Street of the Old Fishmongers

Via Pescherie Vecchie
Italy, Bologna
Street of the Old Fish Shops is located in the historical center of Bologna, next to the main square of the city - Piazza Maggiore. In fact, the street and the lanes adjacent to it are a small open-air market. Despite its name, here, in addition to fresh fish, they sell vegetables, fruits, all kinds of pastries, cheeses, meat products, and even fresh flowers. But the main thing is that people come here not only for shopping. People come to the “street” market for the atmosphere: chat with friends, have a glass of wine sitting at a table right there on the street, taste cheese or prosciutto straight from the shelves.

Bologna is called the gastronomic capital of Italy. On this narrow pedestrian street next to the central square of the shop change cafes and vice versa. Vendors offer a variety of delicacies, including cheese and meat products, including the famous Bologna sausage "Mortadella", which has become one of the symbols of the city. It is of normal size, and sometimes huge - up to 200 kilograms. Huge hams with bone wrapped in gold foil, famous T-steaks, vegetables, fruits, seafood - all this in abundance and excellent quality.
