The basilica was built during the XIV-XV centuries, becoming the first large basilica in Florence, later - the Dominican Church of the city. The building combines elements of Gothic and early Renaissance architecture, inside it is decorated with numerous frescoes. The construction plan was drawn up by two monks, Fra Sisto Fiorentino and Fra Ristoro Campi. Construction began in the middle of the XIII century (around 1246); in 1279 the naves were completed, and around 1360 Fra Jacopo Talenti completed the construction of the bell tower in the Romanesque-Gothic style and sacristy.→
