The Church or Monastery of the Holy Cross is located in the lower part of the city of Coimbra, it is one of the oldest buildings in the city. It was founded in the 12th century. and was one of the main religious and educational centers of the young kingdom of Portugal. In the XVI century. the monastery was rebuilt during the reign of King Manuel I, which brought to its appearance features of the Manueline style. The main faç ade makes the first impression on visitors - it is a magnificent portico of white stone and a large window richly decorated with carvings and sculptures.→
