Tumsky Island is located between two branches of the Warta River. It is a historical part of Poznań: the first settlements arose here in the 10th century. It was from Tumski Island (on the Warta River and the Tsybina River flowing into it) that the whole history of Poznan began. According to legend, the ancestors of three Slavic peoples met at this place - Lech, Rus and Czech. The brothers immediately recognized each other and very joyfully exclaimed: “Learn! Know! ” (i. e. , they learned). And in memory of the meeting, it was decided to build a city on the Warth and call it Poznań. And according to archaeological excavations, the most ancient population existed here as early as the 10th century.
