The first hydroelectric power station in Russia was built in 1908-1910 in the Urals, on the Bolshaya Satka River, now it is the Satka district of the Chelyabinsk region. The project was developed by prof. B. A. Bakhmetiev. The dam of the power plant, 125 meters long, is made of natural stone, which is abundant in the Urals.
