the Lonitsky Peak. The sun was setting behind the mountains, but I didn’t want to go down. Moreover, we understood that we were already saying goodbye to Skalnate Pleso.
Once again waving goodbye to Lomnicky peak, we took another lift cabin, which again rushed us to Tatranska Lomnica.
To be continued. Again Strbske Pleso, Solisko and others.
