Due to the lack of reliable documentary data, researchers attribute the construction of the first church on this site to the XVII century - just then (in 1672) the church on Karvasary is mentioned with a schematic sketch on the city plan as Russian in the name of the Holy Cross. With the establishment of Russian rule over the Right Bank of Ukraine in 1799, work began on the construction of a new church, which two years later (1801) was consecrated by Kallinik Nagorsky as the Orthodox Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, and half a century later (1863).

The church was built without a single nail. It can be reached by a narrow wooden suspension bridge. The wooden Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with a bell tower is located on the outskirts of Karvasary in the town of Kamenets-Podolsky on a narrow coastal strip of the Smotrich River, under the walls of the Old Castle. Built in the XVIII century. on the site of a temple that existed in the XVII century. The foundation of the church is made of limestone. The church itself is three-log, one-headed with a porch and sacristy on the north side and a bell tower attached on the west.

The Exaltation of the Cross, or, as it was originally called, Zdvizhenskaya Church, is the only ancient wooden church that has survived in the city, built according to the best traditions of Podolsk wooden architecture. For believers, this is a sacred place, but for the rest it will be interesting to see this church because it is an original structure built without a single steel nail.
