To Ahus for Absolute Quality
Akhus - a familiar town appeared today under a hat of snow. And, as you know, Swedish policies, densely planted with forests, look very appetizing in the winter.
Ahus successfully combines the forest and the city. Such a summer residence. It is good to go boating, play golf or play tennis with a business partner in the bosom of nature, and not in a closed sports club. There is also a coastline with sand and shallow sea approaches. The sea is open, therefore, being clean, it continues to be quite cold. Although the Swedes are probably fine.
Walking the cobbled streets of the old city, you can very easily turn into the forest, where the buildings continue, but more modern and mostly made of wood. For the most part, they are bored in anticipation of the summer influx of owners. The streets are trodden right in the forest zone, and the house numbers are often small signs nailed right to the trees.
The snow cover accompanied me to the very edge of the sea, where the green color of the sea wave became the predominant background, set off by the blue sky. Sitting down here and enjoying a frozen section of time seems like the best idea.
On the way back, I was frightened off by a heavy tractor, which, from its bright yellow bucket, showered the forest paths with small gravel. And even here, in the forest thicket, the Swedish love of order extends.
Ahus is all pedestrian and cyclist, like a good half of the whole of Sweden. Route signs and bike lane signs are everywhere. I am glad that the forest part of the city was built in the forest, and not instead of it. No one even thinks about expanding and allocating new areas for development. It seems that such a population density suits everyone.
Ahus is considered the main resort on the east coast of the Swedish Skane region, which also includes my beloved Landskrona, and the larger cities of Malmo and Helsingborg. More than 3.000 houses find their owners in the summer. For less demanding travelers, there are tent and trailer campsites.
Having begun its existence in the 12th century as a Danish town, Ahus has been a hotbed of conflict between two irreconcilable powers for many years. A convenient geographical position at the mouth of the Helga River forced the Danish king to build a castle-fortress here. The city, together with the fortress, burned several times, but was able to quickly restore its former power. In the 16th century, during the seven-year Northern War, the castle was completely destroyed, and with the construction in 1614 in the neighborhood of Kristianstad, Ahus lost its former role.
Nowadays, this city is notable for the fact that it is here that one of the most popular vodkas in the world, Absolut vodka, is produced. During the summer, tours are held at the plant.
