As we drove to the village ... Vladimir
About the Vorobeychikov family on the road: peepers, photos for Instagram, whims and unfulfilled dreams. And in the end, they didn’t even let me get drunk : ))
Every summer vacation (both winter and May weekends) we go to our historical homeland — to Saransk - to visit their parents, well, to attach their offspring to them : )). As a rule, these trips are made by car, which the children are terribly indignant at. But they have grown up (daughter is 9 years old, son is 7.5), and now we are trying to arrange small trips from the usual transfer from point A to point B.
In winter, the way to the parent land was diversified by acquaintance with the Mur city. How it was, you can read here — “Murom. Winter look. . . ». Both the adult and child half of humanity liked it! Therefore, our proposal to repeat such a voyage was accepted by the children with enthusiasm. I confess, it was nice to eavesdrop on their discussions and talks between themselves before going to bed about how we will go, and where we will stay for the night, and what kind of cities they are, what is so interesting there... Of course, already in childhood, their priorities are lined up, daughters - so that it is prettier, son - so that it is not hungry : )). But in one thing their interests coincide - how great it is to spend the night not at home! Not visiting, not at my grandmother's, but in ANOTHER city, in ANOTHER world, in a HOTEL.
Since the trip is summer, we decided to expand our horizons, and the plans outlined Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod with overnight stays at each point, just on the way from Moscow to Saransk.
And then one July morning, having loaded the car with junk for all occasions (weather forecasts were very unhappy) and the contents of the refrigerator, so as not to be wasted, we went to the first destination - the city of Vladimir. Theoretically, it was possible not to stay in Vladimir: we drove on a weekday, the roads are free, the quality of the roads is wonderful (I was especially pleased with the section Vladimir - Nizhny Novgorod), to get acquainted with the main beauties Vladimir, in general, one day is enough. But I didn’t want to turn a JOURNEY for children into a RACE through places of interest. Yes, and we are on vacation, we must already switch to the mode of calm and unhurried pastime : )). All! We are not in a hurry, we are driving, staring, trying to convey something new to the minds of our offspring, along the way we are educating ourselves, patiently trying to answer tricky children's questions (the adult brain is not capable of such questions), well, and do not forget to dilute the whole thing with simple children's questions. entertainment.
Introduction to the sights of Vladimir that are part of Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, Internet tips recommend starting with Golden Gate. But since we are located on the opposite side of them, in a rather convenient and not expensive hostel "White Poplar", then our path ran in the reverse order from the recommended one.
Bolshaya Nizhegorodskaya street

I'll tell you a little about the place of our lodging for the night. It’s just that it’s not in the site’s catalog, it’s lazy to wait for it to be added. And so, suddenly someone will follow in our footsteps, it will suddenly come in handy : )). If you're not interested, feel free to scroll down.
This was our first experience of "communication" with hostels and it turned out to be very successful. When choosing a place to live in the city, I had to strain a little, somehow everything was a little expensive for our team (2 adults + 2 children). And if it’s acceptable for the price, then it’s completely unsightly in content. It seemed to me that I had already learned the prices and descriptions of all hotels in Vladimir, and in different variations: two-room suites, two standards, a suite and a standard, etc. , etc. : )). And then “hostel” is displayed on the computer screen - no, not our format, but “family number”. I became curious. . . I read the description: a separate room, a private bathroom, soap-and-soap toiletries available. . . , according to the photos, it’s quite decent, and the reviews are good, well, and most importantly, the price is pleasant.
So, hostel&hotel rooms, and separate rooms with private facilities) White Poplar occupies a separate mansion a kilometer from the main attractions < strong>Vladimir. And walking is not stressful, or a couple of stops on public transport.
Photos of the halls and public areas of the hotel in the album.
There is a small private parking lot, which is a definite plus for car travelers. Whether it is overcrowded is hard to say, we arrived at 10 am and were the only guests, the rest of the cars were seen only in the morning of the next day, in the evening they were not there yet. The entrance to the building is both from the street and from the yard (parking).
As I already said, we arrived at 10 am, previously written off about the possibility of attaching a car to the hotel parking lot until the check-in time (13.00). They gave us a number right away.
Light, spacious. They asked if there was a similar one, but with one large bed. There is. We looked, but it is smaller in size, the ceilings are lower, it seemed gloomy to us. The room has everything you need in stock and in working condition. Pleased with the presence of a kettle and cups with tea bags and sugar. There is no refrigerator, but there is one in the shared kitchen. There you can also get hold of extra sugar and tea. The presence of a kitchen makes it possible to cook breakfast (or not only breakfast) on your own, but this is not about us : ). You can order breakfast at a certain hour from the three proposed variations for 150 rubles, something like "egg, sausage, tea. "
There is no air conditioning, but there is a fan. The TV works (the children watched cartoons), judging by how my daughter actively instagrammed, Wi-Fi also works : )).
The bathroom is clean, plumbing is in excellent condition, without lime deposits.
A complete set of toiletries: shampoo, shower gel, soap, dental kit. Fan works great.
The first question of the children: "Why two shells? " - "Children, this is especially for you, so that they don’t divide who is first and who is first" : )).
There is a terrace between the room and the bathroom, sort of like a seating area. It is quite possible to sit in the evening without disturbing the peace of those already sleeping.
By the way, in the photo of the mansion, this room is just above the entrance, that is, the wooden walls are a terrace and a bathroom. But the fact that the windows overlook the street can be a minus - a very busy car traffic. And one more nuance should be taken into account when booking this personalized room: the door to the door is a toilet for guests from the "hostel" rooms, I suppose that when the hostel is very busy, you may get the feeling that someone is regularly trying to enter your room : )).
Of course, if you look closely, then something is already battered, filthy, slightly shabby... But this should be purposefully considered. And with such a pleasant cost of the provided comfort, you simply do not pay attention to all these roughnesses. In general, in our opinion, meal of economical tourists, it combines all the advantages: good price, comfortable stay, walking and transport accessibility to / from sights, to / from the railway station, the presence of its own parking. In general, "cheap and cheerful" : )).
Washed up, refueled with homemade preparations and go ahead - punish Vladimir! To begin with, we walked along the walls Nativity Monastery.
The place is quiet and picturesque, unfortunately chosen by marginalized people. Or maybe we just got lucky.
Views of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Vladimir p>
Inside everything turned out to be somehow not very picturesque, unkempt appearance. At first it was thought that the temples were old, but no, they were built and illuminated in the first decade of this century.
Then past the Historical Museum,
the building of which was built in 1903 specifically for the museum, we went to admire Dmitrievsky Cathedral .
He is, of course, handsome, good from all sides! They did not go inside, they did not want to. Yes, and the entrance is paid (150 r), somehow it didn’t fit... Although, this is more a museum than a cathedral.
The observation deck offers charming views of the right low bank of the Klyazma River and, probably, the main attraction, the center of attraction for city guests — Holy Dormition Cathedral Vladimir.

Unfortunately, on Mondays (and we were on Monday) the cathedral is closed, only morning services are held. By the way, there are guided tours inside the cathedral, I didn’t know this, I am sharing information with you.
There are very pleasant, well-groomed places around with regular charming views of the Vladimir lands.
Views of Spassky Hill, where you can see (from left to right) Patriarch's Gardens, Water Tower, Savior Church, George's Church.
Sobornaya Square and monument dedicated to the 850th anniversary of Vladimir. The monument was founded in 1958, opened in 1960. But now there is some confusion with the date of the foundation of the city, either 1158, or 990... But what difference does it make to mere mortals, 850 has already hit in any case : )).
Park im. A. S. Pushkin with the monument to Prince Vladimir and St. Theodore, opened in 2007 in honor of another 850th anniversary, but already of the formation (proclamation) of Vladimir the capital of the Vladimir-Suzdal Principality.
Monuments and cathedrals are all good, but children are with us, and children's joys are required. Initially, she planned a trip to the Da Vinci Museum of Optical Illusions and Entertaining Sciences. But somehow inattentively I reacted to this issue, the museum, as it turned out, is no longer working! Everything, a tragedy of universal scale! Ice cream and cake somewhat smoothed out the storm of indignation, but, all the same, it was necessary to urgently find something "children's, not adult monuments. "
This is what all these compact historical centers are good for, everything is nearby. And right away I turned up Museum of gingerbread, there is also a chocolate workshop and a nice gift shop. We successfully joined the children to an existing group, an excursion, a master class on painting gingerbread and tea drinking - 380 rubles. for the face. We had an hour of time, and we went further along the "adult monuments", instructing the children to call after the end of the event.
Golden Gate — visiting card of Vladimir
A little later, when we saw the Golden Gate, our brain-bearing reasonable son asked: "Why are they golden, if they are not golden at all. . . And who he stole the gold and why hasn’t he been caught yet... And why don’t cars go through these Gates, why go around them. And in general, they are somehow small, not for kings... ". And he, after all, will not lag behind until he receives answers that satisfy him, and more often than not, he does not like the answers, and he comes up with his own versions. And then he starts to prove his case. . . Well, that's it, for a general idea, how we get acquainted with something new and unfamiliar : ))
Let's go along Nikitskaya street
And we saw a pretty church - Nikitskaya. Judging by the sign, there is an observation deck. But for some reason the church was closed, otherwise they would have risen.
Near the Nikitskaya Church there is an ancient monastery - Assumption Monastery. Your photos are absolutely ugly, photos from the Internet
We took the children happy and satisfied, and even with hand-painted gingerbread. Big ones, enough for a whole breakfast the next morning : ). Good!
The history of gingerbread in Russia is long. To date, perhaps the most popular is the Tula gingerbread. I've only known about him for most of my life : )). But no, in every little bit significant town there was its own gingerbread recipe. Here we visited Dmitrov near Moscow, and there is a gingerbread there.
In general, if you set a goal, then in Vladimir you can entertain children with a variety of thematic events.
But we didn’t have such a goal, the main task is to dilute the historical component a little with children’s joys, so that our sightseeing adventures would not turn into the duty of “Accompany parents” anywhere. Perhaps I would also visit The Borodin Forge-Museum, but it only works on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Next, as the installation was originally given, we walk, stare and enjoy the beauties in the stylized Old Vladimir quarter.
The pedestrian Georgievsky face with funny city sculptures begins from it
And not only. A great attraction for using children's energy : ))
Oak green pedunculate and a cat available with it : ))
Many probably know and have tried the famous Vladimirovka. In 2014, a monument to the Vladimir Cherry was erected on Spassky Hill (author I. Chernoglazov).
Since 2012, the traditions of the Cherry Spas, a whole range of events and entertainment dedicated to the cherry harvest, have been revived in Vladimir. Photo from the Internet

This (2019) year, the action took place on July 14th.
And one more place that couldn't be missed is Water Tower, admission 150 rubles, children free.
Inside the tower there is a small exposition of Old Vladimir. Adults are interested, children, especially those who are already tired, are not very interested.
And at the very top there is an observation deck, where, in fact, I was striving.
Here is Vladimir at our feet : ))
The day turned out to be eventful, perhaps enough for today.
And we headed back, "the same paths" to the place of our overnight stay - a cozy hotel "White Poplar". It was so good!
I wanted to end this day with a "delicious" sitting on the pretty terrace in the room. But alas and ah... Outside stood July 8 - Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, widely promoted in the Russian expanse. On the occasion of this significant date, shops were forbidden to sell alcohol, any, even beer. In institutions - please, at least get drunk, and in stores - no, no : )). Although there were no events dedicated to this holiday on the streets of the city (Oh, probably, what happened in Murom. . . ). That's understandable, it's Monday. Eh, when I emptied the refrigerator before leaving, I didn’t take a bottle of champagne with me, it’s not perishable : )). Who would have known then...
Since they don't let you get drunk, we went to get acquainted with the dark places of the city, leaving the children in the hotel, of course. My husband really wanted to look at Vladimir Central. In 1996, a museum was even organized at this institution, but today it no longer works, the process of organizing the simultaneous passage of tourists and prisoners turned out to be too complicated, maybe for a thousand other reasons. Well, let's go from the side to look at an unsightly, but, nevertheless, historical place, less than a kilometer from our lodging for the night. Photo from the Internet
Actually, we did not see anything interesting: a fence, a thorn... And we returned by some other paths back to hotel.
crossing of the Lybidskaya highway and Usti-on-Labe street p>
And in the morning, the final touch is a U-turn at the Golden Gate, and forward - to Nizhny Novgorod!
Subtotals: liked it - yes! Interesting, interesting, entertaining and educational. Satisfied - yes! Will we return - it may very well be, when the children are still older, it is quite possible to combine it with the school curriculum (noble parental dreams, well, well).
