Balaklava Bay

Balaklava bay, Balaklava bay
Crimea, Balaklava
Balaklava Bay is a consequence of a tectonic fault, cut deep into the crevice of the rock mass in the north direction at a distance of up to 1500 meters. Width 200-400 meters (at its narrowest point - 45 meters), depth 5-10 meters in the upper reaches, up to 25 meters near the beach and up to 35 meters at the neck. The entrance to the bay is located between the capes of George (aka Balaklavsky, eastern coast) and Cape Curon (aka Western, Battery). At the entrance to the bay on the eastern shore is Mount Fortress (Kastron) with the ruins of the Genoese fortress Cembalo. The bay is curved, picturesque, hidden by mountains, imperceptible from the sea. The winding fairway protects the bay from strong storms. A feature of the Balaklava Bay is its semi-closedness and limited connection with the open part of the Black Sea. Balaklava Bay is the best yachting bay on the Black Sea coast in terms of its geographical, natural and navigation features. It is closed from wind and waves from all directions. Balaklava Bay is not loaded with large-tonnage vessels, which creates fewer problems and increases the safety of navigation.

One of the most beautiful places in Crimea. This place is striking in its beauty. We arrived for the first time and were shocked by the panorama that opens up wherever you are. Two days later we returned again and climbed the mountain road as high as possible, and it was worth it. The photos are simply gorgeous. You get a lot of pleasure looking into the lens of the camera. It's just a photographer's paradise.

The first time I got to Balaklava was with an excursion. A beautiful place in itself, but pretty disfigured. On the slopes gaping empty windows are not large, waste rock from a nearby mine has been dumped into the bay for many years and now it is not as deep as it once was. The impression of the submarine base is the most negative. But the waterfront is pretty fun. The bay hosts many yachts of various celebrities. We were shown the yachts of Rotaru, Makarevich and the Chaif group, houses belonging to Yanukovych and Tymoshenko, peacefully adjacent to each other.
