It is one of the largest and oldest churches in Florence. The first church was built here at the end of the IV century, then rebuilt in the XI century in the Romanesque style. The modern Renaissance building was erected in the 15th century by the famous architect Filippo Brunelleschi. Inside the temple are decorated with numerous works of art by Donatello, Michelangelo, Verocchio and other artists. Like the Duomo, Santa Croce and Santa Maria Novella, this church was to receive a facade of Carrara marble.→
