For the first time in five years of trips to Bulgaria, we decided to make a stop in Romania, mainly to see some castles, incl. Dracula's castle When choosing a hotel, we stopped at the Residence Ambient 3 * hotel in Brasov, as the reviews about this hotel were very good and the prices for accommodation were quite satisfactory. We booked three rooms for the night (two doubles and one for a family of 3). With all the hospitality at the reception in this hotel would no longer settle without a single doubt. My impressions:
the rooms on the top floor are just awful. The first thing I didn't like was the size of the rooms (very small). Having opened the door, the rooms almost suffocated from staleness, there are no air conditioners in the hotel rooms. Having opened the windows in the room, I realized that I could not fall asleep, because from the house opposite (20 meters from the hotel) conversations, laughter, screams, etc. were heard. Whether it was a house or a hostel - I do not know, but it was terrible.
The next negative is the lack of soundproofing in the room and the lack of curtains on the windows. In the evening, the inhabitants of the upper floors from the house opposite see everything that happens in the room. In the morning, at 6 o'clock, we were awakened by loud conversations and laughter that came from the kitchen, located next to the room. The residents of the hotel - Romanians themselves, reminded me of gypsies who did not at all consider their neighbors and were noisy for their own pleasure. The room could hear the sound of any rustle, including from the stairs, along which the roommates of the hotel went up to the kitchen.
There was an impression that the Romanians bought one room and settled into it in whole groups, since no one controls the settlement itself.
The rooms, or rather, the room that I saw on the floor below (family room) were cozy and our fellow travelers did not complain about it. This room has two double beds (in two rooms), there is much more space in them and the room costs 45 euros. Apparently they didn’t have neighbors, the windows of the room faced the other way, and besides, there was no kitchen nearby, from which screams could be heard (there is only on the top floor).
The overall impression was that the night at the hotel was terrible, even teenage children, who usually sleep soundly, could not rest!

The hotel was booked online. I must say that the city of Brasov is one of the most prestigious resorts in Romania, so the prices there are appropriate - from 50 to 100 euros per night. We traveled with friends in their car, the availability of free parking, close proximity to the center (10 min walk to str. Republicii) and reasonable price (35 euros per day) attracted us to Residence Ambient (http://residenceambient. ro) .
This is a guest house belonging to the "Ambient" chain, the reception is located on the street next to the "Residence Ambient" (3 min. walk), in the pension "Ambient" (pensiune "Ambient"). Receptionist very friendly, English speaking. We were delayed on the road, we arrived late (at 2 am) but they were waiting for us. The rooms occupy the top two floors of a three-story building, on the first floor there are offices of two private lawyers. The front door is clean, comfortable, closed with a combination lock. Guests are given keys to the entrance, floor and room (one key) and a WiFi code tag. The rooms are very bright, stylish, furniture and plumbing are new. Breakfast can be ordered for an extra charge (5 euros per person). On the floor there is a kitchen with a microwave, toaster, kettle, hob, coffee maker and necessary utensils (everything from a pot to a wine glass). There are two large refrigerators. Ground coffee and a variety of teas are provided free of charge. There is also a cozy dining room, which offers a beautiful view of Mount Tympa and the roofs of the old center. Everything is very comfortable and unusual. It was the first time I stayed in an institution of this type and I was satisfied : ). The windows of our friends overlooked the street, it was a bit noisy, but they could at any time make sure that their car was safe (parking under the hotel windows). Our windows overlooked a quiet closed courtyard and in the morning we could only hear the melodic chime of bells coming from the neighboring church. There are few rooms on the floor - about 8. Our neighbors were intelligent Romanians and enthusiastic Americans. At breakfast and dinner, gallantly bowing, we gave each other a kettle and a coffee maker : ))). It is not allowed to smoke in the "Residence Ambient" rooms, the smoking area is located in the dining room. Of the minuses, the first thing you pay attention to is an unpleasant smell in the bathroom due to local mountain water supersaturated with hydrogen sulfide. This problem is solved by simply airing the room and repeatedly draining the tank. Also, it would not hurt to equip the room with a hairdryer.
Brasov himself made a very favorable impression. This is a cozy medieval city, the streets of which smell of cinnamon. The city, founded by the Saxons in 1211, today is a major tourist center and is considered to be the jewel of Transylvania. Many cafe waiters and salespeople in Brasov speak English, which greatly facilitates communication. In general, Romania turned out to be a neat beautiful country populated by friendly, benevolent people, and not ragged, evil gypsies, as, for some reason, most of our compatriots believe. I would like to come back here again and again.
