Athens Acropolis

Acropolis of Athens, Citadel of Athens
Greece, Athens
The Acropolis of Athens is an acropolis in the city of Athens, which is a 156-meter rocky hill with a gentle top (approx. 300 m long and 170 m wide). Majestic temples, sculptures, various objects of worship were located here. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

After the declaration of independence of Greece, during the restoration work (mainly at the end of the 19th century), the ancient appearance of the Acropolis was restored as far as possible: all late buildings on its territory were liquidated, the temple of Nike Apteros was re-laid, etc. The reliefs and sculptures of the temples of the Acropolis are in The British Museum (London), the Louvre (Paris) and the Acropolis Museum. The sculptures that remained in the open air have now been replaced by copies.

I was well aware that being in Athens, you must definitely see the Acropolis. How without it? I can tell everyone who will visit it - do not go there in the summer, well, it's very hot!! ! Imagine that you are sitting in the sauna for 1.5 hours (the duration of the excursion) and at the same time you must still perceive the information that the guide broadcasts (I sympathize with them, working in such heat). In general, either the scorching sun did its job, or the pile of stones did not impress me, but I was not imbued with the spirit of history.

A very beautiful place. The first time my girlfriend and I went, we didn’t know anything at all about Athens, Greece and their sights, by the way, My girlfriend and I decided that we should visit the Acropolis of Athens. And after the first visit, this attraction, with its old look, has become my favorite part of Athens. Every time I go there I always visit the Acropolis.

There are such sights in Athens that you can bypass if you have little time, but the Acropolis should by no means be ignored, this is the heart of the city, this is a landmark, you will never get lost if you look for the Acropolis with your eyes, and in general - the area around it - the most interesting thing that is in Athens. There are wonderful cafes where for the first time I managed to taste real olives, which I now buy in huge quantities in the Greek Olive, because I can’t live without them anymore.

The Acropolis is the first and obligatory point of the visit to Athens. It rises on a mountain and is visible from anywhere in the city. From the stop of the sightseeing buses, you need to walk a little or ride on a wagon. A ticket for 1 adult costs 12 euros, the price also includes a visit to Olympion (the temple of Olympian Zeus, or rather its ruins) in the center, next to Syntagma Square. There are a lot of people, mostly, of course, these are group excursions, there are almost no individual ones.
