In 1828, Dietl received his doctorate in medicine. He is considered one of the most prominent Polish doctors of the XIX century. In 1851, Dietl was invited to become a professor of medicine and anatomical pathology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and ten years later was elected rector of the university. His merits in the development of the old Polish higher education institution are very great. At the same time, in 1861, Dietl was elected a deputy of the Galician Sejm, in which he was a supporter of the full autonomy of Galicia and fought for the introduction of the Polish language in schools.→
