The capital of Latvia, Riga, stretches for several kilometers along both banks of the Daugava River (Western Dvina). It was decided to use the river embankment as a place of rest for the inhabitants of Riga and as a tourist attraction. In 2013, the first part of the promenade, more than a kilometer long, was opened along the Daugava between the Railway and Ostrov bridges. Part of the funding was taken over by the European Community. Along the river bank, parallel to St. Krasta, a bike path was laid, lamps and benches were installed, a playground was equipped. Then the work continued to the Stone Bridge and beyond.

Currently, the length of the promenade is 4.7 km. Excursion boats moor here, here you can ride a bike, rollerblade, go jogging, just take a walk overlooking the Old Town and the ships. There are ramps for people with disabilities.

Bachelorette party on the beach

You can walk for hours along the beautiful waterfront of Riga. Especially in the last 2 years, when the promenade was landscaped and stretched for many kilometers, ramps were made, bike paths were laid, lights were installed. And below, by the water, there are wonderful places for a beach holiday. With a view of the Gothic high spiers of the Old Town. Romance and more!→
