Museum Square in Amsterdam

Museumplein, Museumplein
Netherlands, Amsterdam
Museum Square, or Museumplein, is a square in Amsterdam that houses four museums:
- State Museum or Rijksmuseum,
- Van Gogh Museum,
- City Museum or Stedelijk Museum
- Diamond Museum.
This area is huge in terms of Amsterdam. Therefore, mass events, festivals, holidays and demonstrations are held here, and in winter a small pond on the square turns into a skating rink. The Concertgebouw is also located here.
Museum Square in Amsterdam (Museumplein) was founded in 1883 for an exhibition that was a demonstration of the colonial achievements of the Netherlands.
On the museum square there is a sculpture-inscription "I Amsterdam". This is a very popular place for photography.

A wonderful place where you go after visiting museums and have the opportunity to "digest" everything you see, lying on the green grass or slowly walking along the perimeter of a huge square. The big slogan "I amsterdam" (play on words "I am Amsterdam" - "I (are) Amsterdam") is covered with tourists at any time of the day or night : ) A little advice, you can capture yourself against the background of letters not only if you climb on these the very letters. It is better to move behind the pond and take the entire perspective of the square, including the inscription, against the backdrop of the Rijksmuseum.

Nothing remarkable, Go from one museum to another. A couple of cafes, benches to rest. The only thing is very well maintained, the youth was lying on the grass. When we went, there was no inscription yet.

The square is the entrance to at least 3 of the largest museums in Amsterdam (Stedelí k, Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum). It also has a three-dimensional inscription Iamsterdam, known no less than the Rijksmuseum. Around the clock, this voluminous inscription is plastered with tourists. The height of the letters allows, in the presence of an athletic body and lack of tact, to climb on top of some letters. The white and red letters are stripped down to metal, and there is nothing to photograph there, except for the photographers themselves.
