Tiber Island is the only island on the Tiber River along its entire length. Each part of Rome keeps some kind of legend, and sometimes even more than one. According to legend, the island of Tiberina grew up on the site of the death of the malicious Roman tyrant Tarquinius the Proud, who was so cruel that the Romans overthrew and drowned him in the river. But this is just one of the legends. The island remained unvisited for a long time, but at the end of the 3rd century BC. e. a hospital was organized on the territory of the island - the temple of Aesculapius, and over time, Tiberina turned into a place revered by the Romans.→
