Today it is one of the best preserved towers in medieval Florence. Built in the thirteenth century, it belonged to the Compiobesi family. Since 1308 - the residence of Arte della Lana, the richest guild of wool producers in Florence. In 1569, the architect Bernardo Buontalenti built a portal and an arch that connect the tower with Orsanmichele and are now used to enter the museum. Many 14th-century frescoes have been preserved indoors: religious and allegorical subjects, coats of arms, and guild-related activities, such as the wool and wool weaving phases.→
