Palace and park in Versailles, Palace of Versailles, Parc et château de Versailles, Palace of Versailles
France, Paris
Versailles - a palace and park ensemble in France, the former residence of the French kings in the city of Versailles, now a suburb of Paris; tourism center of world importance.

Versailles was built under the leadership of Louis XIV from 1661, and became a kind of monument to the era of the "Sun King", an artistic and architectural expression of the idea of absolutism. The ensemble of Versailles, the largest in Europe, is distinguished by a unique integrity of design and harmony of architectural forms and the transformed landscape.

From 1666 to 1789, until the French Revolution, Versailles was the official royal residence. In 1801 it received the status of a museum and is open to the public; since 1830, the entire architectural complex of Versailles has become a museum; in 1837, the Museum of the History of France was opened in the royal palace. In 1979, the Palace of Versailles and the park were included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.

If our modern man admires this palace and a beautiful huge park, then I can imagine how this beauty amazed previous generations. I stayed there almost the whole day and it was not enough to see everything. From 14h. I walked in the park, then the fountains were turned on, and I tried to run through all of them to see and photograph them. It was very windy, they say that almost always, so bring appropriate clothing. I often heard how it is compared with Peterhof in favor of the second, but unfortunately, I have not been there yet and I can’t say anything.

We came here by train, a great place to just take a walk, take pictures, speakers are hidden in the bushes, classical music plays, singing fountains, I really liked this place. We did not go on any excursions, only a walk in the park.

I really love all sorts of castles, palaces and landscape gardening complexes. I fully agree with the previous review. Well, not AH! OH! OH! Interesting, but not impressed. If the fountains worked, then perhaps the park would look better. If you want to see a masterpiece of park art, visit Villa d'Este (Tivoli Italy)

I don’t really like country residences, and I know even less about landscape gardening complexes. We visited this excursion as part of a bus tour, simply because it was very well included in the tour program. There was plenty of time for viewing the exposition in the palace and for a walk in the park. I looked through the information before the trip and assumed that there were long distances, but what are they ...The ticket that the travel agency provided us with a visit to the park was not included.
