On August 24.2002, at that time, the only monument in Ukraine to the soldiers-internationalists was opened in the park near the cathedral. That is, not only to those who fought in Afghanistan, but also to those soldiers of the Soviet army from Severodonetsk, who in 22 countries of the world fulfilled their international duty to the Fatherland. 24 granite mourning tablets from "A to Z" - from Algeria to Japan - are embedded in the wall of the memorial along the perimeter from three sides.
