"Black Grave" - a mound of ancient Russian (Varangian) origin of the late tenth century in Chernihiv. Local legends attributed it to Prince Black, the legendary founder of Chernihiv. It is part of the Chernihiv Ancient State Historical and Architectural Reserve. Excavated in 1872-1873 by D. Ya. Samokvasov. Remains of a large fire on which the corpses of two soldiers were burned (according to scientists, a father and son were buried in the mound), as well as probably male and female slaves, were found under the embankment; tools and women's jewelry were found in the mound.→
