Monument Golden Child

The Golden Baby
Ukraine, Odesa
The Golden Child monument was officially opened on May 9, 1995 in honor of the 50th anniversary of victory in World War II. The bronze sculpture was created by renowned sculptor Ernst Neizvestny and represents a bronze baby emerging from a flower. As conceived by the artist, the sculptural composition symbolizes the hope for a bright future for a free and strong Odessa. The monument is installed at the Marine Station, not far from the Sailor's Wife sculpture.

This monument evokes a wide range of feelings - from bewilderment to indignation in every tourist who has come to the Odessa Sea Terminal for the first time. Sharp-tongued townspeople behind the eyes call the statue "Rupture of the uterus" (sorry), there is also a more literary version - "Schwarzenegger in the womb. " I think that most of the giggling spectators, photographed against the background of a gigantic-sized bronze "baby", would be surprised to learn that this work is the creation of a world-famous sculptor - Ernst Neizvestny.
