Unforgettable trip to Karelia!
Each of our trips with children from the gymnasium is full of interesting new places, informative stories, picturesque views, hospitable people, joyful emotions, sunny weather. The trip to Karelia was no exception.
It was, in a way, a gift not only to children for their exhausting school year, but also to us adults accompanying them on their journey.
Our tour began long before entering the territory of the Republic of Karelia. As soon as the bus left, the guide Eduard initiated us into the secrets of palace life, summer pastime in the city and in the countryside, reminded us of the history of Russia. The stories accompanied us throughout the journey. To be honest, it was a pity to sleep on the bus, as a lot of interesting information could be missed during sleep.
Sightseeing places were strictly thought out. For two days of travel, we covered the most iconic places with our guide. Kirkha Yakkima and her Angels made a strong impression. The caretaker's story did not let go of the attention of the whole group throughout the allotted time. When he finished speaking, he didn't want to let go. Caretaker Mikhail sincerely loves the place he talks about.
The military-historical complex Gora Filina has unique exhibits. But the most valuable thing is the guides, who tell the complex history of relations between Finland and Russia in a clear and interesting way. The tour lasted about an hour. All this time I didn’t want to leave the guide at all.
Of course, the nature of Karelia is beautiful! On our route, we were able to fully enjoy its views. We visited the valley of waterfalls on the Ihalanjoki River.
We enjoyed picturesque views of the indented shore of Lake Ladoga. We visited the island, from the high point of which a stunning view opened up. Ahinkoski - a waterfall on the Tohmajoki River makes you freeze and, without moving, listen to the sound of water, look at the struggle of the river in making its own way. The Karelian track frightens and delights at the same time. Amazing views open up on the rocks, suddenly appearing panoramas of Ladoga, beautiful fields, forests. The track is already an attraction in itself.
In the Drive Hotel Ladoga there were warm blankets that warmed us up after a very cool first day of travel. The waiter who served us was the only one who managed to carry the plates of food and remove the empty ones. Don't be surprised if he is also a chef. We had a delicious lunch at the Arcobaleno cafe. The Army Cafe was both cozy and tasty. The portions were large and filling.
Thanks to the travel agency for organizing an interesting, bright, eventful route for our trip. And, what is also important, there was a great desire to additionally read about the places that we visited and return again in order to plunge into the history and beauty of the Karelian region again.
